  1. Sweetfudge--Recently we went to visit family--about 4.5 hours away. I just told everyone that they didn't have to worry about feeding me, I'd just bring my own food. I froze some dinners (cooked a lot the week before and had lots left to make meals out of), brought a big container of my homemade grain-free cookies, and some snacks, fruit, etc. I did fine...
  2. Still praying and keeping positive thoughts
  3. Cissie--You poor thing! Take it easy the rest of the day--we'll see you tomorrow
  4. Yea, I'm another who can only eat a few cherries at a time. Too much fruit of any kind will start the rumbling!
  5. Donna, Thanks so much--this is wonderful information on histamines. I'm going to your link to read more. This makes so much sense to me--why I always felt better on Claritan, and those foods you listed--I just naturally have stopped eating them because I don't like how they make me feel. I'm gonna nail this thing yet! Andrea, I so love the new picture...
  6. Spinach! I tried to eat it because of my anemia. I never felt good after, so I've stayed away from it. Never knew why....I learn something new every day here Have fun tonight playing softball, Rachel. Just remember, keep your eye on the ball, and wait for the ball to come to you before you swing!
  7. Kind of like an "R" rated chocolate chip mint?
  8. Hi Rinne--Love your picture! Very lovely We have something in common--My baby sister is 8 years younger than I am. I always took care of her when we were kids, I took her everywhere with me! We have always been very close. I have another sister who is 4 years younger. We also fought a lot when we were kids, and only now, in the last 2 years or...
  9. Hi Carissa--welcome to the board A couple of things, unless the doctor ordered the complete Celiac Blood Panel (which consists of 5 tests), the blood and stool testing that they did will tell you nothing about Celiac. You need the specific Celiac Panel. If your Aunt had Celiac, it would not have been discovered through a colonoscopy. She would...
  10. I was just sitting back, reading how you all are "coming out of the smoking closet". I just realized, after reading Elonwy's post that the most "healthy" time of my life was when I smoked! From age 16 to 24, I don't recall any stomach or food issues. As a child, I did, and after I had my 2nd child it became a real problem. Coincidence? Maybe--I've read...
  11. Hi Nikki--welcome to the board! You've come to the right place! There are many moms and dads here who have lots of experience with Celiac and the gluten-free diet. Be happy that you found out at an early age that your little girl has this. By going on the gluten-free diet now, she will avoid a lot of the complications that can happen with a delayed...
  12. Hi Cheri I love the Spectrum Shortening, too!
  13. Hi Lynda--I don't know about the Mexican Coke, but I drink (once in a while) Boylan Cane Cola. I get it at Whole Foods. It's a milder cola, sweetened with sugar. It is also marked "gluten free" right on the package!
  14. If you do that, I'll be the first in line.
  15. I called the company, as I take these vitamins--they are certified to be gluten-free. Not all Centrum products are, but the Advanced definately are gluten-free. The do contain milk ingredients, though.
  16. Hope that his time, the fever breaks for good. She's smiling! What great news Hey Judy--You guys should have come over--just think, TWO Celiacs in one house! We probably would have driven our husbands completely over the edge
  17. Carrie--yes! If you haven't called about tapering off the dosage of the steriod, definately do so. Also, a regular doctor (like a GP) can prescribe an epi-pen. My husband's GP refills his Rx every year at his check up. Hope you are ok today--check in later if you have a chance, and let us know
  18. Nantzie--I think I get what you describe when I eat something I'm intolerant to (not just gluten). The other day, I had a reaction from cornstarch. I had D for the rest of the afternoon, and now I have a tender spot on my lip--upper lip where it meets the skin on the left side. If I press it, it hurts, but there is nothing on the surface at all. They...
  19. Wow everybody--I think after reading this thread that there may be more smokers in Rachelville than non smokers! No one will be kicked out of R'ville for smoking--the Vice Pres. has spoken! I smoked for 8 years, up until I got pregnant with my first child. I was SO nauseous that I literally couldn't smoke (or eat, for that matter). I just never started...
  20. (Shuddering ) I wouldn't even want to think about that!
  21. Hi Lisa, Judy and Vincent Thanks for the update! I have been off line for a while and was wondering about Megan. Hadn't heard anything since this morning. You guys are really something
  22. If I'm boiling something, I use tap water. For everything else, for instance mixing up my Vance's, I use the spring water. I never use the filtered water from the fridge anymore. That kept me low-level-sick for months, I can see now. I am better today, thanks. I can't believe a cucumber made you so sick--and for this long. I'm at a loss there. ...
  23. I can't use it because I'm very intolerant to coconut, but the last time I was at my local health food store, I saw Spectrum Coconut Oil for topical use. It came in a small tub.
  24. Gee, I'm sorry that you all are reacting badly to spring water. I was just the opposite! Since I started drinking it exclusively, I've been better. Is the Arrowhead water a spring water or a filtered water? I know that some bottled waters are filtered tap water--I trust the source of Poland Spring, so I stick with that. I guess we all have different...
