  1. Carly, i agree with everything that was said, but just wanted to add that this. i dont have any skin rxns to gluten, but i use my hands to apply things like shampoo, makeup, lotions, etc. So if i then eat something, i dont want to accidentally ingest gluten, in any amount. So i personally dont use any products that contain gluten and i find there are enough...
  2. oh good, im not crazy i used to have those dreams ALL THE TIME when i first went gluten-free. i think b/c i was thinking about it so much- those dreams have gone away...although occasionally if i eat something that has a low level of gluten (accidentally) and then go to sleep, ill have a dream about getting sick from it and then will wake up in the am...
  3. so how about this story: a few weeks ago it was my bday and i threw a party at a bar. Well, my fav drink is ketel one on the rocks- and it never makes me sick so thats continued on my gluten-free diet. so i order one at my bday party, take a sip and it tastes AWFUL. But i had seen him pour it so i knew it was ketel one. Stupidly, i drank it anyway...
  4. I use Cascade, which I am fairly certain is gluten free.
  5. Could it be dehydration? I only ask b/c you say it is worst in the morning and thats usually from dehydration. Do you notice that it is very yellow? and painful? When is the last time you had a urinalysis? Hope you feel better
  6. Ok here it is- let me know how it tastes!!! CRUST DRY INGREDIENTS: 1 3/4 c gluten free Bob's Red Mill all purpose baking flour, 1 1/2 tsp Bob's Red Mill xantham gum, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tbsp sugar, 1/2 tsp dried thyme CRUST WET INGREDIENTS: 1/4 c butter (room temp), 1/2 c milk, 1 large egg, 1/2 tsp cider vinegar...
  7. I use Kirkland brand too- its the cheapest, it doesnt make me sick, and i find it works the best of any brand i've taken!
  8. Just had an experience i wanted to share... Though i usually shop at an organic store that has more gluten-free products, i go to food emporium once or twice a week b/c i love their fruit. I find i cant buy much else there but fruit, milk, etc. Last night I went to buy those things and they put a flyer in my bag. I got home and was about to throw it...
  9. I'm sorry your feeling sick, we've all been there-- and the only thing that can make it worse is not being able to figure out what it is thats causing it, b/c it makes u feel like u have to cut out everything you ate that day!! As for terra chips, this has been my experience: the assorted vegetable ones and the regular sweet potato ones are fine, but...
  10. I am up for it too!! but that cake sounds good too...we may have to try some variety!
  11. Danielle- thats terrible! i am so sorry that you are not feeling better! i never actually did an elimination diet b/c the gluten free diet cleared things up for me, but if you are still feeling sick, you may want to consider it. Although, it does sound like u are responding well to the diet, so you may want to give ur body anther week or two to recover...
  12. I know right! its so funny, my friends keep calling me to say "I just read about you in the times, heard you like to eat a lot!" should i be proud?!
  13. It is gluten free. I drink ketel one- it is distilled in wheat but the distillation process leaves no gluten in the end product. Other vodkas are made from corn (i think smirnoff is one) or potatoes (like Chopin) and those are definitely safe too. But i have never had a problem w/ the wheat-distilled vodkas and i drink them frequently ( i mean when i drink...
  14. Yasmin is gluten-free, i think most pills are. And i have been on many different ones, and felt yasmin was the best for painful cramps and the least side effects. Good luck!
  15. I was quoted in this article!! (although, i actually never said the things i was quoted as saying)-- the only thing they got right is that I dont make any excuses for eating a lot its in the NYTimes today - Open Original Shared Link
  16. i like to have gluten free granola (i like Enjoy Life brand) either w/ yogurt or milk. It takes less than a minute to prepare and u can even put it in a plastic cup and eat on the go w/ a spoon. I mix it up- sometimes skim milk, sometimes soy, and sometimes plain yogurt w/ a little honey (plain yogurt doesnt taste good to me otherwise, but i havent found...
  17. wow, that is such a relief to know- it sounds like u actually have a knowledgable doctor needless to say, i wont be eating gluten anytime soon, but if this is true, it puts a lot of undiagnosed celiacs at risk for accidental pregnancy!
  18. I drink Ketel One all the time (i mean when i drink, i dont drink all the time )and i have never had a problem. But are there vodkas that are not safe? I know flavored vodkas may contain gluten, but i thought all straight vodkas were fine...
  19. I only feel comfortable having oil/vinegar at restaurants b/c I too have had problems w/ dressings. One place everytime i go i ask for oil and vinegar and instead i get balsamic vinagrette- there is def gluten in it b/c i get sick everytime! needless to say i stopped eating lunch there!
  20. I was most recently on Yasmin but went off of it around the same time i stopped eating gluten, so i guess i cant really tell if it would have been better. But before going gluten free, I had some "absorption" problems in that i kept experiencing breakthrough bleeding, clotting and such. This may be a stupid question, but i have to ask: does this potential...
  21. Sounds convenient! 6 is fine w/me, i'm not working until after finals. I cant wait to go! Lauren, keep us posted, glad ull at least join us on Jan 6
  22. I know it's hard, but remember that everyone makes mistakes.. In fact, i almost did the same thing when i last visited my parents- they keep their waffles and Vans for me and i grabbed the wrong one, opened the package and almost made them! I know people get into their heads that if a brand has gluten-free offerings, everything they make will be gluten-free...
  23. I dont know if u can have soy but Soy Delicious ice creams are gluten-free, all flavor (except the obvious, like cookies and cream). They say that the only products that contain gluten are the ones in which it is obvious in the title- makes it easy!
  24. Dec 9th it is!! i can do 6 or 6:30, so ill leave it to the working people to decide which works better for u-- Cant wait!!!! And Lauren, so glad you are gonna make it down on Jan 6-- if ur free Dec 9th u should come then too!
