  1. Hi. Does anyone know of a gluten free frosting I can buy at the supermarket? I heard Duncan Hines now adds Barley Malt to their Homestyle Frosting. The kids have a party to attend tomorrow, and I need to make cupcakes for them. Would love to frost them.
  2. Tracey, thank God you're so strong. You take excellent care of Emma. She's so lucky to have such a phenomenal mom.
  3. Wow, I want to try this. Thanks!
  4. Awesome
  5. I've taken Bentyl for years for stomachaches with no side effects, and it's worked pretty well too.
  6. Angel, that's awesome! Thank God for moms (and children who listen to them!). I know you're not looking forward to your gluten challenge, but it certainly sounds like you already have the answer. Good luck to you on your gluten free diet. You should get better every day and start enjoying your life once again!
  7. Lister, I've been quietly following your progress for some time. I'm so glad you FINALLY got your diagnosis, and it's a GOOD ONE! Hallelujah! You are also feeling better...that's great news. What meds did the doctor prescribe for you? Anyway, I think this good news is a sign that you can relax and take a deep breath now. Go to sleep with a smile on...
  8. Thanks, Chako. But I'm kind of confused. I understand why Prevacid would help with GERD symptoms, but I don't think my son has a reflux or acid problem. He said his belly was hurting. I'm glad my son feels better, of course, but I don't know if it's the Prevacid or a coincidence and just don't want to get my hopes up high. I've been worried sick for...
  9. Hi. My son was better on his gluten-free diet after a few months. Then symptoms started again, despite being 100% gluten-free. Gastro was too busyt to see him so he called in a prescription for Prevacid. I didn't want to give it to him at first because he was complaining of stomachaches. I thought Prevacid was for acid reflux. Then I became desperate...
  10. I'd have to agree with Lonewolf. It's a lot easier to keep a gluten free house and that way no one should feel left out. Also, I have "scared the crap" out of my kids with lots of information on what could happen should they eat gluten. We are serious about this diet and so do not take it casually. Celiac can be life threatening if you don't adhere to...

    ARCHIVED Aaarrrggghhh!

Try making milk shakes with coconut milk. Just 2 oz. has 12 grams of fat! Also, it doesn't really taste like anything, so it should be easy to mix in with ice-cream and a little condensed milk. I'm going through the same thing with my son. You didn't mention how old you are. When I was in my early 20's I had a lot of trouble gaining weight! Sadly, that...
  12. The Publix by us stinks. Nobody knows what gluten-free is, and the Greenwise portion of the aisle is about 2 feet wide. But I was totally impressed that the Wild Oats by us has little signs under every gluten free product. What a help that is!
  13. Yes, the lack of butt is a symptom in children. My son was very sick before going gluten-free, but he always had a great butt! (go figure?) He's still small and skinny, though. Also, he had the long, beautiful lashes celiacs have, but they shrunk after going gluten-free. Now they're "normal" looking lashes.
  14. That's weird. I tried to order it, and for sure Amazon says that the author is Dr. Green. Doesn't matter. I'm gonna order it anyway. The cake on the cover looks divine!
  15. I've tried some of Annalise Roberts' recipes before and they are fantastic. But the link you just gave on the book says that the author of this book is Peter H.R. Green with a "forward" by Annalise Roberts. ??? I was going to order it, but not if they're not her recipes.
  16. TCA, I know you said you tried the Alimentum formula before, but would you consider giving it another chance? It may have casein, indeed, but this is what their website says: A hypoallergenic formula, Similac® Alimentum® Advance® Protein Hydrolysate Formula with Iron is designed for infants with food allergies or colic due to protein sensitivity. Its pr...
  17. Hi. I've some of the Enterolab tests for my son. He's been gluten-free for about 9 months, was doing great but is now having stomachaches again. Also having leg pains again. This had resolved after a few weeks going gluten-free, but now ??? I'm 100% sure he's eating gluten-free (he's terrified of getting glutened). Out of desperation, I've ordered the...
  18. Has anyone ever felt a "shocking" sort of pain in their stomache? This is how my son describes his stomachache. I don't know what it is or where it's from. He's been gluten-free for about 9 months but still feels this, and it's worrying me.
  19. Hi. We order from Kinnikinnick all the time. Pretty sure they're a Canadian company. I've seen some of their products (like cake mixes) in Wild Oats, but not their breads. We order ours online.
  20. Hi Yudsmom. We're in the same boat. My son started out great on the gluten-free diet, but now (9 months later) I think he's lost some weight. Ocassionally, he'll complain of a stomachache, and I don't know why. We're definitely 100% gluten-free (from makeup, shampoo and toothpaste to crayons and glue). We don't even eat out. This is all so confusing...
  21. Does anyone know how long is long enough for a casein elimination diet. Tried it on my son for 3 days. Day 1 he was better, but since Day 2, he still has stomachaches. If he's still gonna have the stomachache, should I just put him back on milk? Getting desperate!
  22. Thank you everyone. I'm getting ready to throw in the towel, though. He's been off milk for 3 - 4 days, and the first day was great. Since then, he still complains of some pain, although not as bad, and he hates the Vanilla Soy Milk, even with Hershey's strawberry syrup. He's also very depressed, since he can't have milk and the only desserts he liked...
  23. Wow, TCA. Bless your heart, you have a lot on your plate here. I'm going through a scary situation too, just different. I don't have an answer for you, but I just wanted to tell you that I've said a prayer for you and your little girl this morning, for guidance, comfort, peace. Hugs, Mart
  24. Any chance they are casein free?
  25. Heather, I surely understand your frustration. Your daughter sounds a lot like mine. She's 12 now, but boy did she give us trouble with constipation. Her celiac panel was also inconclusive, although her brother's was positive. Some how, we got through her severe constipation and bellyaches, and she outgrew them. If I were you, I would re-do those tests...
