  1. We're sort of damned if they do, damned if they don't. They can do several things: 1) Tell us to go to heck. 2) Make a better effort to acheive full disclosure. 3) Continue the way they have been with half-disclosure. Personally, I'd rather either have #1 or #2 than what the status quo was, #3. At least you know where they stand and whether or not...
  2. I love bittersweet chocolate that has no dairy or wheat in it. Its usually the stuff that indicates the percentage of chocolate in the bar like 70% or more *drool*. But I seem to always react to it with an odd feeling in the tum and a bit of diarrhea the next day. Could my body play so fouly with me by denying me chocolate? Anyone else have an issue with...
  3. I had Graves too. Lets see... rapid heart beat, pounding heart, palpitations, itchy skin, hair-trigger temper, huge startle reflex, tremors in hands (eating soup was NOT fun!), sweating and diarrhea were my main symptoms. I hope you are ok! Don't let them rush you into RAI, shoot for letting it go into remission.
  4. I'm unclear on how they're getting cross-contaminated if they use a clean pair for each customer? Why would they be sticking the clean pair of tongs they got for you into pasta?
  5. There is your answer right there.
  6. Breakfast: 2 turkey sausages Lunch: Large mixed greens salad with greek olives, proscuitto and chicken, oil and vinegar Snack: Left over pork rib and probably a tangerine Dinner: Brussel sprouts with ghee, pork ribs Dessert: coconut milk ice cream and strawberries
  7. What a fantastic response that was! Wow! That should send a danged strong message!
  8. Is anyone else concerned about the qualification of their gluten free statement with "direct ingredient". What does that mean?
  9. LOL! I should say so! I figured maybe the open it up, yank the camera out and put it inside another capsule. This is the coolest technology! Reminds me of when they miniaturized guys and injected them into someone blood stream in some movie.
  10. Gyros should be ok if they don't do anything funky to it. It should just be lamb, onion, majoram, rosemary and garlic.
  11. I was sort of figuring that. But doesn't it take days for it to pass? Or does it get through in those 6 hours? And do they retrive it and reuse it? Oh dear... I really shouldn't think so hard.
  12. Just curious... how is the camera retrieved? Or is it? Why must I always be the one to ask the difficult questions?!?!
  13. Dr. Fine says the intestines can heal up pretty well even as soon as two days of going gluten free and it can take years to get them messed up again to the point of detecting the disease through blood tests or biopsy. And you really do have to be pretty sick to get a positive on the biopsy. I really think the current standard lab tests are very bad at detecting...
  14. I doubt it because they look at those biopsy slides with a microscope. Are you going to swallow a camera? How cool is that!
  15. Nope. You're probably thinking of malt, which is another common ingredient in beer.
  16. Wow! What timing. I just went to the Rhuemy on Friday and he diagnosed me with "hypermobility syndrome". I had already read up on Ehlers Danlos and asked if it could be that. He said "no". However... I think he ruled it out too soon. There's a lot of degress and variations in it. I have the easy bruising, the multiple underskin fatty tumours of it...
  17. I got diagnosed through Enterolab.com so I can't help with the GI recommendation. Although I am following up with a GI, I don't see him until next month. I'm pretty scared of eating out. I went to PF Chang's in UTC and I think I got a little gluten. The waitress mixed up a dipping sauce, using what she said was gluten free soy sauce, but she didn...
  18. I'm a simple food eater too. I'm 4 months gluten-free, 1 month CF and its taking a lot to get this all under control. I try to make everything myself and avoid any grains or dairy. It is working! Every time I try to eat out I usually end up sick no matter how careful I am. Simple is my solution!
  19. I think this is a pretty balanced analysis of the information available on Splenda: Open Original Shared Link
  20. Trader Joe's has quite a few very dark chocolates that don't contain any milk. Also Lindt has some bittersweet chocolate without milk (I believe).
  21. I'm about to see a rheumatologist too, first time for me. I was just dx'd with gluten sensitivity and I autoimmune issues in my history. I've been on a diet that is similar to the Paleo diet and my symptoms have been really good for awhile. I have been suspecting Lupus for myself too. But... we shall see.
  22. I really think it is very like a drug. You're out of the initial detox phase, but it still calls to you. All I can say is I think it will call less and less as time goes by. I had given up all carby refined foods about 3-4 years ago, but I started back on them again (occassionally) before I figured out the gluten intolerance thing. Most of these 3-4 years...
  23. Enterolab can detect the antibodies for quite awhile after being gluten free. I had been gluten-free for about 3 months. And, of course, the DNA test isn't dependent on eating anything.
  24. Celiac is also linked to autoimmune diseases like Lupus. Sometimes getting off the foods you're intolerant to can make those diseases go into remission. You are lucky to have a good rheumy!
  25. You should get your Free T3 and Free T4 checked. They're not the same as T3 and T4, they're the amount of T3 and T4 that are unbound and available. Few doctors check them. I had a below range FT3 reading yet my TSH and totals were fine. I felt like pooh. As far as thyroid info, if you want to educate yourself there are some great sites out there...
