  1. This is really odd. I have been gluten free since September. I went dairy free on 1/1/06 and my chronic semi-diarrhea has gotten worse! I've really clamped down on my diet. I'm just eating meat, squash, lettuce, chicken, oil, vinegar, almonds, coconut milk yogurt, figs and dates. I'm becoming suspicious of the almonds so I won't eat any more of them...
  2. I've got issues with dairy. I'm hoping that staying off dairy for 6 months or so, in addition to gluten, might make that go away. I don't think there's much research about the long term effects of dairy intolerance. I figure I've got 20 years of autoimmune stress from the wheat, I shouldn't rock the boat too much more.
  3. Whoops! Missed that excellent list. You know, this could explain some things, like why my eyelid swells up to the size of a walnut every now and then.
  4. Rachel, do you have any links to this sensitivity? I'm still trying to get to the bottom of my aches and pains, perhaps this could help.
  5. Intesting! I wish you the best. I wonder if this might explain my odd sensations and pains in my abdominal area. Got a gyno appt today, I'll ask about it.
  6. Just curious if anyone else has this since it seems the right side pain got a lot of "me toos"!. I've been feeling odd in my left side. It isn't really pain, just feel more like... being poked with a finger in my innards. That is the side with my one remaining ovary so I'm going to ask for a thorough ovarian/uterine cancer screening. But sometimes it...
  7. I'm off all milk and grains and soy at least for awhile. I'm using lots of coconut milk. Just got through making a batch of coconut milk yogurt! Actually, it turns out more like kefir than yogurt, but it is good! I mix a bit of sweetener with it and some lemon juice and it makes an awesome drink!
  8. I use valerian root capsules and melatonin and an anti-histamine (makes me drowsy). I wake up feeling fine!
  9. I've read that it is possible to do, that some bakers are celiacs. I myself have often thought I'd love to go to cooking school, but it seems like I'd have a really hard time testing out my own cooking!
  10. My own personal theory is it isn't slim at all because human beings have only been eating grain for 10,000 years and that isn't necessarily long enough to have completely adapted. Worse yet, we might never adapt because for a lot of us, we live long enough to reproduce and raise children. Dr. Fine is looking for gluten antibodies in the gut and is finding...
  11. Your daughter's symptoms remind me of low-blood sugar attacks I used to get. Are they eating a lot of starches and sugars? That'll do it to me every time. I try to concentrate on eating low-sugar foods, lots of protein and veggies and low-sugar fruits (berries are great!). There are all sorts of nutritional deficencies that happen with this disease...
  12. Dr. Me and Dr. Fine figured it out. I ran into a poster from this message forum (Hi Rachel) on a thyroid forum and she told her story and a light bulb went off in my head and I was pretty sure it was my problem too. So I just decided to try a gluten free diet and my constant IBS cleared up. That clinched it for me. But I wanted an official diagnosis so...

    ARCHIVED Entrolab Results

Yes, I've seen people posting here and also at Open Original Shared Link who have gotten cleared of it, or their family member. Its sort of a self-selecting group here, ones that post here tend to be folks that actually do have a problem with gluten.
  14. It is definitely possible. Sometimes they don't hit the right spot with the biopsy. Have you considered going gluten free to see if you feel better?
  15. I assume they're sending it to all their patients, at least that they have valid email addresses for. Its also on his web site. Its open to anyone!

    ARCHIVED Always Hot

One of my symptoms was feeling hot, fast, hard heart beat. It was kind of spooky.
  17. There was a little feller on TV, "Mystery diagnosis", who had no GI symptoms at all. But he just didn't grow well, didn't develop well mentally and had seizures and went all spacey eyed and non-responsive. It was a very unusual range of symptoms.
  18. Just got this from Enterolab. Good news about him publishing! I can't wait to see it!
  19. I just started this today. I don't have the book (it is on order) and I'm going off info from a web site. I really hope it helps me get my intestines to feeling better! One things though, I'm casein intolerant. So I'm going to try making yogurt from coconut milk. My first try came out very liquid, didn't set up at all, but it tastes good! I have been...
  20. Hey! Maybe this is why I love chili peppers so much!
  21. I've been following a low carb diet for years. Low carb means, no sugar and starchy grains or starchy veggies, but definitely lots of non-starchy veggies and berries. However low carb breads and baking things started to creep into my diet. And they're all heavy in gluten because it is the protein part of wheat. Thus I got sick and sicker. So giving up...
  22. Honeyvillegrain.com rocks for interesting baking ingredients. Open Original Shared Link
  23. I've heard you can forego the wafers and just have a sip of the wine instead. Have you looked into that?
  24. Wow! That's horrible. I was just watching 60 minutes the other night and they showed how Walgreen's was costing 4-5x more for prescriptions than other sources. You'd think you'd get some sort of good service for that $$'s.
  25. I've been dieting for 3 years, most of it low carb but a lot of gluten in my diet because gluten is actually high protein, low carb and rather low in calories. It has been a huge struggle to lose weight. I'm hoping now that the gluten (and now dairy) are gone it'll be easier. But I've noticed my appetite is bigger! At least my belly isn't bloated...
