ARCHIVED Are There Various Levels One Can Tolerate Gluten Without Symptoms?
marciab replied to rubyred's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes .. I have a friend who can get by with being CC'd on a regular basis, but when it finally hits, he knows he has to back off all possible gluten for awhile. He appears to be very insensitive to gluten where as I get CC'd / sick very quickly. But, it would be hard to know what extent you've been CC'd if you're eating gluten-free foods since our standards... -
It could also be a blood glucose problem. Open Original Shared Link

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
marciab replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
A few months ago, I had stool testing for food intolerances by Dianos-Techs and was glad I did. It showed that I getting gluten antibodies still and that I was allergic to egg whites. I'd been making my own mayo with eggs so this was a shock. I thought I was fine with them. It came back positive for candida and some kind of digestive immune system problem... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....

It could be the fiber in the oats too. I have a few freinds who use oats as a laxative. Flax meal is good for this too. I started on the oats because I wanted to make oatmeal choc chip cookies for a celiac mtg. I used Bob's choc chip cookie mix and this and it turned our really well .. be sure to add some water too. I used 6 tblsp ... Then I... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
marciab replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
The oats went down really well. They gave me a full calm feeling in my stomach that I'm not getting from the other foods I'm eating. I'm mostly Paleo so I'm mostly eating meats, fruits and veggies. I know I overdid it though ... I've always like the taste of oatmeal. Good tip on the Sunbutter. I have soy issues too but forgot about it when I was eating... -
ARCHIVED Treating Oi/nmh Associated With Cfs/me/fm Or Cfids
marciab replied to marciab's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I wanted to bump this and update it ... I'm still using Himalayan, celtic and Redmond's salt. I really can't say that I've noticed any further improvement in this. I did notice on occassion that if I feel weak, a shot of salt will bring me back to life but so will eating. And I still have to eat every 2 -3 hours. I'm still struggling with chronic hypoglycemia... -
Sudden Spells Of Extreme Sleepiness When Glutened
marciab replied to raisin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I could've written this .. Narc episodes are very different from hypoglycemic. I used to try to sleep standing up. I think the only think keeping me awake was my nocturnal myoclonus (jerking when I'd go into REM). I'm working on my OI (orthostatic intolerance) now too. Sorry to get off topic, but have you tried salt loading ? It helps quite a... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....

Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time. I was doing this for the first 2 - 3 years but now I'm recovering quicker now. I was told it's probably because my nutrient levels are have built back up .. which is true ... my labs show this. Have you had your nutrient levels tested ? And have you tried DPP-IV ? I've heard a lot of people say that... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
marciab replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
That was the certified gluten free one too ... I woke up with myoclonus in my hand this morning and I know it's been at least 2 years since I've done that ... It could always be a problem with oats too. I love 'em and couldn't wait to try these. Maybe my body started creating antibodies to oats proir to going gluten free since I was eating so much of them... -

So far I've only tried the name brand Natural Sunbutter by Sun Gold foods .. it says gluten-free on the label. I've been ok with it .. This is my 4th jar in the last 2 months ... I forgot .. here's the leaky gut article I've been looking at ... Open Original Shared Link -

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
marciab replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Have you tried Sunbutter ? It's made from sunflower seeds and it's better than peanut butter .. I'm a super sensitive celiac too. It really sucks ... I'm fairly certain I'm reacting to Bob's Red Mill oatmeal now. Of course I ate it for 4 days straight so that didn't help. I don't get "D" either. At least not anymore. I had it all the time before... -
I agree all this info can be overwhelming but getting your nutrient levels tested could save you some recovery time. I was tested after about a year on the diet and found to be B12 and iron deficient. I felt a whole lot better once I got those built back up. And .. I was just retested a few months ago, 3 years after starting the diet and found out...

ARCHIVED Mother With Celiac And Anemia, Reactions To Iron?
marciab replied to dd4glutenfree's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome. I had iron and B12 anemia when I was first diagnosed as a celiac too .. While I don't remember exactly how those iron pills affected me, I did have to stop them. I used a cast iron pan and ate rare beef and buffalo to get my iron back up. If it's too low a doctor can order iron IV's, but my doc thought the risk involved with these was too great... -
ARCHIVED How Sensitive Is "very Sensetive"?
marciab replied to raisin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That sounds like a good idea ... Maybe title it something like "Tips for those who want to avoid ALL gluten" ... Something that doesn't sound fanatical but realistic ... I would avoid the super sensitive label ... since it appears that too many celaics aren't aware of how minute amounts of gluten are affecting them so they'd skip over this .... (this... -
ARCHIVED How Sensitive Is "very Sensetive"?
marciab replied to raisin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The downside to starting a seperate thread is that there are so many celiacs out there that don't think they qualify but they just don't know how gluten is affecting them. And, I have seen some that don't care since it's a minimal inconvenience for them. Something they can live with .. And trust me, if I could cheat, I would too ... I see this in... -
ARCHIVED How Sensitive Is "very Sensetive"?
marciab replied to raisin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm one of those who is incredibly sensitive too. All I can think of when I hear others questioning this is that they don't have the reactions we do ... or they haven't learned what reactions they'e having to gluten. I know someone who knows he gets really moody from it but it's up to his wife to point it out ... I get myoclonus and insomnia if... -
I had this problem for years and so I know how uncomfortable it is. I can't remember exactly when it went away ... my myoclonus started to go away after 7 months on the diet but most of my symptoms were with me for at least the first year or two. I'm still working on a couple .. Good to know it has a name .. have you googled Anhidrosis gluten ?

ARCHIVED How Can I Change The Title ?
marciab replied to marciab's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Sounds good ... Give me a minute .. I got a new laptop for XMAS and it's being a real pain right now ... thanks ... -
I accidently hit the wrong key and submitted a post starting a new thread before I was finished with the title. It's in the post recovery section ... Can you change it to read "Is it possible to heal from celiac while eating gluten ? " Or can you tell me how to change the title ... thanks ... marcia

ARCHIVED Liberty Bakery: Ships To 48 States!
marciab replied to Missteya's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had 1/2 of a white cupcake with white icing and 1/2 a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing on Saturday at Paradise Health Food store in Melbourne and they were yummy. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. You couldn't tell that they had been frozen. Any chance of increasing the market to include Publix or Super Walmart ? I'm Paleo so I can't have...
