After removing wallpaper in my kitchen today, I started thinking... Is wallpaper glue gluten free? Is Dif Wallpaper Stripper gluten free? Am I going to be sorry that I didn't wear gloves? Does anybody know these answers? Cindy

Could your feet be coming in contact with gluten some other way? I walk around the house barefoot all the time. My dog is a very sloppy eater, and there are usually a few pieces of dog food (full of gluten) on the kitchen floor, which I have been known to step on . Fortunatly, this hasn't caused me any problem - but it could. If I were...

ARCHIVED How Bad Is Wheat In Shampoo?
kevsmom replied to ErraticBinxie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was using Pantene Volumizing Shampoo and Lever 2000 body soap. I didn't have a rash, but started itching all over my stomach and sides. I figured it had to be either the shampoo or the soap causing this. I switched to Suave BioBasics shampoo and Suave Naturals Ocean Breeze soap. After about 3 days, no more itching. It's a lot cheaper too!. Cindy -
ARCHIVED Dry Hands
kevsmom replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My hands are always dry also. I know it's because I am constantly washing them to avoid cross contamination. I wash them after feeding the dog, giving her a bone, before preparing meals, and of course when I go to the bathroom. I can't tell you how many paper towels I have used, so I don't risk getting gluten on my towels, soap, or the knobs on the sink... -

ARCHIVED Idea - How About A gluten-free Convention
kevsmom replied to Nantzie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
What about Baltimore? Maybe the University of Maryland Center For Celiac Research would be interested in organizing something like this. Just think of all the data they could collect with all of us in one place. Cindy -
I was recently at a Wendy's and ordered a baked potato. It was wrapped in foil, so I thought I was safe. The preparer (who had just made a sandwich for another customer) removed the foil to cut the potato open. When I saw this, I requested another potato, and asked them to leave the foil on.

Whole Foods has Cranberry Orange scones in their freezer section of the bakehouse that are wonderful! They are a lite baked treat that is not too sweet. Cindy -
There is an article in the March 19, 2006 edition of Parade Magazine that discusses gluten sensitivity and Celiac Disease. It urges people who display symptoms to ask their doctor for a blood test. It also says that if you test positive for gluten sensitivity or Celiac Disease, a gluten-free diet usually will completely relieve the symtoms. (Makes...

I brought my own toothpaste for the cleaning. I'm glad I did, because my dentist didn't know if the stuff he used was gluten free or not . Cindy

The only way that I can drink a lot of water is if it is really ice cold. Unfortunately, my freezer is so stuffed full with gluten free food that I don't have room for ice cube trays . Cindy

ARCHIVED Manufactured gluten-free Products

I agree about the Tinkyada pasta. It really is good. I like to use the Gluten-Free Pantry Chicken Flavor Broth Mix. It is a powder that comes in a shaker bottle, and is a great seasoning for chicken, rice and veggies. I buy the Asian Gourmet Rice Crackers at my grocery store. They are very tasty. You can serve them with cheese (I use Kraft... -

m - PLEASE straighten them out. They don't realize how many people could be getting sick because of their misinformation. Cindy -
I was getting meat at the deli and asking the clerk to wipe down the blade before she cut my order. We got to talking and I told her about Celiac. She actually suggested the prepackaged meat because it was all done on one cutter and there was less of a chance of cross contamination. She pointed out the store brand meats to me, which I looked at, and a...

ARCHIVED Distended Stomach - Lots Of Pain - I'm Confused!
kevsmom replied to DingoGirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was having really bad itching all over my belly - I didn't have a rash with it. I changed shampoo (which may have had gluten in it - I couldn't get a direct answer from the company) and body wash about a week ago, and it is getting a lot better. So even if I wasn't ingesting it, I think it was still affecting me. DingoGirl - do you make yourself gluten... -

ARCHIVED K-toos
kevsmom replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks Carole! I have purchased some Kinnikinnick bread that I found at a health food store, but I have not placed an order with them. I seem to be spending my whole week running around to different stores trying to find things that I can eat . I guess that it is about time for me to try ordering some things on line from the places that specialize... -

I buy the Kraft Natural Shredded Fat Free Cheddar Cheese all the time (it's great in taco and chef's salads). It specifically states that it uses potato starch, cellulose powder and calcium sulfate to prevent caking. Cindy

You're right about Outback. They are very helpful and knowledgeable about the gluten free menu. Be careful when you eat at Wendy's. I always ask them to change gloves before they make my food. The gloves that they had on before making our order were handling the buns, then then handle your potato. Do they use tongs to pick up the lettuce and tomato...
