  1. And you've been gluten free for a while now I'm guessing... Are you waiting too long between meals/snacks? The timing sounds like when your stomach is most likely to be empty ie first thing in morning and long after breakfast/before lunch Feel free to post a list of any of the bathroom/cleaning/laundry products (+ ingredients where you can, not just...
  2. I find this thread makes me so mad and sad. I try my best to keep my sense of humour but it doesn't work much.
  3. Can you clarify: Were your ulcers specifically diagnosed as being or not being P. Hpylori ? ie you have no specific medical history tied to or tested to Pylori? What SPECIFIC idea / test etc told you you had stomach ulcers? As opposed to conditions that appeared/felt like you had ulcers? Tell us what you feel. Where, when, what kind of pain/ache...
  4. My DH can't handle dried fruit (tested with raisins and two gluten-free muesli). What the ACTUAL problem is I don't know but I am planning to test brands and possibility of sals intolerance. Dried fruit is high on sals.
  5. I have no diagnosis. I just call gluten "my poison". I don't care what others want to call me or my condition or my reaction or my recovery. When others need some excuse/understanding for my appearance (DH all over) then I tell them I have a "problem with gluten". I've had a long list of non-skin related (including GI issues) that have resolved gluten...
  6. OMG i didn't know such a thing had a name. I'm not diagnosed with anything but lots of crazy things resolved or resolving gluten-free. My DH is head to ankle and resolving and lots of other things calming down (GI, overweight/bloating etc etc). I only had nausea and vomiting toward the end of working at a bakery for 9 months until June2011. Apart from...
  7. PLEASE keep reading about gluten intolerance. Search like crazy on this and other websites. The more you learn the more you can speak to parents and medical people with some authority or knowledge. You need to describe your symptoms and reactions really specifically and even then you need to be objective to the response you get from them. Most of the regulars...
  8. Terr, I'm starting to get that skin problems that may be gluten related seem to be the worst kind of issue for TEMPTATION. I have some advice, and I am still head to ankle DH: DONT DO THE TEMPTATION / TEST GLUTEN. You WILL NOT KNOW if gluten is the problem unless you eliminate it from your diet LONG TERM. I have been strictly (((and I mean strictly))) for...
  9. I started to get "celiac is a serious wasting disease in children" lecture last week.. I'll let you guys comment on that one ((We use "guys" as a non-gender specific term in Australia so anyone is welcome to comment ))
  10. Hi Katie (I presume that is your name?), I've had a load of skin issues that are resolving with my diet change. I had problems for years, blackheads, probable milia, cracked hands etc (always thought/felt I was dehydrated despite plenty of water and minimal caffeine). How would you describe the "dermatitis/rash" between your fingers? Is there bumps/lumps...
  11. I've never liked Scotch (or US.. sorry friends) whiskeys. But a good Irish version of whiskey would make anything seem like bliss!
  12. Hi queenlamoni! My DH has been so bad that most days are rotten but I totally understand how you feel: this is a place of sanity for me especially in the worst of times. I don't necessarily always offload (but have often!) and hope sometimes to help others who were in the state I was six months ago. Airborne is (at the least psychologically) a problem...
  13. The more I read about skin disorders the more I read how few have a known cause. One of the reasons I decided, early in my massive DH outbreak, to avoid specialist is because I had read of so much mis-diagnosis and diagnosis of issues without known causes(for me as a non-medical person, that seems like no diagnosis at all). I had a living nightmare going...
  14. Can you describe your itchy skin? Where does it happen? What does it feel like(itch, burn, sting or some other description)? What does it look like? Is it different on different parts of your body? Anything seem to relieve it? Do you have any other skin problems? Face/scalp? Do you even get unexplained ingrown hairs? I would ring the endo and ask to speak...
  15. is it time to end this topic? or is it revealing?
  16. It is going to be hard for any of us to live work and walk down the street recognising people that need help. I hope that we can get past it. I've got a few decades of gluten-free yet so I hope that I can work out some ways of either bringing it up or not bothering with people who won't be interested.
  17. Hi Itchy, I've been thinking about this all day. You really got my analytic/maths/science brain working overload. I once had a very well paying job that was highly data/analytical. That was ditched a couple of years ago and I now, in hindsight, blame gluten. Now poor and my brain is seriously in need of stimulation that isn't specifically related to my...
  18. Isn't it so nice to have a chuckle about food. Usually all we do is have a whinge :D Part of our "normalising" process I suppose and I hate it when my sense of humour goes down the toilet.
  19. Agree with you skylark. However I do have a big problem with all of our laws/regulations around products that don't "contain" but are processed/packaged/treated using wheat (etc) derived things that don't make it to the ingredients list.
  20. Why don't you get your fabulous GI to recommend a primary doc? Call and ask. You are likely to get a recommendation from your GI for a primary that knows, understands and can work with your GI in the coming months/years. You might just be one of this forum members most lucky of patients !
  21. Good positive action Allen ! Stay at home until you've sorted it out. It might takes some time so be patient with it. Get to that GI ASAP!! Don't forget to keep a track of what you are drinking, and include brands of food/drink or where you ate etc. Detail where pain is, how much etc It's all about the details and will be very useful for you and to take...
  22. The rice noodles I have at the moment is from Thailand: "Erawan Brand" Try oriental.com.au (the Australian importers). I bought this at our regular supermarket. So cheap too! I've had this one three times without any issue but only from the one packet. I find that the Thailand produced rice noodles in general are reliable. I'm guessing they are such a...
  23. I am getting more and more curious about everyones experience with DH and other skin issues that are or seem to be associated with gluten intolerance / celiac or have cleared or clearing with going gluten free. Can you tell me about your history and any positive response to gluten-free ?
  24. Do you have good support from your doctor(s)? I presume they haven't tested for celiac? Do you keep a gluten free house? It is recommended that celiacs check all the bathroom/laundry products for example.
  25. Get a COPY of the results. You will need them in coming years and she will need them as an adult.
