  1. Oh my I wish I could help!!! Are you keeping a diary of food and symptoms? Have you got rid of all cleaning, bathroom gluten containing products? Is your house gluten free? My (undiagnosed) DH has been severe and head to ankle. I can't tolerate any of the wheat/gluten derived chemicals/additives (xanthan gum, guar gum, vit E etc etc...
  2. Hindsight is truly a beautiful thing. And I am so so glad for having this medium to communicate. Without it I'm not sure where I'd be. gluten-free is the key so I'm lucky the key came to me so easily. Even after 6 months, lots of mistakes, a few breakdowns and still a bit itchy everyday I consider myself so lucky that it (gluten) is so obviously the poison...
  3. More and more surprised by the Aussies on this forums so just wonder who is and where you live? What products work for you? Brands, stores etc? I found the Coeliac Society wasn't for me due to my lack of diagnosis (financial rather than willingness or alternate situation) so would love to have some really good contacts for Gluten free.
  4. Yet again T.H. comes to my rescue. I owe you a good truely great gluten-free meal. You must be one hell of a woman :D
  5. Hi G-Girl, I had it way back in 1996. I was really lucky that the antibiotic for the bug was relatively new. I'd had 9 months of grief and then about 2 days after antibiotic I felt so amazing. But I had got so bad that good was only relative to the bad! I was in the Navy (Australian) at the time so as soon as I felt okay I was back into training, lots...
  6. Hi Booghead, This Gluten Free thing can be tough hey? I know it might be personal or hard sometimes but can you tell us more about your circumstances at home? Most of the posts we read here are from parents or young people not at home (college, uni, etc). Gluten free actually isn't that hard but it depends entirely on your situation at home. Who shops...
  7. Yeehaa! Go LyndaLou. I wish lots of good karma on all those people helping you out. Make sure you keep in mind staff turnover at the kitchen. New staff next term/semester/week who don't understand what you've managed to put in place today. Make sure your daughter is aware of this too. She should keep an eye on who is who and who is new at the kitchen...
  8. How does it look ? Like a rash or bumps/lumps? Is your bub scratching? or even squirming if restrained from scratching (I'd go mental and scream if any or anything stopped me from scratching)?
  9. Tell me more about your diet? What do you all like to eat?
  10. lovesaceliac - what an appropriate name for you! You are an amazing wife. AND you have just as much reason to have a rant every now and again. We do so you should too. Better than having a breakdown huh?? Sorry but I can't give you much advise about other food allergies. I'm still learning so much and on my basic diet there isn't much to get allergic...
  11. But I do think dollars drive decisions more than is healthy for us and the planet
  12. I agree with you on this point. I'm not much into conspiracy theories
  13. Be sure to let us know how you go with the Professor!!!
  14. There is no economic / financial incentive for the medical industry to diagnose gluten intolerance. There aren't many in the business who would say at the end of your consultation: "So go home and google 'gluten free diet'. Get onto this today. Call me once a week to tell me whether your symptoms are improving. If it works for stick to it for life. If...
  15. President Obama is giving a speech in our Parliament (Canberra, Australia) as I post just now. He is a great public speaker. He fits our laid back style very well! Will be glad when all the helicopters and fighters clear out of the airspace though
  16. The article is likely to be associated with medical professional Bob Anderson. He is one of our leading celiac/gluten researchers. Open Original Shared Link Highly recommend all GI/celiacs read about his work.
  17. Yumm... is there enough for two? I love any sort of soup AND homegrown/pickled !!! There wouldn't be too many people who'd steal your lunch out of the fridge though.
  18. I'm wondering if you have found any common ingredient ? I'm in Australia so not familiar with your brands. At the moment I stick to only one brand of Gluten Free product ((http://www.freedomfoods.com.au/How-We-Do-It.aspx)) BTW I'm not in any way affiliated. Couldn't even tell you where the factory is. A couple of brands of rice noodle I tried in the...
  19. I'm not diagnosed but gluten free works for me. I have to be extremely careful with gluten and salts/iodine. Eggs (yolk) are on my don't eat list now. I'm not game enough to even try seafood - my absolute favourite food. That will have to wait. My DH went wild on my last day working at a bakery. I have it from head to ankle. It looks like every DH picture...
  20. You are making great progress. Keep it u! Make sure you are getting plenty of variety in your fruit and veg so you cover the vitamin ranges!!
  21. and never (like I did) think (be told) that it could be something that wasn't coming from you
  22. What is your gluten free routine? NO wheat, etc.? Have you had to be careful about wheat/gluten derivatives when you were gluten-free? What products are you using or using with bub for bathroom - soap, shampoos etc?
  23. I don't need anyone to reply. Just need to get it out and not wake up in the morning with this hanging over me like it has the last few days. I'm still itchy but been in touch with a family member tonight that hopefully will give some family history that will or will not explain half of the holes ((cancer)). Tonight is the first time I have cried since...
  24. Does she or can she get any on-campus medical professionals to advocate for her? If a doctor or clinic nurse could speak to cafeteria staff in person they might take it a bit more serious??
  25. I have no answers or advice but you and your family will be in my thoughts.
