  1. I know this thread is a few months old now, but could it be the soy in the m&ms? I noticed that my bloating, diarrhea, cramping and other GI issues went down significantly when I discovered that a lot of the gluten free food I was eating (Sabra hummus, Progresso lentil soup, Wishbone italian dressing, Minute rice, etc) had soy in it. M&Ms were my...
  2. I happened to get pretty lucky in that area. I was diagnosed just over 2 weeks after I started dating my boyfriend. He didn't really know much about it at all, but he was very supportive. He found apps to download on his phone, and he started looking into gluten free restaurants for us to go to. He's very careful about cross contamination, but it can still...
  3. I started having issues with my scalp, forehead, and the back of my neck a few years ago. At first I thought it was just dandruff, until it spread to my forehead. I soon got diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis. I have tried MANY different methods/"cures", and what not - and nothing has worked. When I was diagnosed with celiac disease a few years later, I...
  4. Oh wow, haha. Those were amusing. I think a lot of people think corn is a vegetable...probably because it's included in a lot of 'mixed veggies' packages? Oh, and how's this...about two months after I was diagnosed, my friend gave me a Panera Bread gift card, LOL!
  5. I'm not sure if anything would surprise me at this point, after seeing gluten/wheat in so many products...but when I was first getting used to reading labels... - Twizzlers. My sister bought me a pack because I used to be addicted to them. I checked the label just to be sure, but I didn't actually expect to see anything - sure enough, wheat flour! ...
  6. Thanks everyone! This is why I try to come on here and ask people their personal experience/input. It's hard to decipher what's true and what isn't. At first the idea of bone broth sounded disgusting (I'm not a big meat eater - I only eat boneless grilled chicken) but now it sounds pretty good! I'll definitely look into it. And that looks like a nice crockpot...
  7. Thanks! That does seem like a fairly easy recipe. I do plan on cooking more and trying out new recipes, so maybe once I have a pressure cooker I will look into this. Thanks again!
  8. Thank you Kareng! I'll look into it. Gottaski, oops! Sorry for the confusion. I might have mixed up what you said in your response with some of the information I've been reading online about it. There are a lot of claims that it can heal an ailing gut - mostly talking about candida or leaky gut rather than celiac disease. I'm pretty sure my digestive...
  9. Hi everyone! I've been so frustrated with my ongoing digestive problems, that I started to really consider drinking/eating bone broth, as I've heard it is really great for the digestive tract. I found a company that makes their own brand, that you can order online and I'm really interested in trying it. They go into detail about the process/ingredients and...
  10. Thank you for your input! I really wanted to get the levels re-done, but my primary care doctor refused, and I didn't have a GI - and my job had limited sick time hours, so I had to be careful about how much time i asked for off. It was unfortunate (but not at all surprising, of course) that I found no GI doctors in my area with hours after 5/weekend appointments...
  11. I wanted to get my levels re-tested at 6 months or a year, but my doctor told me I didn't need to. (I still do not have a GI yet, that was my primary care physician) I plan on finding one soon, it was just difficult with my work schedule. The gluten free I don't have an issue with - it's everything else! Right now, the candidiasis is my biggest problem...
  12. I have been gluten free (give or take a few mistakes) ever since this test, but I had never seen the results before for myself. When looking at the numbers, I really have no idea what I'm actually looking at. I was not given any follow up tests, no biopsy or anything else. 4 days after I got the bloodwork done my doctor called me to tell me I had celiac disease...
  13. Hi everyone! I got tested back in July of 2013, and I finally remembered to request a copy for my records at home. I was wondering if anyone could explain the results to me so that I could understand what I'm actually looking at. Any help would be much appreciated! (not sure how to insert an image in here, so hopefully if you copy/paste this link it will...
  14. Yeah, I agree with you there. That doesn't sound like something that would be efficient in healing any ailments. Maybe by "homeopathic remedy" he just meant it was a natural solution? Usually I do research everything I take from them (enzymes, Concentrace trace minerals, etc) But this time he literally gave it to me in a little dixie cup to see if it would...
  15. I didn't mean that just to you, I was just talking from my own experience. I have seen a lot of people against natural medicine. I don't know all that much about homeopathy in general...I just know that the mixture he gave me worked, thankfully. I still think it was a very strange reaction though, even if it was due to a coconut intolerance. I don't know...
  16. Omg! Almost the same thing happened to me at work a few months ago. I ordered a sandwich for lunch on a gluten free roll. Coworker: (Confused) "I thought you couldn't have gluten?" Me: I can't..this is a gluten free roll. (Derp ) He was surprised at how much it looked like a "regular" roll. I'm pretty sure it was Udi's, but I'm not positive...
  17. I see an MD, along with a naturopath. (separate practices) I started seeing the naturopath earlier this year at the recommendation of a close friend, who has been seeing him for years. Since seeing him, I have improved tremendously...I've discovered more food intolerances and I feel a lot healthier in general. For example, I had some GERD issues..my primary...
  18. I ate M&Ms a lot when I was first diagnosed But then I realized I can't have soy, and although they are gluten free...they are not soy free. Sigh.
  19. Before I was diagnosed and only heard about celiac disease here and there, I too thought that gluten was only in bakery products. Boy, was I wrong....
  20. Hm...I mean, I admit I did eat the coconut oil every day to help with fighting the candida, but I didn't eat anything else with coconut every day! I can completely see how eating a lot of a certain kind of food could make you develop an intolerance (I've read enough about it, ugh!) but even so, isn't that a strange reaction? I had no GI symptoms, not the...
  21. I thought all grains contained something referred to as "gluten", just not the kind of gluten that someone with celiac disease reacts to. Apparently gluten is found in all cereal grains, but only the gluten in wheat, rye, etc makes us sick...so grains like rice, buckwheat, etc are listed as gluten free, since they are safe for us to consume. It seems that...
  22. Hmm! That is definitely an idea. To my knowledge, no I am not allergic to sulfites. I did some quick searching and I saw the list of foods that contain/may contain sulfites and I don't react to any of them. For example, I've never had a problem with cooked potatoes (in any form, fries, mashed potatoes, etc) - but if I peel raw potatoes, my hands will get...
  23. Okay so...about a month or so ago, I was on a very strict candida regimen. I avoided sugar, dairy, yeast, fruit, etc...and I was taking digestive enzymes, a probiotic, and antifungal pills. I dealt with the normal die off symptoms (pain in left side, fatigue, nausea, etc etc) but I also noticed that my food allergies were getting worse...foods that I didn...
  24. I'm on a very strict candida diet, so what I can eat is very limited. I've been eating grilled vegetables and chicken seasoned with olive oil/salt and pepper, and that keeps me satisfied. Usually I've just been cutting up the vegetables and wrapping them in makeshift foil packets to be grilled, but today I was talking with a woman at work who told me about...
  25. Haha! Well, I am not seeing "it" anymore, fortunately. I really do think it was related to the sunflower butter somehow. And the worst part is that I only saw it when I went to the bathroom at work. I definitely wouldn't be able to scoop my poop there! Uuughh! It could also just be related to the candida? I am currently trying to kill it (it being the...
