  1. One of the symptoms that I had prior to diagnoses was bruising. I ended up having a 4 hour nosebleed that could not be stopped (because I was not retaining vitamin K), and was admitted to the hospital to get blood and plasma. I was also extremely anemic. May hair loss started before this was all going on. I would get out of the shower in the morning...
  2. I live in Maryland wit my almost 18 year old son (who doesn't need me anymore - so you might as well say I live alone). I have relatives that live in Hamilton, Ewing and Lawrenceville. I only get to visit them about once a year, but they take me all over the place to buy gluten free food. They take me to Wegman's, a small health food store that has...
  3. I am so glad to see that celiac3270 posted . I PM'd him asking him to do so. This is a copy of his reply to me: Hi Cindy, You can tell anyone else who was wondering that I've just taken a break. I'm doing fine-- great, actually... but I have a ton of work for school and I haven't really had a chance to post for the past few weeks. I still read...
  4. Go to www.hormel.com, FAQS, Alllergens, type in gluten free. They will have a listing of their gluten free deli meats, as well as many other gluten free products that their company has.
  5. I've been eating Asian Gormet Rice Crackers. They come in Regular, Cheese and Sesame flavor. I've found them reasonably priced in some of my local grocery stores. Cindy
  6. If you go to www.hormel.com and choose allergens under topics and type in gluten free, you will get a whole list of their items that are gluten free (including lunch meat). Each time you purchase anything, you still need to check the ingredients because companies tend to "improve" things from time to time, so you need to make sure that it is still gluten...
  7. My dog had identical food and water bowls. When she was hungry or thirsty, she would bring her bowl to me and throw it at my feet. I never knew if it was food or water that she wanted. I had to buy her weighted bowls so she couldn't pick them up. Now she just stands with her paw in the bowl and nudges it around until I notice her. She doesn't...
  8. When training the dogs I have had, I take a spray bottle of water and spray them when they are doing something wrong. It doesn't hurt them, but they sure don't like it very much. I don't know how old your boys are, but they might want to try blowing bubbles in the air and letting the dog chase them. I had a dog that did that, and it was the funniest...
  9. I'm 5'1", but by no means small. Fat and petite is an oxymoron. Cindy
  10. Does anyone know the latest information on eating oats?
  11. My teenage son was born 3 weeks early. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. I hate to think about what he would have weighed if he waited until his due date! I am diabetic, and it is not unusual for diabetics to have large babies. He had constant ear infections from the time he was 3 weeks old he was 15 months old and had tubes put in. He just had a negative endoscopy...
  12. Some stores place the bouillon cubes either in the soup aisle or with the gravy mixes. Herb Ox also makes a powdered bouillon that sprinkles on. I like to use that to season veggies, rice or gluten free pasta. Cindy

    ARCHIVED Arbys!

I went into my local Arby's. I watched them make a roast beef sandwich. They wear gloves, pick up a roll, pick up beef and then weigh the sandwich. Even if they changed their gloves, the beef would already be contaminated from other rolls. I turned around and walked out. Be careful. Ciindy

  17. Most people have coffee with their breakfast. I drink Diet Coke with mine. I like my caffeine cold . I figure I could be addicted to worse things. Cindy
  18. Thanks Ashley, I woke up with a headache today for the first time in a long time and was wondering what to take. Cindy
  19. It's nice to be acknowledged. Most people have never heard of Celiac Disease. The more people who are aware, the more they can understand. I would be more helpful if the article were more in-depth, but it is a start.
  20. Welcome Rice Cakes. I'm glad that you are finding things locally that fit into your diet. It makes life a whole lot easier. Cindy
  21. Welcome Brian! I haven't purchased this software, but I had to ask...What are you doing up at 4:09 a.m? This website has a lot of information. Keep asking questions, most of the time someone has the answer, or will find out for you. Cindy
  22. Does anyone know which sunscreen lotions are gluten free? I turn beet red if I don't wear any, but I don't know which ones are safe to wear.
  23. But yeah, I will try to stay gluten-free. It's really just my 3rd day going gluten-free. I tried taking 2 multivitamins with iodine in it, but it doesn't really seem to help. But hearing some other stories is encouraging though. There are things that contain gluten that you would never think - Check your vitamins to make sure that they are gluten free...
  24. If you go to www.hormel.com and click on Faqs, search entire site, gluten free, you will get a whole list of gluten free foods. This will include lunch meat, as well as other products. There will also be a list of recipes. Enjoy.
  25. A new colander is a MUST, and they are pretty cheap. You should mark this too, or get a different color, so they don't get mixed up. There is no way to get all of the gluten out of all the tiny holes of the old one. There are plenty of gluten free pasta's - I like Tinkyada the best. Good luck!
