  1. I actually loved the "I can't have vinegar" part. I know it doesn't contain gluten, but I can't have anything with yeast. (anti-candida) so no gluten free breads, no vinegar, etc. I interpreted it as her giving a small nod to the other food intolerances that often come with celiac disease due to leaky gut, but now that I went back and re-read it, I saw that...
  2. No, I wasn't - but what is weird is that rye tested at the highest, and of course I am not eating rye! Even if I didn't have celiac disease I wouldn't eat rye, blech! I never liked it. Yes, thank you! No more yeast for me. I think this is a (mostly) permanent fix - though once I am healed I can imagine having cheat days now and then where I go get regular...
  3. Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your support. Okay, so here are the results: Ready? *Drumroll* ..... Nothing. Yes, I didn't come up as 'sensitive' to any of the foods that were tested. I was actually tested for IGg food allergies (delayed response to food allergies) and although certain foods showed up higher than others (rye being the...
  4. I did, actually! I hadn't heard of it until I posted this forum and did some research on fat malasbsorption. When I did a google image search, the pictures that came up closely resembled what I was seeing in the toilet. I haven't seen it since. I showed my doctor the photos I took, but he couldn't tell from them, unfortunately. He told me to just keep an...
  5. I'm not a vegetarian, but the only meat I eat really is grilled chicken, so a lot of the time I had to eat vegetarian meals. Peanut butter doesn't bother you at all? You have an issue with soy, lentils, and beans - all legumes, I am surprised peanut butter doesn't bother you..but that's great! If peanut butter does present itself as an issue, almond butter...
  6. Hi everyone! As some of you know, I saw my naturopathic doctor last month (April 29) and I got the food sensitivity test done. I know, I know, they're not 100% accurate or scientifically proven - but I figured it was a good place to start. I appreciate people trying to warn me about it, but I already got the test done. I figured the best place to start would...
  7. That's really scary that you ended up in the hospital I think it's ridiculous that, in order to be accurately tested, people need to eat gluten for that long to be diagnosed. Hopefully they come up with something more efficient/safer. Thank you! I agree too, I was just a bit concerned after seeing all of the posts about biopsies.
  8. Thank you for the responses, everyone! I do feel like the blood test is enough...I have far too many intolerances and other health issues for this to just be NCGS. And I know gluten bothers me. Part of me wishes I did have one done, just to see how damaged my intestines actually were from the beginning - now I'll never really know how much healing I had...
  9. Thanks for your feedback, Gemini! You helped me too! I don't know why she is going to see a GI, I personally am going to start seeing one because, when I asked, my doctor refused to re-test my blood levels repeatedly. He basically laughed it off, like I was over-reacting. I would feel more comfortable seeing someone who specializes in celiac disease....
  10. I'm not really sure that it would! I'm pretty certain it's celiac disease regardless, I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything else. I think I might have a thyroid issue, I am getting tested for that tomorrow. I'd like to have everything checked out to make sure it's okay, but I was told you could do that with repeated blood work. That's certainly...
  11. I'll try to keep this brief - Back in July of 2013 when I was really feeling sick (allergies out of control, constant diarrhea, not absorbing any food (not to be graphic, but it would come out within 20 minutes or so looking exactly how it went in, if you get my drift) I went to my doctor (primary care physician) and he gave me a blood test for celiac disease...
  12. Avoiding soy is definitely tricky. I'm lactose intolerant, so although I knew I'd miss dairy, it was time I gave it a rest. I eat lactose free dairy sometimes and I have no issues. (At least none that I can tell) if soy is an offender, you might possibly be sensitive to other legumes as well..such as peanuts. Do you eat a lot of peanut butter,or hummus?...
  13. Do you possibly have issues with other foods? I was avoiding gluten and lactose, but every now and then I would still get stomach cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhea, etc. It didn't make sense! I started doing elimination diets and found I had an issue with yeast, and all legumes (soy, lentils, chickpeas - etc) maybe you are eating something else that is causing...
  14. Haha! Thanks for the comments, everyone! If it is a fat related issue, then since I'm not eating dairy, I would have to guess it's due to the sunflower seed butter I've been eating lately, or the coconut oil/coconut products. I've been eating a lot of coconut for months and never had an issue, so my guess would be the sunflower seed butter. Not sure if it...
  15. Thank you for your insight/advice! i am currently doing elimination diets myself - and, so far, have come to the conclusion that I have issues with yeast and all legumes. (Goodbye, my beloved hummus ) That was a slow realization - it started with being tested for allergies and finding out I had a "peanut allergy", to noticing that all beans (black beans...
  16. I recently got addicted to a brand of crackers called "Mary's gone crackers" - all of the varieties are gluten free, vegan and nut free (apart from coconut) and 2 of the varieties (Super Seed and Jalapeno) are soy free as well. I found them at my Stop & Shop! I snack on the 'Super Seed' a lot. It goes great with hummus. I also slice up some Lisanatti...
  17. I've never homemade my own bread (though I want to eventually) but I think I'd stick with paleo bread recipes. They have store bought paleo bread that's pretty good, not at all doughy but I like it! And of course there's no yeast. They use apple cider vinegar instead of regular vinegar, which is (apparently) fine to have if you have a yeast issue. I've read...
  18. I can't eat apples either But my reaction is different - when I eat an apple (even if it's washed thoroughly and peeled) my throat will close up. I can't eat any fresh fruits other than berries. However, if I cook the apples (or other fresh fruits, like pears) then I can eat them. There is some kind of protein that mimics pollen or something. I just avoid...
  19. Wi11ow - Thank you for your kind words! I can definitely understand why you feel it'd be hard to get involved someone presently. I always said that if i didn't meet my boyfriend when I did, I would have held off on dating until I had this completely under control. Almost a year later, and I still don't have all of this completely under control - it's definitely...
  20. Oh wow! See, according to a few articles I found, it stated that a yeast issue is pretty common in people with celiac disease and it often mimics the symptoms of being glutened...but it doesn't seem like too many people have a known issue with it. Ener-G apparently makes a yeast free bread, but i haven't seen it in stores...and I don't know if it has...
  21. nvsmom - Thank you for your feedback/well wishes! I actually didn't know that intestines don't feel pain. That is slightly reassuring. I've been gluten free for almost a year now, though I know I've made mistakes here and there, so I am changing to more of a "clean" diet (not paleo yet, but looks like I'm heading in that direction) Since I've been doing...
  22. GFLover - Thank you for telling me your story, and offering some insightful advice. I can't imagine being hit with something so devastating, especially not after feeling like you were finally getting better. I'm glad you have such a healthy, positive perspective on it though, and it's good that you keep up with it. I think I'm going to try to handle this...
  23. Yeah, I definitely see what you're saying. I think it's just that they kind of pick on me for my issues sometimes...and as a kid, when i started feeling sick up through adulthood they treated me like a hypochondriac. If they just listened to me back then...but that's not a healthy way of thinking, and I realize that. What's done is done. I've been reminiscing...
  24. Mamaw - Thank you! Yeah, I will definitely hang on to him - he is great, and I don't want to let go of him..I just don't want him to be stressed. I hate that my health and diet are affecting him this much, I am doing everything I can just to get healthy..and I am also doing everything I can to limit my stress levels. (Yoga, meditation, just relaxing whenever...
  25. He reads up on celiac in his own time, I've linked him to this forum multiple times as well but I'm not sure if he actually reads the posts on here or not. I sent him a link to the forum for loved ones of people with celiac yesterday morning after he was getting really worried about me eliminating foods. I'm trying to help him understand, I know it's a lot...
