  1. Celia--you must be over the moon!! Will they be living close by in Florida? I hope someday to have grandchildren--my sons don't seem to be in any sort of hurry, though
  2. Interesting you should say scratching your back. My husband (trying to be nice) will come up behind me in the kitchen or something and rub my shoulders/scratch my back. These are things he loves, but I can't stand it--it hurts, and I just figured I'm just more sensitive.
  3. Call the dude today! We don't want anything to happen to you
  4. Hi Lollie--nice to see you! I found this information on Fibromyalgia--I didn't really know much about it, although my sister in law has it. Open Original Shared Link I found this interesting--hope it helps!
  5. Oh my God that is so funny! I forgot about the square wheels! I'm having a laughing jag right now!!! Evie--SO GOOD TO HEAR!!! Thank goodness
  6. Ah--The Island of Misfit Toys! I love that show--I've watched it almost every Christmas season since I was a child! Don't forget that at the end, the toys get all fixed up, like new and are then delivered to the girls and boys. So, it is like us--we're all going to get well and get on with our lives!! But still be friends Celia--my twin is not a...
  7. No problem, Lisa! We've been following your story and know how frustrated you are and how long you have gone trying to find out what's wrong. Feel better
  8. Ditto what Chelsea said. We support each other here, not ridicule. Celiac Disease also causes the gut to be "leaky"--that is to say it allows particles of undigested food through that the immune system treats as an invader. That's the reason a lot of us have additional food intolerance/delayed food allergies.
  9. Andrea--Probably because some insurance plans are much better than others! The one we had up until last year would have covered all of my testing--I only would have been responsible for the office visits. I guess my opinion would have been different in that case! Leave it to me to get so ill and need this kind of testing after we had to go onto this other...
  10. Running shoes would be a great start! Hiking boots on a treadmill
  11. I did too! The 20 per cent that we had to pay (endo and colo, pathology and blood work) came to more than if I had just done the Enterolab. The problem is that I didn't know about Celiac, or any of this until after I was diagnosed! If I had it to do over, knowing what I do now, I would have gone for the Enterolab testing--in addition to it being cheaper...
  12. Take into consideration also the Autistic Community, some of which are gluten-free (I don't know how many people we're talking about there) and the fact that if a Celiac does the shopping for a family, that would affect the numbers, also.
  13. Ouch, Rusla! That sounds painful Hope you feel better soon--and drop by here more often
  14. Hi Lindsey and welcome to the board Your symptoms could point toward gluten intolerance. There are about 200 symptoms associated with Celiac Disease! What I would suggest you do is make an appt with your doctor--ask for the complete Celiac Blood Panel--a regular set of blood tests (CBC, Metabolic Panel) will not tell you anything about Celiac...
  15. Susan, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that your help with the girls will be so appreciated, and will go a long way to mend whatever bad feelings still exist. Take care--we'll be thinking about you! I'll say a prayer for the family and Grandma Rosie
  16. Fabulous news! Just wonderful--you both must be so pleased and relieved.
  17. No, the last time I checked, Mrs. Butterworth's was not gluten-free. They use barley, I believe. Do you happen to have a Wegman's grocery store nearby? Their own pancake syrup is gluten-free--and is marked as such on the label. Of course, pure maple syrup is gluten-free--and tasty.
  18. Hi Fuzzymonkey--welcome Since you are unable to be tested, and are willing to accept the positive response to the gluten-free diet, I would say you have your answer right here! If gluten is making you sick, and you feel better off of it--don't eat it. Simple Actually, a positive response to the diet is a valid diagnostic tool--there are doctors...
  19. Celia--Great news from your appt!!! Yea
  20. Sorry, but if you have Celiac, you can not eat barley. Wheat free does not mean gluten-free--it could still contain barley (as these do), rye or oats.
  21. I take Centrum Advanced--I checked, it's gluten-free. There are other Centrum formulas that do contain gluten, so beware of that.
  22. About 2 hours.
  23. Hi Evie--I'm saying a prayer that the news from the doctor will be good today for your husband. It is so difficult to wait for this kind of news. Yes, hopefully, this one will go the same as the others.
  24. Chelsea--Gotta hand it to ya for sticking with the challange! Everything will even back out when you're able to go off the gluten again Still getting used to your new name Celia--I'm probably too late to wish you luck at the doctor. I went out early this morning--had a few errends to run--and it's going to be so hot again later. I always get very...
