ARCHIVED Amy, I Thought You Were My Friend!
bluelotus replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry you are sick. I believe that one of their pasta sauces, labeled gluten-free/DF, made me ill. I called them and they are currently testing some sauce from that batch. I haven't heard back yet though. I'm not planning on buying any more of their products either at this point. -
ARCHIVED Argo Cornstarch?
bluelotus replied to bluelotus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought about the corn intolerance (used to think I had one, but turned out to be lots of sources of hidden gluten I wasn't catching); I seem to handle other sources of corn just fine. I have only gotten sick when I actually try to make real meals (like shepard's pie - had both the corn starch and olive oil, or a chuck roast with gravy that uses corn starch... -
ARCHIVED Argo Cornstarch?
bluelotus posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I am trying to find a source of hidden gluten - may have been Kroger brand olive oil or Argo cornstarch (more likely the starch, but don't know for sure; ultimately, it could be anything). I searched the site and found that some of you have mentioned using Argo without problems. Anyone have problems with either of these? Anyone with the Delphi list... -
I hate being baited too, Deb. And, I'm the type that can barely resist I also hate using public restrooms, esp. when my celiac disease problems kick in

Ohh, Tiffany, what were your muffins? I can't eat dairy either, so I'm interested in what you did. Are these on the recipe thread? Sorry to distract from the love

I love my husband too (and hate the guilt from not mentioning it earlier..... Shhhh, don't tell him ) I also love that although I am in the office, today is an "easy" day and I can check in on the board

I love it when people don't hold grudges I love patience (just wish I had more) I love the Buddist idea that the feeling of seperateness is the source of human suffering (makes you just want to give people hugs and help them heal) I love my kitties - especially when they crawl onto my lap and fall asleep. I love that I have two males, but they get...

Robbin's last hate brought tears to my eyes ---- too true! Thanks, ChelsE....I've been a grad student recluse for the past 3 years, so I am a bit out of the loop. Here's another: I hate how my inner anoexic is smirking that I now have to be so anal about food (I'm in 6+ years of recovery from a "mild form" of an eating disorder and this obsessiveness...

I love that most of you hate what I hate I hate having to be prepared, bringing food with me everywhere. I hate that I have been sick on and off for months because of hidden gluten. I hate that I am losing my hair because of gluten. I hate not being able to kiss my husband. I hate having to explain to my eating habits to people...

bluelotus replied to minibabe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Chapstick is gluten free (the regular flavors anyway) - I have checked this 2x, most recently only a couple of months ago. -
ARCHIVED Help! Cornmeal!
bluelotus replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've had the Gluten Free Pantry cornbread mix without any problems (though it is not as tasty as my prior diagnosis standby - Jiffy.....mmmmmm). -
This is kind of an old thread, but just wanted to see if anyone else has more recent information about a celiac rxn from tattooing? I have 3 tattoos, never had any problems, but all before being dxd. I will be getting one worked on in a couple of weeks. Also, I am not terribly worried about what is in tattoo ink myself. Our water, fish, air, etc. all...

I have a hard time accepting that passing G 10-20x's a day is normal. What is normal? Are most of these normal people undiagnosed celiacs? Yikes! -
ARCHIVED Amy's Pasta Sauce
bluelotus replied to bluelotus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Good idea, Tiffany. I should make a huge batch this weekend. They (Amy's) called and said that they submitted samples for testing, so I'll keep you all posted. -
ARCHIVED Le't Do Organic, Tapioca Pearls
bluelotus replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think its Edward and Sons that either makes or distributes that brand. Search Edward and Sons on google, they have a list of their gluten free items online. -
ARCHIVED Amy's Pasta Sauce
bluelotus replied to bluelotus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow, thanks for the recipe, sounds great! I try to make almost everything from scratch, but once in a while, I am limited on time and have to use a "trust-worthy" brand......guess I should have known better based on others' problems. They did email me back and will be calling me on my cell eventually. They asked if I had saved any of the sauce (of course... -
ARCHIVED Amy's Pasta Sauce
bluelotus posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I know some of you have had problems with Amy's products and that they have tested some of the gluten-free products in the past only to, indeed, find gluten. Knowing this, I still tried their "gluten free" pasta sauce last night and have felt horrible since (mostly fatigue, irritability, and the typical tummy stuff). I emailed them last night to... -
My hidden source is labels - grrrrr. Generic terms like spices, ____ oil, ____ extract have all caused me problems. Also, how's this one for you all - b/c we have to worry about things like stickers and glue, what about the stickers and sticker residue on fruits.....??? Scary..... I don't know if these have gluten, but I just realized that these...

My acne flares up with accidental glutenings (ex. foods I thought were safe that weren't or from a CC issue). Have you been feeling fine otherwise? Proactiv has helped me too and their products are gluten-free. I've been using St. Ives acne scrub every day in the shower on my chest and upper back and this keeps my body acne at bay. However, St. Ives has...

ARCHIVED Email From Cracker Barrel
bluelotus replied to glutenfreeheather's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
The gluten free gourment has a good buttermilk biscuit recipe in her books. I've made sausage and gravy to put over them and they are super yummy. If I have about 20min to type it up and send that out in the near future, I'll do that (I also promised someone a Challah bread recipe on here and never sent that out ... oops). At least CB was honest and... -

ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
bluelotus replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
Exactly. I stopped eating there myself after the first month of diagnosis - I never felt right after eating those things. Rachel makes a good point too - the lawsuit won't help and puts us at risk of future legal issues. The lawsuit will only allow a few to benefit (if more money is considered a benefit )(and some suffer) at the expense of so many...
