  1. Thank you! I don't think there's anything I really need/want to test, since my diet is so strict (if there is gluten in my lettuce I give up!! - lol) but this will definitely be something I keep on the back burner for future reference.
  2. @jddh - Thank you for the information! I have been gluten free (apart from any 'accidents') for about 1.5 years now...but I never had an endoscopy from the beginning, so I have no idea where I started or where I sit now. I do think my villi are getting better, because I can tolerate dairy better than I was able to - (I'm lactose intolerant) so that's a good...
  3. Thank you for looking out for us I am on the world's strictest diet...a dairy free version of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I think I had the soup before I was on the diet, either that or I thought the broth would be harmless enough. I definitely learned my lesson! Even though it was gluten/soy/yeast free, something definitely bothered me in that broth...
  4. Those sound like they're pretty handy to have around. Where did you get them, and how much if you don't mind me asking?
  5. I really don't know what is going on with our water vs his water. We don't use any filters at our house, but I still don't get any rashes from the water. I feel like his house used to be well water, but they switched it over to city water before he bought it (not sure if that makes any difference at all) I also don't remember having these reactions anywhere...
  6. Wow! I would always get itchy skin in the ocean, but my parents always told me it was the salt. Then when we started going to lakes around our state, I had an allergic reaction the pond water (itchy rash) not sure if that is all connected, but it is interesting! What? Why were girls not allowed to wear pants? That is so strange..I remember my 5th grade...
  7. Thanks for the reply! I was considering getting the strips (because I really do think it's chlorine) but I wasn't sure if we should be looking out for something else instead/as well. That's a good idea to test the water at my house/his house to compare. I think I'll do that. I hope my bf is okay with getting filters...
  8. Thanks! I definitely need to stick to whole foods and no grains for awhile. This is very helpful.
  9. Hi all! Okay, so whenever I am at my boyfriend's house, I develop a red, patchy rash on my hands...and on my legs/arms when I shower. It does not burn or itch. It fades on its own, no medication/cremes needed, and it only appears at HIS house. I do not have this issue at my house. At first, I thought I was somehow getting wheat on my hands (to my...
  10. I originally tried the chicken broth because I figured it would make more sense for fighting off a cold/other illness...but I tried their vegetable broth because I read a post online that said they verified that it was legal on the SCD diet. So, I figured hey...might as well grab it, it's very rare that I can buy things that are legal on that diet. If you...
  11. That's very strange. Well, it made me react but not as severely as I would have to a glutening. Very interesting. I had the same response as you, in the fact that the first time I had it there was no reaction. Maybe if we email them they will disclose any other ingredients. I did seem to have better luck with their vegetable broth, if that helps.
  12. Define 'react', what were your symptoms? I drank it semi-recently (a couple of weeks ago) when my boyfriend was sick. I made him soup with it, then bought the individual 4 pack so that I could just heat up broth in one of those cup/bowls for me to drink. (I didn't want to get sick - I figured broth might help) The first time I had it, no reaction. The...
  13. I miss oatmeal. I miss a lot of foods...lol. But the end results will be worth it. I keep telling myself I can't go back to those eating habits. Once a week will be enough to cure my cravings...I think/hope. I can't wait until I am fully healed and i can have my cheat days Anyway, here is the link to the official site for the SCD diet. It has tons of...
  14. Face Naturals makes 3 varieties of "tooth cleansers" that are completely free of soy, corn, gluten, etc. They're stuff is a bit pricier, but it's all natural and all organic, and their stuff lasts about a year. They also have a reward system, every time you order something you earn points that don't expire. It adds up, and you can use the points for money...
  15. bartfull - That's really great news. I know, right? Imagine getting down the intolerances to just gluten, as it should be! I feel the same way. Like you, I think I'd still always be careful about the soy. I think it would be a rare treat...for example, I really liked Margaritaville's nachos when I went there this past summer. I do know their chips are cooked...
  16. This reminds me of the "Super buddy icon" I used to have back in the day when AIM was more popular. Super buddy icons moved/talked and reacted when you said certain words. Mine was of an Earth and a cute little moon that flew around the earth. They smiled at each other and bounced around. If I typed "smells" the earth would take a big whiff of the moon...
  17. You're welcome! It's really difficult, I know. I try not to push this diet on people, but I have never felt better since being on it. I am finally seeing results that I didn't see on just the gluten free diet alone. I read in an article that the SCD diet used to be the official diet for celiac disease, and then it became just the gluten free diet. I...
  18. Really? That's fantastic! I am iffy about soy. I know i can't tolerate it, and I officially came up with a slight allergy to it when I got my tests done back before I was diagnosed, so I avoid it strictly...but I have read that soy can also cause villous atrophy, like gluten. I never had a biopsy done, so I am not really sure if I will ever be able to add...
  19. Hey, that sounds pretty good too! But you're welcome! I'm glad I gave someone else a good idea I found the recipe and had to try it, although I didn't follow the recipe, I kind of just did my own thing. Here is the "official" recipe: Open Original Shared Link She used pepperoni with hers, and I can't tell what bread she used, but it could possibly...
  20. Is the mix you used soy free as well? And how did you shape them? Lol! I am so new to this... If they are soy free, I will definitely have to try them once I can go back to a more standard gluten-free diet
  21. No problem! I hope it helps I am soy, lactose, and gluten free as well...and due to being on the SCD diet, I am now corn free too. I'm not sure if you have a histamine intolerance, but for me it's been pretty simple. I went 3 months or so eating foods that were a level 0 or 1..and then slowly started introducing level 2 foods (egg whites are a level...
  22. Since I am on a very strict diet right now, I couldn't eat the gluten free bread I kept in my boyfriend's freezer. It really wasn't that good to begin with, and I felt bad taking up room in his freezer with something I can't eat for an indefinite period of time. So, I decided to make him grilled cheese "pizza" The bread I used was Schar brand yeast free...
  23. Thanks! I will definitely look into it I'm on a strict version of the SCD diet. No grains, no soy, no additives really, lol! So coconut and almond flour were the best bet. I think all gums are illegal as well. So I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I have to make a lot of food from scratch. I eat a lot of salad with my own blend of salad dressing...
  24. Hmm...well that's good to know! I really wasn't sure. The "batter" for the waffles came out more like cookie dough, lol. We don't have a cast iron skillet either, should we pick up that or a bread loaf pan? Which do you think would be better for baking bread? He doesn't cook AT ALL, so he really only has the basics. His mom stocked his kitchen, but she gave...
  25. Thank you! That is pretty simple. I have never made bread before, but once I am ready to try it I will use your recipe! We already have all of the ingredients, except for the chia and/or flax seeds. We also don't have a loaf pan or blender yet - but we will eventually!
