  1. In my best Homer Simpson voice: Bananas, is there anything they can't do? Another thing I have found for anyone who makes homemade ice cream with Vance's (or probably any other non fat milk sub)--blend whatever recipe you're using in the blender with a banana or two first, before freezing. Makes the fininshed frozen product softer! And yummy
  2. Oh no, Celia--sorry you're not well today Take care of yourself, rest and just read along if you feel up to it. I'm sending "feel better" vibes down to you--and since we're twins, they will be extra strong!
  3. Hi Becky Ener-G Foods makes an egg substitute. Whole Foods carries it, as well as a lot of health food stores.
  4. B--this could be no help at all, but I just saw that the probiotics made you feel worse. Several months ago, I tried Culterelle (probiotic) on the advice of a friend. 5 days into taking it, I felt awful--just like you I couldn't eat anything without feeling nauseous. I had to run out of a store during this time, as I thought I was going to throw up! I...
  5. Bev--this is SO unfair I wish I had more to offer, but you've already gotten good advice here--I hope that this crapola passes quickly--you deserve a break!!
  6. Celia--this is what I think, too! I'm so proud and happy to be part of our little community
  7. All I would need is an internet connection and spring water--I'd be set This place is really beginning to take shape!
  8. Andrea--your Mitch is a hoot! I think he'd get along great with my husband. Actually sounds like something Mark would have said So your husband drives a semi? My older son drives for a national trucking company (not a semi, though) My husband works for the same company--but in the office here in South Jersey.
  9. Celia--There were a lot of small cracks and holes from taking down pictures and stuff to fill. It's a pretty big room with a bath room and they both have cathedral ceilings. Since we're painting everything from the ceilings down, my husband wants to go thru and make the walls perfect before we paint. He's doing this part all by himself--I'm not in the...
  10. That's ok--you can just start again tomorrow My sexy mask is driving me crazy
  11. Yes, Thank you, Donna--gauchos. I was trying to think of the word to tell Andrea. I bought a pair of wide-legged capri pants this summer--I don't know why they weren't just called gauchos because that's what they look like! Very comfortable. My summer 'uniform' is a t-shirt or sleeveless top, capri pants and Birkenstocks. That's how I'm the most comfortable...
  12. Cissie--Your JLL story was so funny! I would love to hear the other one if you ever get the chance to post it.
  13. Hi Scott-- The skin tests you had were for true allergies. What you are describing with the corn is an intolerance. I have the same situation in that I have Celiac Disease--but I am not allergic to any foods I've been skin tested for, including wheat. However, I am intollerant to a number of foods causing GI upset and other symptoms. It is not uncommon...
  14. My husband and I love to take day/weekend trips to Lancaser, Pa. It is such beautiful country, and a lot of Mennonites and Amish people live there. Their farms are so picturesque--it looks like a painting! There is a shop there in Kitchen Kettle Village where the Mennonite women make and sell homemade jams, jellys, baked goods etc--they are so good. I...
  15. Hi Carrie Gosh, that sounds so scary. I would definately suggest you get a prescription for an eppi-pen. Actually 2--one for home and one for work. My husband is deathly allergic to bee stings, and that's what he does. The type of reaction you got is very much like what happened to him. I'm so sorry you had to go thru that. Have you had a full allergy...
  16. Celia--That was cute!! Andrea--I love your new picture--what beautiful kids! I have a ton of weeding I should do, but I have gotten so sensitive to the heat and the sun. A few minutes out there when it's this hot, and I feel faint and nauseous. I wasn't like this when I was young, but like -I think it was Rachel (?) -I've gotten a lot more sensitive...
  17. You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but I happen to think this medicine has a very good chance of helping Rachel. I spoke to my board certified allergist/immunologist about it, and he told me that it could very well help with the issues of additional food intolerance. He also said that it was unlikely that it would be harmful used for this purpose...
  18. I forgot about Welshire Farms! That bacon is really good--the only place I ever found it here was Whole Foods, but if you can find it--yum!
  19. Hi and welcome to the board I'm glad you found us--keep reading, you will find a wealth of information and a great bunch of caring people who will be happy to answer any questions you have.
  20. Rinne--I have to agree with you that this thread (in it's own charming way) is just full of valuable information. Wouldn't it be something to compile all of the thoughts here and add to that our individual stories!
  21. Probably just getting tired! OMG Celia--we typed the same messages at the same time! Spooky yet again
  22. Betty, I'm so sorry you are still in pain I do hope things improve for you soon!
  23. Naw Rachel--It's because you're so sweet
  24. I was going to say computers, but we wouldn't need them any more!
