    ARCHIVED P. F. Changs?

I noticed they use the same spoon when mixing the sauces up so. I skipped the sauce the last time I ate there.
  2. Yeah, I didn't see that ending coming!
  3. I bet Enterolab has information about this, you might try emailing them. They did have a 100% correlation between celiacs and their fecal antibody testing. He is a researcher so he probably does have info about this.
  4. Just want to correct this. I heard Dr. Fine speak in San Diego to the local celiac group. Something like 1% test positive for celiac disease by the routine standard testing. Dr. Fine does not test for celiac disease, he tests for gluten sensitivity. He find it in a much higher rate than celiac disease. But he says most of those people also have symptoms...
  5. Can I have yours? Seriously, it was the best dessert I've had in ages.
  6. I have two suggestions. You might want to read Dr. Bernstein's book on dietary control of diabetes and you might want to check in with Open Original Shared Link. There are a lot of people control their diabetes (type 2 and pre-diabetes) with diet and many of them are very knowledgeable about the various drugs. I'm sure they can answer a lot of questions...
  7. Dr. Fine is a very good, very respected gastroenterologist doctor and researcher. His work is very cutting edge but he hasn't published his findings. When he does, he's going to take a lot of flack because he's finding that gluten sensitivity is much, much more prevalent than anyone ever supected. I've heard him speak at our local Celiac group and...
  8. I don't think gluten is like a light switch for a lot of us. We aren't immediately sick and in misery, it takes awhile to build up. Your daughter might have small amounts of damage that might takes months to recreate her prior symptoms. I've challeged myself and didn't really have any major reaction yet how can I forget the years of IBS and brain...
  9. I make pancakes out of anything and everything. Coconut flour, flax meal, almond meal. I've probably used pumpkin in them too. I used to love bread too, but I've given all that up trying to stay healthy and avoiding the carby foods, which make me too fat.
  10. Did you get the fecal fat test done? That would show malabsorption that celiacs often have and make it more likely you have villi issues. Enterolab doesn't diagnose celiac disease, they diagnose gluten sensitivity. So you might have it or you might not. Lots of times the blood tests don't even find it yet the biopsy does.
  11. I can't recall where I read it but I did read that 30% of thyroiditis sufferers will have remission if they go gluten-free. You might want to check out The Gluten File. There's more than just "classic symptoms". Lots of people have related autoimmune diseases, arthritis, and even worse... brain involvement. Why not try the diet and see if it helps...
  12. The prices are that bad in CA too. Every year they blame the refineries. Why must they close them at the time of the year that demand is the greatest?
  13. Just wanted to give you a heads up, there's a blog by a neurologist at renegadeneurologist.com and he sometimes write about Parkinson's. You can search the blog for the topic.
  14. Nuts are pretty hard to digest. That's why I think the SCD diet might help you, it concentrates on easy to digest thing. I think my gut is fairly healthy now that I've been gluten-free/CF for 1.5 years but even now if I overdo the nuts (or eat much of any sort of seed) I will have diarrhea.
  15. You might want to try the SCD diet, minus the dairy. It is very healing on the gut. There are plenty of things to eat other than rice and corn. Pork, beef, chicken, fish, goat, lamb to name a few proteins. The entire fruit and vegetable kingdom which is entirely too large to list, minus a few grass plants. I had to keep a journal to figure out that...
  16. I noticed any time I have chips, like corn chips, I get intestinal issues again. Other than occassionally falling off my paleo diet (no grains, no dairy) I don't usually eat corn.
  17. I think you might be able to identify with this story: Open Original Shared Link I hope you're getting the help you need. *hugs*
  18. My Thai dining card says to check fish sauces, soy sauces, noodles, fish cakes, boullions. I've never found a fish sauce that has wheat, so you should be safe. But make sure they know you can't have soy sauce.
  19. What sort of extended stay hotel only has a hot plate and a fridge? Usually everyone I've been to has a fridge, microwave, and quite often a range/oven. Could you find a different place to stay? Maybe get on the internet and search for a better hotel, it'll probably list ammenities. I think though, even with a hot plate and fridge you could do it. ...
  20. I've bought some of the flour those noodles are made from. Because it is virtually 100% fiber it is very hard to digest. Everything I've seen suggests you should start with a small serving and work up. Heh! Food shouldn't require training...
  21. Well, I hope you're right. But one thing to consider is, if there is a small amount of damage it could take a long time to build up to noticable levels again. That's why I'm always a wee bit skeptical of claims that people are cured of their celiac or gluten sensitivity. They might feel much, much better but what if it is just a small amount of damage...
  22. A high IGA is associated with gluten sensitivity according to Dr. Lewey thefooddoc.com. You might still have celiac disease though, it would take a biopsy to know for sure. There's also a lot of people with brain related gluten sensitivity that have IGA and nothing else. Either way, you should still try the diet, you might be surprised.
  23. Do you use dairy products? Open Original Shared Link
  24. I meant the butterfinger. Lindt is "real food" in my book. I find "real food" rarely comes from a vending machine.
  25. I can't resist the urge to comment... why is it that the unwholesome food issuing from an industrial food factory, like a butterfinger, is considered real? I think it is barely able to fit the definition of food, much less real food. Sorry, when you've read "The Omnivore's Dilemma" it makes you question things like this.
