  1. Haha! Yes, Kareng the hummus is filled with yummyness. The individual packs are great - I use them when I want to spread hummus on my wraps or just to dip chips in - and I know my calories are being controlled. Nikki, you should look into the individual containers of it...only 100 calories each, it will definitely keep your snacking at bay! it is really good...
  2. ^I do the same, I buy Sabra hummus (classic) it says gluten free on the label and I haven't had any issues with it.
  3. Thank you! That sounds great. I actually do have a can of coconut oil at home, I keep forgetting to put it in the fridge! Some questions...do I use the entire can, or half a can, etc? And I think I will omit the honey, too much sugar even though it is natural. Could I add blueberries in too? Would it be better to add frozen berries, or fresh?
  4. Hmm, I hope there isn't mold in the house! Agh! I didn't even think about that. I've tried tea tree oil before - I never saw too much of a difference! I need specifics..what brand? How much? Did you dilute it with water, and if so how diluted? Etc. I tried Paul Mitchell's tea tree oil shampoo/conditioner at the recommendation of a hair stylist for my...
  5. Okay so, where do I begin. On Tuesday, April 29, I went to see my naturopathic doctor for the first time. We talked about skin issues and food sensitivities, and he mentioned that a patient of his had rosacea and was tested for food sensitivities. After being tested positive for yeast/wheat sensitivities and giving both up..his rosacea cleared up. I didn...
  6. Thank you, that is something to consider! Vinegar definitely does bother me. I haven't noticed an issue with mushrooms or nuts, but I'll keep an eye out. It's hard to say about the cheese/yogurt because I'm lactose intolerant and they bother me regardless :\ I never drank much alcohol, but my rosacea does flush whenever I do have a drink or two. Here...
  7. Trust me I'm confused about it myself. I do have candiadasis, and i've had it for years. I've tried different topical creams as well as Diflucan to get rid of it. It's improved significantly since I gave up gluten, but it's still there. I have a rash on my chest. No actual yeast infections 'down there', just the rash on my chest. I've also cut back significantly...
  8. Well I already took the test..there's nothing I can do now. I didn't see your warning post(s) (or anyone else's) until after I took it. Either way, I am feeling better since eliminating the yeast (not completely better, as it's only been one day...but I didn't feel sick to my stomach all day like I did the past few days) This question was mainly about...
  9. I just saw my naturopathic doctor this past Tuesday (April 29, 2014) and he mentioned to me how a patient's rosacea cleared up after he tested positive for sensitivities to wheat and yeast, and gave them up. I thought it was interesting - but I didn't, at first, give it too much thought. My rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, and candida have all been huge indications...
  10. Hi everyone, I just wanted to share a few great companies I've found recently that I'm really excited about. They all sell organic, gluten free, cruelty free, and vegan products. They all have sites you can order from online...and I've found some products in stores as well. I'm hoping this information can help someone else as much as it's helped me...
  11. daydreamer: It really is a relief to find someone else that has been through a similar situation. And your comment has just confirmed for me that I made the right choice in not taking the medicine (though I was very close) With all of my skin issues and fatigue issues, I asked my doctor to do some bloodwork and it was found that I had an iron and folate...
  12. imahurtinunit: Wow, that is really scary. Have you been tested for celiac disease? I would recommend getting tested, and I would get bloodwork done as well to see if you are deficient in any vitamins/minerals or if you have another issue, like an overactive thyroid, possibly. I hope you start researching and looking into other causes for your ailments, don...
  13. MickeyMudge - It seems as though you are no longer active on the forum, but in case you do come back to see this - I appreciate all of your input! That's really scary to have a dairy, wheat, AND yeast allergy. I would suggest trying a paleo diet - it is no grain, and no dairy. They sell paleo breads that are made from coconut/almond flours, though you'll...
  14. Have you thought of trying paleo bread? It is grain free..it typically contains almond and/or coconut flour. You might be able to find some in the freezer section of one of the health stores near you! It's pricey at about $10.00 a loaf, but personally I like it a lot and if you're used to not eating bread, you can probably make it last awhile. Some gluten...
  15. I have been lactose intolerant since about 2010. Since giving up gluten in July of 2013, I have not seen any improvements in my sensitivity to lactose. I decided to blog my progress/results that I hope to see from giving up most dairy/all lactose. The only dairy I will eat is the casein found in my almond/rice cheese substitutes. That's it! No more chocolate...
  16. Nope! Haha. I've had pretty bad allergies all of my life (severe pollen allergies, etc) I never carried an epi pen or had an inhaler or anything, I just took my Allegra and that was just fine. Then last year they were absolutely terrible - my Allegra stopped being effective at all. So, I figured it was finally time to see an allergist. He did the prick test...
  17. Thanks for the warning. That's really scary...
  18. Wow, thanks for the responses everyone! I agree that it's just not worth it to risk it. I chose the plain chocolate bar, thinking it'd be the least risky out of all of the flavors - but when I saw 'may contain gluten' it made me wary. I think it's interesting that the tiramisu flavor only said 'may contain traces of peanuts or tree nuts', but it worked out...
  19. Thank you so much! This helps. Yeah, you're right. I'm still getting used to it myself. It's a huge adjustment. That's great that NYC is so gluten free friendly! I wasn't sure. I went to Maine back in September and they were great! I'm glad I have some specific options to look into. I figure if it's such a big deal, I can go to one of the restaurants myself...
  20. Well, that sounds promising. I did ask him, but I haven't heard back yet. I try very hard to not "play the victim" or demand extra attention for this, so it's just disheartening that some of my friends can't meet me halfway. I told them I don't care where they go for dessert, I don't need to go to a gluten free bakery or something, I just want to make sure...
  21. That's what I figured! For the longest time I was trying to find cashews, and every time I found a bag/container of plain cashews they ALL said "May contain traces of wheat".So I just didn't eat cashews. I'd much rather be safe than sorry. For the most part, I'm going to stick to trusted brands that actually have "gluten free" printed on the label! Thanks...
  22. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! It's unfortunate that I can't do my own thing here - or that I wasn't going with just one friend or my boyfriend. I am going with 4 other girls and we're meeting up with a guy friend that lives there. He has certain places that he wants to show us/have us eat at - and despite the fact that i researched nearby gluten...
  23. I just switched chocolate bars with a co-worker. Hers was "Tiramisu" flavored, and there is no mention of gluten anywhere on the label (same brand)
  24. Hi everyone! Generally, when reading a food label that says "may contain traces of wheat and/or gluten", I tend to avoid it. I stick to products that specifically say 'gluten free' on the label, or that I can research easily. I just received chocolate/flowers at work from my office, and though there are no actual gluten containing ingredients in the...
