  1. Best wishes to Lyle for a speedy recovery
  2. Ken, what a wonderful thought Thank you for all you do here, too! The board wouldn't be the same without you--and congrats on your 1000th post!
  3. Deb--I'm so sorry your sister in law is still acting dismissive of your husband's disease. I feel so badly for him. It's incredibly hurtful when it's a family member who treats you this way. I also want to say that I'm sorry about your mother in law. You and your husband are in my thoughts. Good Lord Gemini, I could have written this...
  4. And....note to self--do not drink coffee after say, noon! I was awake last night until after 2AM, awake again at 4:10 and then was able to actually sleep till 8. <yawn>
  5. I use half and half in my tea (and coffee now, too ), but no sugar. I always used to use sugar, but as for how to quit it, I just one day stopped using it. I went cold turkey on the sugar and flour. Makes for a dicey few days, but I'm not kidding, at the end of the first week the cravings go away. I didn't think it was possible either The kicker...
  6. That is SO me!! I miss BBQ sauce, too. I get my pasta fix by using spaghetti squash. Also, I do a low carb pizza using shredded zucchini as the "crust"--it's really good (Mark loves it) I've been wanting to try making zucchini "spaghetti" using long ribbon thin slices. I'm sure that would work for a mock lasagna.
  7. I can't eat beans/legumes--they make me really sick. I do eat nuts (walnuts and almonds) for snacks. I don't do peas (legume) or corn (grain) but I do eat carrots maybe once a week or so. Those are about as starchy as I get, though.
  8. I had a very hard time getting well after going gluten-free. I had several other food intolerances that kept me sick--actually at times sicker than I had been before starting the diet. I was very careful about gluten, didn't eat out at a restaurant for close to 4 years. What helped me was keeping a simple food log. I discovered I was sensitive to foods...
  9. OMG Leesua--this is SO true!! Since I'm off the sugar and grains, my clothes are getting loose......I found that after the first week or so it got easier and my cravings went away. The first week was hard though--I had headaches and didn't sleep well. Love fresh brussels sprouts with butter and crumbled crispy bacon (done in microwave to catch all...

  11. Hee!! PeOter's olive martini Yep, coffee--I'm literally bouncing off the walls How the heck much caffeine is IN this stuff???
  12. Hee! A Metta special! Catholic Shampoo While shopping in a food store, two nuns happened to pass by the beer. The first nun said it would be nice to enjoy a beer. The second nun answered that, indeed, it would be very nice to have one, but that she wouldn't feel comfortable about buying it. The first nun replied that she could handle that without...
  13. And.....you guys wanna know what I had today that I haven't had in years and years??? Coffee!!!!!! Back when I was sick, I could not tolerate it so I simply stopped trying. I went to tea and all was good. Today, I thought--the heck with it, I'm having myself a cup of coffee! Say-la-vee!! So far, so good--I'm wired beyond belief, but...
  14. Happily, after 5 years dairy free I can tolerate it again But, I used to use Spectrum Shortening and light olive oil for baking. If I wanted a buttery flavor, I used Smart Balance, although that has a tiny amount of whey that I could get away with. Earth Balance has a few dairy free choices, too. The sticks are like shortening, and they have a dairy...

  22. Gawd Em, I don't remember......I think one of us came up with the hairbrained idea and Mark was more than happy to comply Come to think of it--not one person in our little group thought it was odd to take a pic of just our boobs I still have it, too--not sure if it's on this computer or the other one. I'll go see if I can find it. For the newbies

  24. Hi all--happy Monday Sooze, I'm so happy that it's getting cooler out there and that you were able to get off the Lexapro! I definately sensed (isn't it amazing how well we get to "know" each other over the years.....even communicating this way) that there was something that was not right. Can't help ya wif the 4 months next year, though.....you'd...
