  1. Oh my.. even if the new job doesn't come about you really need to get out of there. Get a job anywhere until you can get a job that suits you. In Australia working one minute less than 8 hours without a break is absolutely unheard of. In a supermarket you might work 8.30 - 5 with a 10 minute break and an hour lunch. Childcare with 9-5.30 might be 2 x 3...
  2. Avocado is another of our usual ingredients. Yum
  3. Rice paper rolls. Usually do prawns but last/night and tonight is beef with all the usuals: snow pea, carrot, cucumber, spring onion, rice vermicelli, safe soy sauce. We make Liams school lunch at dinner - great in a lunch box. Even takes the soy sauce in a little mini plastic container. Makes all the chopping worth it I wouldn't recommend prawns...
  4. Sorry I should have said: 'like iodine, salicylates CAN BE a contributor'
  5. All our usual great members have everything pretty much covered above - thank you lovely ladies! 1. Salicylates are one to keep an eye out in future too. Like iodine, salicylates are another contributor to our DH problems. Bookmark this page for future reference: Open Original Shared Link 2. Are you getting the liver (etc) test done that can show adverse...
  6. Is your husband gluten free(at home at least? If so why not?
  7. I would definitely NOT dismiss this as dermatitis herpetiformis (DH). I have had head to toe DH for 12 months. It presents very differently on different parts of my body. When you say 'It is skin colored, very itchy bumps all over her face. Not acne. Not excema. Not patchy. Bumps.' I think DH. Very itchy (one of the most in the derm world), obviously not...

    ARCHIVED Fed Up

Please don't apologise for being emotional. Your daughter needs you to be! You should get the wheat allergy letter from your doctor first with something in it about a high level sensitivity to both eaten gluten/cc and topical (to cover the playdough etc). Then find out who else is available in your region who might be more progressive wrt celiac and gluten...
  9. Sounds like it is getting steadily worse? You might want to call that gastro asap and get an emergency appointment. Would be much better than him/her seeing in the emergency department. What/Where did you have lunch?
  10. You should have responded to your MIL with this one: "When do you want me to start poisoning your grandchildren?" Imagine how inappropriate she would have found that!!!

    ARCHIVED Sad :(

It was a few months before I got over this. Hence the past few months feeling good and "free". It is achievable a nd the good life/feeling is there. Just takes time. I am lucky that I see the good time ahead

Gluten has a lot answer for
  14. Oh my.. why do people accept all those other diagnosis like IBS, Fibro etc etc but not celiac/gluten intolerance? Such a mystery. There is a PHD thesis in this. Why are other diagnosis acceptable but another not? Pure psychology and perhaps some history, agricultural/economic PR.. I'm not sure exactly.

    ARCHIVED Sad :(

I've been gluten free going on a year. Having my first glutening in about 7 months and I ain't liking the reminder. On & off the toilet all afternoon, had to have a 3 hour sleep this arvy (and only got up to do dinner for my son). But the worst thing is feeling so damn sad. That stuff plays with my brain worse than the rest (and my DH is pretty bad still...
  16. Pre Gluten-Free my period was getting worse and worse. Pain, bleeding heavy and often over a week (not my normal), bloating etc. Within a month or two of going gluten free I noticed most of this had stopped. Now, 12 months later it is 2 to 3 days max. No pain, bloating etc. I am 39. I am considering doing a grain free test.
  17. It took about 3-4 months before my general outlook improved greatly. Now (12 months later) I wake up early (I was always a bad morning person), I never 'lose it' and my relationship with my 9y/o son has never been better. I want to laugh and take an interest in other peoples stories. Just having a good conversation is amazing! I had to reduce my salicylates...
  18. Good on you prickly pear. Be brave!!!! BTW Excuse my ignorance but what is AI short for?
  19. I hope *you* don't think being gluten free is a "radical lifestyle change". It doesn't need to be. These days I am saving money on the grocery bill and eating are far-far healthy diet. Lots of rice (inc. plain rice crackers and noodles) and fresh meat/veg/fruit, a bit of dairy now I can handle it. I've had to adapt but it is far from radical. When I had to...
  20. just a sympathy post from me. It's been a while since its hit me but we all understand.
  21. Open Original Shared Link I haven't read this one but could be useful.
  22. Here is a bit of research for you: Open Original Shared Link If all of us got onto these kind of websites then the 'usage' as described in the above link could be recognised: Open Original Shared Link This is what I added to urbandictionary: Word: gluten Def: On many celiac/coeliac and gluten intolerance related websites/forums our community...
  23. Have you tried coeliac - this is our British/Australian accepted spelling. Could be that your PC is on British English spelling and you'll need to change it if your local accepted spelling is celiac (as it is in the US). I'm just trying to google about adding words to dictionaries but google is having an out of character dummy spit. Get back to you on that...
  24. Do you know of any DH experienced dermatologists in Canberra or Sydney (Australia)? I live in Canberra but would go to any in the region including up to Sydney. Ta BTW I've posted this in "doctors" forum also - no need to reply to both as I'll check them both.
