ARCHIVED Gluten Free/decaf Hot Chocolate?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been wanting to make pumpkin bread! Right before I was diagnosed, our element in the stove went out and we JUST got a new one. Once my mom gets over letting other people use it, I definitely want to make pumpkin bread. I don't care if it's out of season! Ooh, that does sound pretty good. I think a lot of it with me, and maybe others newly diagnosed... -
I've had a semi-frequent issue with sleep paralysis for years now. That, mixed with my chronic fatigue and inability to stay awake even when struggling - led me to believe I had narcolepsy. I was tested for narcolepsy and diagnosed with Idiopathic Central Nervous System Hypersomnia..which is close to narcolepsy. This was in August of 2012. I was prescribed...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free/decaf Hot Chocolate?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hmm...that is disappointing. I think they have decaf green tea, but still...agh. It's so much work just to try to be healthy. I pretty much only drink tea when I'm sick or when it's cold out, just to have something warm. I wish I liked herbal tea. I tried two different brands - Celestial Seasonings and then another brand that my sister bought for me... -
ARCHIVED Low Sugar Diet For Candida Management
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hmm, I'll keep the probiotics in mind. Do you see a nutritionist? I am wondering if it's worth it with all of my dietary restrictions. The no alcohol thing isn't a problem for me, I never really got into drinking...but I don't like meat...I guess in the morning I can start having eggs, but is cheese okay? I don't want to fully give up sugars, just cut back... -

Wintersong - If only! I'm not sure if it's gluten free, though...that could be partially why I got sick. For all I know the flavoring is malted. I really don't know - I just know the last few times I drank it I got really, really sick. Adalaide - I love tea, but I mostly just like black tea. I know green tea is supposed to be good for you, as is herbal... -
ARCHIVED Coping With This New Life
Waitingindreams replied to annajazz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was just diagnosed in July, so I am pretty new to this diet/lifestyle myself! Like you, i also have a lot of allergies/intolerances...so what I could eat was already limited. (I have oral allergy syndrome, which means no fresh fruit/vegetables, I'm lactose intolerant, and now I'm apparently allergic to peanuts on top of having celiac disease. And i just... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Vegetarian Gravy?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you! Apparently the Stop & Shop near my house carries it, or at least carries that brand. I'll have to check it out. I think gravy is the only thing I need to worry about making gluten free at this point. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Vegetarian Gravy?
Waitingindreams posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This will be my first gluten-free Thanksgiving. I'm not very interested in stuffing, but I know I can find a few recipes if I really want to. The mashed potatoes are gluten free, and I am getting my own turkey breast that I might cook some vegetables with. The desserts will be easy to figure out, I'm just wondering about the gravy. I LIKE beef/chicken... -
ARCHIVED Low Sugar Diet For Candida Management
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
If rice isn't okay, I don't think I could ever stick to this diet faithfully - but like you said, I could at least cut back significantly. Rice is a pretty big staple in my diet, but I try not to eat it as much as I was. The problem is I don't eat meat, fish or shellfish...(I really can't stand the taste/smell) but I do like lettuce, broccoli, green beans... -
ARCHIVED Boyfriend's Sister Is A Pastry Chef - Misinformed About Celiac?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for the link! Any resources are helpful. I keep trying to get my mom to come on this site too. She's trying to help, but she simply doesn't get it either. She thinks I'm being over dramatic because I need to read all labels/research brands before I just buy and eat their products. For example, she doesn't get why I can't eat the turkey for... -
ARCHIVED Boyfriend's Sister Is A Pastry Chef - Misinformed About Celiac?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wintersong - She has made pastries for people/cakes for weddings, but as far as I know she has never made anything for someone with celiac disease. That IS a scary thought. The weirdest thing is that my boyfriend's birthday was before I was diagnosed (literally - the day before) and she made his cake, so I tried a small piece. Hers was the last normal cake... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Tmj Problems...
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It is a relief knowing that I'm not the only one. I really thought it was a blockage between my ear/throat and I was so excited to go to the ENT to get it cleared up. When he told me he didn't find anything I was in shock. Oddly enough he was the one who originally told me I had TMJ. yet he never suggested that it could be the reason for it. There has to... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Tmj Problems...

Does anyone have difficulty with chewing/swallowing sometimes - so much so that you feel like you are going to choke? Sometimes eating was a chore for me to the point where I would have to chew for a long time...just to feel like the food was small enough to be swallowed without choking. I first noticed this a few years ago after I was diagnosed with... -

mommida - Given all of the health benefits of avocado, it is definitely worth trying again. Slicing it up like that sounds pretty good! I can't relly have hot sauce though - I think it would be a trigger for my rosacea..but maybe some mild salsa/sour cream instead? LauraTx - I know, I was bummed. I really like the Quaker rice cakes but yeah, they started... -
ARCHIVED Low Sugar Diet For Candida Management
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks for the tips! I eat veggies/rice for breakfast sometimes myself. Is rice okay to eat? I have googled the candida diet before, but it was overwhelming and half of the sites said not to bother because it "doesn't work". I wanted to get firsthand accounts from people actually dealing with celiac disease and the fungal issues. I don't like red meat... -

I think you're right about the honey. It's not something I use often anyway - but it does work great in tea (especially when you're sick) As for the avocados...sigh. My boyfriend is trying to get me to eat them more. I have heard that they're really good for you. I'll try to give them more of a chance. My friend recently made a dip that she brought to... -
ARCHIVED Low Sugar Diet For Candida Management

Does anyone else have a candida issue? On top of the candida issue, I was just diagnosed with tinea versicolor that spread from my neck down to my stomach area. I can't catch a break, here! My doctor put me on 3 weeks of Diflucan to get rid of the rash/control my candida, but I want a more permanent/natural solution...so I want to really cut back on my sugars... -
ARCHIVED Ideas For Healthy Gluten Free Snacks?

Mm...I DO like honey, but usually I only use it in my tea or oatmeal. I think if I were going to put it on rice cakes I would end up slopping too much on and it'd taste gross. Whenever I ate rice cakes I used to always put peanut butter and jelly on them, or nutella - mm! Nutella is definitely too much sugar, though - and I am apparently allergic to hazelnuts... -
ARCHIVED Sudden Peanut Allergy/oral Allergy Syndrome?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Wow! Hmm...I haven't really noticed any improvements since giving up peanut butter, but again I am also lactose intolerant so it seems my stomach is upset a lot of the time. That is pretty interesting. I do eat sunflower seeds, so I think I'm going to give sun nut butter a shot. I do eat grilled chicken sometimes too. As for your persistent GI symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free/decaf Hot Chocolate?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you! I really wasn't sure about how much caffeine was in hot chocolate...yeah, the caffeine in chocolate candies doesn't bother me, so you're probably right that it wouldn't make me sick. I just like to ask because I'm new to the gluten-free diet and it's really nice to get feedback from people who are also dealing with this firsthand. As for the... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free/decaf Hot Chocolate?
Waitingindreams posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does it exist? I gave up caffeine a few years ago to try to help my rosacea clear up. Now whenever I have caffeine (except for chocolate) I get really sick. Even my pumpkin tea that I love makes me really sick :\ So if I ever drink tea, it has to be decaf. I'm done with coffee. Now that the winter months are coming up, I want to be able to make hot chocolate... -
ARCHIVED Ideas For Healthy Gluten Free Snacks?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Definitely some good ideas! I do buy a lot of gluten free chips, but I wanted something healthier. Even the Apple chips have a lot of sugar. LauraTX - Popcorn might be the best bet so far. OOh, I forgot about those squeezable apple juice packets! And they don't need to be refrigerated, so that's a good idea. I do love rice cakes, but can you recommend... -
ARCHIVED Boyfriend's Sister Is A Pastry Chef - Misinformed About Celiac?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There hasn't been any drama between me and her, because i do just try to let it go. Like you said, as long as I'm not eating her food and getting sick it's not a big deal. My main concern is what they're teaching chefs at these schools. Was it just her school, just her class? Why is she so misinformed about it when she's going to be making food for other... -
ARCHIVED Ideas For Healthy Gluten Free Snacks?
Waitingindreams posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was just diagnosed with bronchitis, that was teetering on the edge of pneumonia. I was prescribed an antibiotic that I need to take four times a day - with food each time. It's easy enough to grab something at home, but what can I keep at my desk at work that is quick and easy to eat? Obviously I could grab little packets of M&Ms or something easy and... -
ARCHIVED Boyfriend's Sister Is A Pastry Chef - Misinformed About Celiac?
Waitingindreams replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I see your point - but the problem is she mainly argues this with my boyfriend when I'm not around. Only one time she told me that she didn't think wheat wraps would bother me, but she did say "I mean if it's going to make you sick, don't eat it..." and I just kind of held my tongue and nodded. I told her I'm not going to risk it, and she didn't really seem...
