  1. Open Original Shared Link Looks interesting!
  2. I've been experimenting and researching/reading for months now and I am finding the so-called "Gluten-Free" but gluten derived (E400s, guar/xantham gums etc) a problem. Just wondering ((openly, all research, opinions and experience wanted)) what you can add/change/consider worthy etc
  3. I wish I could convince my all-over itchy skin that gum etc is okay in moisturiser, makeup, soaps etc.
  4. After months of experiments (especially with bathroom/cosmetics) I seem to have various problems with the "Gluten Free" products/additives that may be wheat/gluten derived: guar gum, xantham gum, (possibly other E400 series that are gluten sourced but yet to experiment) etc. Check out some of your "gluten-free" products and you will find them. I've done...
  5. Good on you! Keep well and active!!
  6. Hi Nora_N I can't seem to tolerate the so-called "Gluten-Free" deriviatives such a glucoses, gums, thickeners, E400 additives etc and wonder if there is any such discussion amongst you Northern European board members? Di
  7. Hi Robert, Welcome to the forum. I'm sure many of us (me certainly) will be curious to know your age (sorry.. personal question but not nearly as bad as our digestive openness ) , any change of diet/circumstances etc. For example: I found that when I was short of money gluten seemed to fill the "gap" 2 weeks is a very quick "recovery" so be sure...
  8. I'm 3-4 months in and seeing some big improvements of my (un-diagnosed) DH. Still itch but I know when I've had gluten or iodine and a bucket full of water and strict eating gets it before it is exacerbated with more & more gluten or iodine. In the past couple of weeks I have been monitoring my use and reaction to creams/soaps and gluten-free products...
  9. Not exactly 'making up new words' but I have had a few giggles lately with my 9y/o sons interpretation of song lyrics. "Gotye" has a song titled 'Somebody that I use to know' which is one of my favourites at the moment. Open Original Shared Link Look it up on youtube great video & interesting song. When it comes on the radio Gotye sings 'But you...
  10. Banana has been my medicine of choice for my years of leg cramps.
  11. Hello! You have had awesome progress in those 3 weeks!! Look again at your list of improvements.. and give it another 3 weeks. Then let us know how you are doing again. In 3 weeks from now you will have a much much better idea of whether gluten is your problem or whether you need to take another road. If you feel just as good or better then do another...
  12. Are you eating gluten or gluten free??
  13. Yoga, pilates etc also aren't my kinda thing. I think it is medical as well as personality. Have you thought about a more active maritial art? Lots of structure and more active? I'm months into this problem but now check every label and doubt it is a full list. (((despite any government regulation/s))). Learn about renamed gluten (vitamen E, gums, E400 series...
  14. and die of digestive / bowel cancer like my grandfather
  15. Ditto to all the above. Get a copy of those "positive" results. You'll need those for months/years to come. Either get a very immediate biopsy or get gluten-free. Give it a month or two (longer if like me you aren't sure and make lots of mistakes - bathroom products, kitchen stuff, at work etc) if you go gluten-free without biopsy. If you are like...
  16. It could be something else ? If you keep on the gluten as possible problem then you might want to try going low iodine (iodized salt is in LOTS of processed products - including gluten-free product). Read and research DH (Dermatitis Herpetiformis). I spent many a night trawling through dermatology websites with A-Z pictures of skin disorders before I was...
  17. Be aware of xanthan gum and guar gum -- both are usually not listed on the gluten problem lists you'll see and read. In fact they are in most "Gluten Free" products (((check the products on online gluten free shops))). I am also doing a lot of research/reading about the 400's additives many of which are gluten product derived. Xanthan is often wheat derived...
  18. When it gets very bad the only relief I get is from cold/ice packs. I had nights when I use to sleep with them all over me. I had weeks of getting very little sleep !! At the moment I am using babyoil only when I absolutely have to. I don't seem to have the reactions/dry/peeling skin like I have with other products. For the past week I've just been...
  19. I have had bad*bad "hayfever" for years ( in remission this year being gluten-free ). All I can say as a complete non-professional, new to this all, person - try gluten-free. If it doesn't work for you after a couple of months ( 2 month min) then gluten may not be your problem. If you think Gluten is your problem .. try it gluten-free All worth...
  20. I am officially *undiagnosed* but if anyone else had seen my GP/PCP/Docs body/facial expressions on my visits, and it "counted", then I would be officially Celiac/DH. My DH was (slowly healing) so severe that she knew as soon as I told/showed her, what it was and couldn't otherwise be. Despite the "no-biopsy" "unofficial" diagnosis the gluten-free is doing...
  21. I've been sick for years. Hay fever here in Canberra,Australia has been a bad "hot spot" for hayfever/pollen alergy/asthma" and since moving here (never previously) had the usual "itch, scratch, sniff, sneeze, infection" kind of "hay fever". I have been close to not getting oxygen to exist, spent many many days/weeks off work for associated complications etc...
  22. I am undiagnosed Celiac/DH. I avoided gluten for my 38years - no breakfast, no gravy, no dinner roll, 'dont like pasta', didn't like it. I ate it like "normal" people do when we eat, eat out etc but avoided it (without consciously avoiding) I went to work in a bakery and now, four months out of it, I itch like crazy still. In earlier months on this forum...
  23. I'm not in the US/Norhtern America so can't help with purchases but I like your change of attitude Make it work for you!!! Show/Tell your symptoms. Bake gluten-free at home and make mistakes and somethings yummmy. It has been my only way to get some positive inway at home/with family and at work. Don't hold back with your health and/or sanity. ((Wish...
  24. I am 38y/o and spent my life time avoiding breakfast and didn't like pizza, toast/sandwich or pasta. Test now and quickly. And then keep avoiding everything your body/brain tells you too. I went to work in a bakery and it was a disaster waiting to happen that I am now glad did.
