  1. Char - I am certainly not at all suggesting you would harm your child; I do want you to know I understand what it means to be in the throes of worry. It's frustrating and it can be unrelenting, especially when it comes to your children. However, you meantion that "gluten-free will not screw with any other test the GI might want to do" - that statement...
  2. Drink tea daily. Black or green.
  3. Hi...I would agree with your doc that the TTG is the most sensitive test going. My number was only VERY slightly elevated - I mean like by one point - and very few gluten-like systems. My doc saw it, decided to pursue a biopsy and sure enough the biopsy showed the very beginning of Celiac Sprue. She could have totally written it off, but she explained...
  4. I was diagnosed with Celiac last September, with very mild osteopenia in my hips and lower back and lower vit D levels. I continued breastfeeding and am almost finished. My daughter is over 2 now. My doc seemed fine with me breastfeeding. So, essentially, I nursed for 2 years (probably all of those I had Celiac). I'd keep doing it until you're ready to...
  5. Weird thing - I've always wiped the phones down in the house. My little obsession. Last week when Dawson was sick I was washing puke sheets, bathing him, etc. I can't imagine that I didn't come in contact with that virus somehow.
  6. Thanks. My family is like a petrie dish. I have 3 kids and two dogs. I'm constantly touching poo ).
  7. Okay. Someone help me figure this out. Early last week both my husband and son had diarrhea. My son definitely had a bug where he was vomiting Sat, Sun and then Monday had bad diarrhea. Now, for the past couple of days I've had watery D (no gluten ingestion I can think of). I assume this would be the same bug, wouldn't you?
  8. My experience was great. Got an IV, they gave me some kind of amnesia drug, I woke up three hours later like nothing had happened. Doc told me everything looked great, but that we'd have to wait for the biopsy (which was positive for celiac). Never even had a sore throat. I wouldn't think twice about putting my kids through it either, if they ever test...
  9. put in neutrogena into the search function on this board. just a few weeks ago i posted a really long safe list from neutrogena. i love their stuff.
  10. I know. I was obsessed with the British version (and love Ricky Gervais' show Extras on HBO)...but now really love the American version, too. Tonight's episode is supposed to be pretty fun (The temp guy who took Jim's spot is goin g on his first sales call with Dwight...)
  11. The Office? I love that show. Just wondering if the rest of you watch it.
  12. Go to your family practiitoner, tell them your sister was diagnosed with Celiac and you should have the TTG Iga antibody test done. That's what my family's been going through.
  13. Thanks guys. My mom was talking last night to the mother of the only other Celiac I actually know in person. He's a friend from childhood and he was diagnosed with Celiac as a baby. He's very strict with the diet, however, I guess that sometimes he'll still have intolerances to random things (in fact, she said, he'll just kind of randomly throw up...or have...
  14. I'm pretty sure it's not okay. I just got something from Clan Thompson on it.
  15. Marlene... That's how I am soooo much... I had a not so good looking situation in the toilet happening this morning and then this mid-afternoon things start to firm up. It's weird. But true. I still can't get over that my husband goes and then totally flushes it while he's still sitting on the toilet - exactly liek you said - without a nary glance...
  16. OH, you guys are so right on. I can't tell you how many smelly farts under the sheets I have had to deal with over the last 10 years. That man is so stinky. And after he eats eggs, well, I should stop right here. Even I get nasty toots (like today - WEEEE!)...but most of the time my bottom is stink-less. (I'm kidding, of course...)
  17. First week of it I had D...then my body got used to it. I stick to just 5 mg a day to help with IBS-ish type stuff.
  18. I'm pretty sure almost all Wrigley gums are gluten-free. I chew Winterfresh...and then also Altoids.
  19. IrishKelly - I know, I know. I was telling him about how chili upset my stomach last night. And he was like AMANDA!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. THat's sort of where I'm getting now. I jsut don't want to think about what causes issues...I watch other people and if they have a weird stomach they just chalk it up to a weird stomach day. I feel like I have to worry for some stupid reason.
  21. Thanks - it's been my very first year gluten free and I still have no clue what I'm doing. Some days things all seem well, then I'll eat something that does not have gluten, but may cause other symptoms. My dietician also suggested keeping a food journal and see if I have any particular reactions...I just hate to be tied to writing things down!!!!!!
  22. I seem to be having more reactions to beans and to strong coffee? (I noticed soy as well...) Does that seem typical?
  23. For those of you who've been gluten free for a while....have you noticed that your stomach is more sensitive to certain things than before (I'm not talking about gluten here)? What have you found that bugs you more (gives you gas, softer stools, etc...)? I'm just wondering as I stare at my diet.
