  1. Susan--this is sounding promising.... Cissie--We lived in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County for 7 years.
  2. Yes! We'll all get back to basics and become an example of healthy living Kind of like the Amish, except for electricity and cars and stuff.
  3. Rachel--Good point about the enzymes. Could you try stopping all suppliments (except your new med) and see what happens? You may be surprised. I have yet to find a digestive enzyme or a probiotic that don't make me sick. They're supposed to be helpful, but my system does not like them. Maybe yours dosen't either
  4. Donna--My parent's house to this day is completely off-white inside. Very little hanging on the walls, and neat as a pin! My homes have always resembled one of those little antique-gift shops you see in little towns in the country. Lots of color and things around me that mean something to us. Not messy or cluttered, but quite the opposite of the way I...
  5. Exactly what I was thinking. Now it's officially gone from a thread to a soap opera!
  6. Hi Ivy--I had anxiety and some depression before being diagnosed. I would say it took about 4-5 months before I saw any improvement with those. My energy levels are still not where they should be after a year. I personally think a lot depends on how long you were sick before going gluten-free. Keep at it, things will improve, really--it just takes time
  7. Has this or has it not been the most fun day ever on the board? This thread, especially, is like one big party where we can just drop in anytime!
  8. I remember your scrapbook room--it is beautiful!
  9. With ya all the way!!!
  10. Unfortunately, you probably hit the nail on the head
  11. That's a tough question. To really test out the grain/rice theory, you'd need something else to fall back on. I'm lucky in that I can eat potatoes--but that's the only starch I can eat. Can you eat acorn and butternut squash? I think I remember you said you don't like spaghetti squash. Truthfully, I see a difference pretty quickly whan I stop eating...
  12. I'm excited! My husband and I are taking our bedroom apart as we speak! We're going to re-paint, get new drapes, bedding, etc--do the whole bedroom and bathroom over!! We've had the same yellow and blue theme for about 10 years now--very nice, but I'm just over it I've been checking the computer every so often while going down the hall. Probably going...
  13. CONGRATULATIONS TO US ON OUR 2000 POSTS Rachel--What I notice with grains, and this includes rice, is that I can get away with them once in a while. The last time I tried to incorporate them in more or less regularly, it caught up with me. When I heard you ate the rice cereal, the first thing I thought was, yep--it was fine this time, even soothing...
  14. It would make sense that once our intestines heal (from being leaky) that we *should* be able to eat more freely--more of a "standard" gluten-free diet. That sounds pretty good to me right now
  15. I firmly believe, Rachel, that things always happen for a reason. There will come a day when you will be on the other side of this! If I didn't really believe that, I would have given up long ago. I'm so grateful to have all of you to go thru this with. That's what I do! Simpler that way.
  16. I thought so too! You're right about this--could explain why we all seem to have a difficult time healing and why I only do well on veggies and meat. It seems to me that there's a big piece of this puzzle still missing. I've never been a twin before, so it's all still kind of new Something sure is working to keep us sick--last year when...
  17. Wow! Your doctor might have actually seen a glutening from the inside. I wonder if GI's have ever thought of doing that? They could be going about studying this the wrong way.... I wouldn't be surprised if you were glutened by the quinoa--all grains make me feel that way.
  18. Hi Kim--The best hamburger rolls I tried were from Grandma Ferndons. They are fantastic, but the only drawback is their high shipping costs. Open Original Shared Link
  19. Wow--I left for a while and had almost 3 pages to read! Andrea--thanks for the filter info. I also googled a little bit and saw that about the coconut. Problem with that is, I get sick from coconut! So that could be the reason. I'm gonna stick with the Poland Spring--at least for a while. It's very easy to find here in NJ--I picked some up at CVS...
  20. Rachel-- From what I understand and from what Robb (on the "Introduction" thread) told me, people with autoimmune problems can be sensitive to legumes. Peanuts would be a legume as well as soybeans, green and wax beans, peas, chick peas, and all the rest of the regular beans. Beans can be hard to digest for anyone, but for us, the lectin component...
  21. Rachel--Do you think you could have a problem with legumes? Although, it could be the concentrated fat--I can eat raw almonds fine, but almond butter will send me to the bathroom very quickly (it literally goes right thru me)
  22. I've noticed that, too. Either that or they say 'unable to digest gluten'. Neither are correct--the body treats gluten as an invader and triggers a reaction. The immune system in turn attacks the lining of the small intestine. You are right I almost forgot why I posted here in the first place --my local health food store carries it's own brand of...
  23. Steve, You probably already know this, but Sensodyne is *not* gluten-free. Someone else here was glutened by it recently. Just wanted you to know in case you missed it
