  1. Oh I am so envious. I am one of those wantabee artists with absolutely no talent. This is my version of drawing a tree: x x x x x x x x x x x x x x | | | | | | _________ What sort of colours / styles are you doing in the rooms? I bet like so many others on this forum...
  2. I would. Reliable, laymens language but in-depth, technical where necessary. Can't get much better than that
  3. I'm no guru but why not. Open Original Shared Link "
  4. Put me on the nerd list too! I've only got a few kilos to reach ideal weight. I'm probably in healthy range now that I think about it One of my workmates is going wheat lite to keep her weight in check. ((Don't worry she isn't a pseudo celiac/GI, just took my suggestion of keeping down the wheat to help with the weight)) This morning she tells me...
  5. I had Schar corn flakes this morning. I think it is in Coles. And no DH flare!! :D Considering how little processed anything I can eat, every new additional is so exciting. The ingredients are very basic and no wheat derived gums etc: Open Original Shared Link I might even be tempted to try those shortbread! It is mighty cold in Canberra...
  6. This is great ! And I agree it is worth the effort. There are only two brands of gluten-free products I can tolerate (one Australian, one German) and only the basic cereals. The only other processed item I eat is rice noodles. I keep testing every now and again to see what my tolerance is like but I think it will be a while yet. I do get pretty sick of...
  7. Make sure you have of a copy of your medical records/results etc for any new doctor. Can you get in touch with any people or support groups/societies in your area and ask for someone with a good reputation dealing with celiac/gluten intolerance?
  8. Or is this a case of specialists going for the big bucks, whether it is taxes, insurance company or the individual paying? I'm not usually a cynic but something smells fishy
  9. Hi Grandma, Be sure to check the date on the topics before you post. Most people will start a fresh topic if they can't find an answer in the search or old posts. But don't let that discourage you from posting on here! You are obviously going to be your grand daughters biggest advocate!! What a lucky girl she is to have you for support and guidance...
  10. I made a lot of simple soups (pumpkin, potato and leek) in the first weeks. Then started adding rice and then went for simple stews/casseroles/quick risotto (in the rice cooker). Easy on the digestion and a big pot meant plenty of easy meals. It meant I wasn't cooking/washing up so much which was a big big plus at the time. It also makes for easy testing...
  11. So you have celiac and additional allergies. Always a tough one. Do you / have you cheated (anyone who hasn't is a saint)? Are you noticing when you accidentally glutened? Can you describe your day to day diet? Snack and drinks included. Do you cook and/or shop for groceries or someone else? How are your cooking skills? Have you checked for...

  16. And if you don't find the diet easy let us know. I'm not diagnosed celiac but what might be Dermatitis Herpetiformis and non-celiac gluten intolerance. It took me a while to get to grips with some health improvement. Been soooo well worth it regardless of diagnosis or not. Don't be afraid to let us know how you are doing. It can be hard with food, habits...
  17. Hello Kylee! 1. Diagnosis: Can you tell us more about the diagnosis? So allergy intolerance ? Celiac? What did the doc (and what sort) actually say to you when you heard the results? and how you were diagnosed (blood, biopsy, skin tests etc). I'm no expert but it helps our more technically savvy members help you out! Any info about this can be very...
  18. I still have so much to learn.. IgG?! Rotation allergy diets???!!! More googles! If anyone has any advice or info like this I would greatly appreciate it. My mum was in the food business (cafes and catering) for 20 years and she taught me basics and she was really on the ball with special diets. Whilst working in a bakery/kitchen I thought myself well...
  19. Oh I am so over stressing. I'm not diagnosed - won't ever go back to the poison even if it all turns out to be something completely different. The past couple of weeks I have just felt so much better than I have in a long time! Just been out throwing the football around with son Liam Worked 9 hours yesterday! Losing weight and almost at healthy (woohoo)...
  20. Good rule Peter! You guys must have spent a lot of time in Canberra walking around in circle and around roundabouts:) There is loads going on around Canberra in Autumn and especially Spring. Winter is hybernation and summer is at the coast. It is one of those places that you really need to know a local to know what is going on around town. Another...
  21. I won't ever ever ever mention politics or politicians ever ever ever again on this forum. I promise We're a pretty apathetic bunch here is Australia when it comes to politics. Mandatory to vote but some ridiculous amount of people who dont or don't both ticking a box. So.. I hadn't anticipated the response. Was just an otherwise boring ol' day in Canberra...
  22. Do you have what we call a GP (general practioner) or others call PCP?
  23. Maybe you will open your own Gluten Free restaurant one day!! I can just see the sign out " NatZag - best gluten free on the lakes " Soup was my saviour in the first couple of months. (I was so ridiculously sleep deprived). Pumpkin with onion/leek and potato/rice blended. Soften onion/leek in the pot, add a bit of potato or rice(straight out of packet...
  24. If it had been within my control it wouldn't have been served. The meal was delivered when I was in a separate area & when I went by the table the guy had eaten most of it already. To top it off the #*$&^*#&$ spent the rest of the shift looking for ways to get back at me. I had a word to the boss when we'd finished. My reality is that educating...
