  1. Here's the cooler I was talking about -- only $20! Open Original Shared Link
  2. "Battery Operated Coolers" -- Those get me through road trips -- It costs a little bit, but my food stays cold the whole trip...I pack sandwiches, Amy's Mac N Cheese, Juice boxes, soda, Cottage Cheese, Yogurts, etc...
  3. All the information I have read/seen has said thatg KAhlua was gluten free. Also, I have never heard of a vodka company re introduing the "glutenous" material after distillation/filtration/ That would be akin to adding coffee grounds to your coffee after you make coffee (by the way, there is no chance the gluten molecules could get past the distillation...
  4. If anyone has a Fleming's near them, you should definitely try it. The Flemings potaotes are "Ohso Good" and gluten free. Their steaks are also incredible (albeit pricey). I usually have my birthday/special events there or Maggiano's. If you email the President at Taco Time, he will give you some gluten free options also.
  5. For any newbies reading this thread --- Envelope glue has been known to contain gluten. Back to your originally scheduled thread....
  6. 99 % of beer is made with malted barley. I used to work in a brewery... <Sniff Sniff>
  7. I second the Fast Food Fries -- they were pretty darn good -- the only bad thing is they take a little while in th oven, but it is a small sacrifice for good home cooked fries. Armetta, I amn concerned that the Tots are not on Ore Ida's gluten free list...I wonder what gives. The ingredients seem ok.
  8. Open Original Shared Link Here is their list. I didn't see the tater tots on their list....
  9. If it makes anyone feel better, Every "legal" show on television is almost 100% false when comparing it to the real world. Especially the courtroom excerpts. Judges simply don't allow attorneys to "wheel n deal" like they do in Boston Public, Law N Order, etc. Most courtrooms are pretty boring places and most witness examinations are insufferable to...
  10. that's what I am talking about. One doctor jsut learned something -- I guarantee he was not the only one. I had two co-workers talk to me about the show and Celiacs and its potential consequences. The only effect this show has is a positive one for the celiac disease world. The problem is some people want varying levels of how positive it was. For me...
  11. Typically, I eat a Ham N Cheese Sandwich (Kinnikinnick Bread), Turkey n Cheese or Sausage n Cheese Sandwich (or bagel or english muffin, etc) I also usually drink 1 "Ensure" in the a.m. to get me going (plus, they have great amounts of vitamins in them).
  12. ChelsE, I understand what your are saying, but I think the bottom line is that the show ENCOURAGES dialogue and communication. More mainstream people now have questions about the disorder. I, for one, look forward to talking about this and educating those people (its not House's job to educate). Does anyone here really think they would do a show on...
  13. Personally, I did not mind the storyline or how it was presented. With regards to celiac disease in the mass media, I am all about "Baby Steps". This was a first and there will be a second and a third... The great thing about this show was that it encourages conversation on this topic in forums other than Celiac websites. Furthermore, the normal...
  14. Amstel Light is not gluten free. No one should drink this beer. Gluten Free is Europe does not always mean "Gluten Free".
  15. If you call them, they are affiliated with a shipping compnay that will ship you a case. However, that costs like $70 My post was meant to encourage everyone to bring your local health food stores (Henry's, Trader Joes, Wild Oats, Whole Foods) and Lakefront brewery together. Normally, they will not do it by themselves. They need "help". And that...
  16. Go to this site www.lakefrontbrewery.com Talk to the guys about bringing "New Grist" where you live Then Talk to Whole Foods or Wild Oats about the product Then Talk to a distributor in the area about getting it. Repeat this several times with numerous emails. Eventually they will succomb and bring you the sweet sweet beer. It...
  17. I have to admit...before I had Celiac, I didn't think white bread had wheat in it...

  19. If you get a chance, try Flemings Steakhouse. It is expensive, but it is awesome. I actually worked with the Corporate office in determing their gluten free menu selections (they were wrong on a bunch of stuff so I had to intervene and "right the ship") I love their Bone-In Ribeye, Petit Filet, Roasted Chicken and Pork Chops (they serve the Pork...
  20. Can't gop worng there... Makers is "nummers"....
  21. If I remember correctly, JENVAN has a great recipe for meatloaf... Maybe she will post it again..
  22. Another good choice is to make "Twice-Baked Potatoes" with bakers. Just bake the potaotes as you usually do (the bigger the better) When you are done, cut them in halves. Scoop out the insides of the tater with a spoon. Take all the insides, and put them in a mixing bowl. Add Butter, little cream cheese, Pepper Jack cheese and some milk (Salt...
  23. I feel the same way about tequilas...(when I'm drunk)
  24. My personal favorites are Booker's or Basil Hayden They are both premium boubons and have a smoother taste than Jim Beam (not that there is anything wrong with Beam)...
  25. If you use "pop-up" toasters, you need to get a strictly gluten free toaster. They are like $10 at Target. Otherwise, cross-contamination is a HUGE issue. In my house, my roommates and I just get squeezable condomints and such (I buy my own butter).
