  1. It is a great cafe/bakery! But unfortunately I look at bread, cake etc now and my body/brain almost have a seizure Even walking past it all in the supermarket makes me nervous.
  2. Some more for you to read if you haven't already: Google gluten child behaviour
  3. What makes you think or suspect some other intolerance? Is it even remotely possible that your househelp feel sorry for him because he doesn't get treats? Do they wash hands etc when they get to your house? If they are live-in do they have their own supply? Take your son to markets?((I hate even thinking this but you must consider it. My mum is a grandmother...
  4. I've had a few comments made on this forum that ever so nearly sent me away from it. I hope for my sake that you don't leave the forum. I'm a long way from getting where you are but the longer gluten-free goes on the more I have to avoid more and more product of many kind. DH has been on the heal but I still itch from head to knee (.. ankle today)....
  5. He is a legend!
  6. Has your toddler been formally diagnosed or do you suspect any other specific allergies, intolerances, behavioural issues, conditions etc? Has he been tested for vitamin deficiencies? Does he have other people (carers-friends,family,babysitters, nanny, etc) that you leave him with? Are his Celiac symptoms only behaviour or are there others you can identify...
  7. My Nan's name was Bonnie I wish you well and lots of "good" Bonnie. "The name Bonnie has two meanings: 1. It is derived from the Scottish word "bonnie" meaning "pretty, attractive". The Scottish word is derived from French "bon, bonne" meaning "good".
  8. How incredibly frustrating for you. And how incredibly irresponsible of your roommate. Did he really bake regular gluten full BREAD ?!?!?!?!? What a dufus ! (Do you use this word in Nth America?) You need to be honest with him about what this is doing to your head and your patience. No one should have to watch on and play along to such double standards...
  9. PLEASE don't apologise. It is good for us to read and learn from your experience. Do you also avoid any/all processed foods? I still have lots to learn and hadn't thought much about fruit / veg until the past week or two!
  10. Sorry, hadn't intended to confuse. I had worked in a bakery for 9months until May/June and my system was so overloaded. DH has been a head-to-ankle nightmare. I still wear clothes from neck to ankle and itch pretty much all day. Regardless of whether it is gluten, salts (iodine) etc in the processed goods the bulk are on my avoid list. I didn't have any significant...
  11. I've been mostly gluten-free since June. Strictly gluten-free and low iodine for 2-3 months. I've gone basically to meat/fruit/veg/rice diet. Sometimes I add a rice noodle or gluten-free corn/rice pasta/rice thins. If I have too much of the processed "gluten-free" and those that the authorities deem to be low enough to be (but not actually) "gluten-free...
  12. You might also keep yeast in mind. Easy one to test too- this is a good least of the yeast/yeastfree options: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  13. Watch out for cornflour! In my early days of gluten-free I had a chef tell me it is "only cornflour". And I could tell with in minutes that the cornflour was not just from corn. I reacted badly and was itchy for nearly three weeks. Since that incident I have been super-diligent about what I eat, drink and put on my skin and it is paying off. Not so itchy...
  14. oommgg.. i'm going to check this out tomorrow. Never been a "sweet tooth" but just about anything is sounding good right now. Everything in small doses I must remember!!!
  15. If you are like me you might be "picky" because it is a problem. I hid under beds at boarding school to avoid breakfast (cereal/toast) and never ate breakfast since. I didn't "like pasta" and rarely ate the bread/bun at meals etc.. but give me a chinese (soy sauces etc is gluten but less of) rice etc I would chow down. Can you describe your "picky...
  16. I had a bad day yesterday (and today and probably going to be few days to get it out of my system). Drink lots of water. It will pass (water or cc etc). And remember how it feels to be good. Keep posting....
  17. Gluten-Free: *I get up from bed in the morning and don't instantly cranky at my son for no particularly important reason *I want to get out of bed in the morning and help my son get to school. *Liam (with encouragement not argument) brushes his teeth. * Today (and I mean today) was the first argument/anxiety fuelled free homework session ever. * Liam...
  18. My gut is telling me you should go the gluten-free route however my brain suggests it may not be the best bet. What do you do when the 8-9 year old gets gluten at school, friends house etc and either 1. reacts violently or 2. thinks its all good so goes for more next time, and again, and again.. and then there is a problem or 3. point number 2 and never reacts...
  19. I just drove up to the local servo (I'm near Canberra) and checked (((I am seriously treat/sweet/chocolate deprived!!!))) Ingredients for both kinds of Snickers had "glucose syrup (sources can be wheat)" so unfortunately I am still treat deprived. I can't tolerate much if any of the "derived from" products
  20. And I just remembered: I started adding (little bit at first) rice into the soup pot after about 4-5 days, replaces the potato as a thickener/filler. From there I moved on to risotto in the rice cooker which again tends to soften the rice better than straight cooked/steamed/boiled rice. Fry onion, garlic, a little (splash) white wine ((not necessary but...
  21. In my early days of gluten-free (about 3 months ago) I had a couple of weeks of not even being able to eat a bowl of plain rice. My stomach and brain were so screwed up that it seemed like food was absolutely unbearable - nauseating and toxic. I stuck to very basic soup for about a week. Pumpkin was easiest to cook and digest for some reason: fry off onions...

    ARCHIVED Dapsone

Thanks everyone. I have been careful to avoid any processed foods but for some reason yesterday was particularly stingy itch and new blisters ((I still don't know what to call the little blighters )) The Cookbook will be so useful. I am getting sick of rice, rice noodles, steak, veg/salad. But I know it was just a bad day and today I have been very...

    ARCHIVED Dapsone

I've had a rotten afternoon/evening. Lots of new eruptions. Itching all over. I really thought I had a hold on my gluten intake (kitchen/bathroom etc) but today I've had the worst day of the past couple of months. I am so so so so sick of itching. I hate the conversation I had to have with my son today about washing his hands/face etc after coming home...
