ARCHIVED Has Your Reaction To Gluten Changed?
MGR replied to GFAnnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't worry you will know when you've been glutened! Ive been gluten-free since November now and although I am generally fine with the food I have cooked myself, I still keep glutening myself with things I think should be gluten free but turn out not to be. My last one was from a glass of fruit juice... First think I get is a burning sensation in my tummy... -
Thanks so much for your reassurance- This is precisely what I am doing, I'm not doing any more challenges just for their sake... I am actually quite tired of the doctors' s lack of imagination and insensitivity ...

I think I am one of those people squirmingitch describes- I am still a half diagnosed celiac... I have already posted in other threads about my case, please excuse me if I am repeating myself.... After havering been on a gluten challenge for 8 weeks I went for an endoscopy, and the endoscopist saw mild scallopings in my intestine and said I was celiac- however...

Hi Katie, Together with my gastric, joint, foggy, etc issues, I also get this burning, itchy painful rash around my body. I get it at the back on my to thigh towards the buttocks, around my neck, scull - the first thing is also this horrendous burning sensation, where the first thought is - I want to cut my leg/ head/ neck off to be free of this sensation...

MGR replied to grey66's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Again, what a good idea the cardboard box is...!! I am also learning.. But I still keep glutening myself accidentally- my last one happened two days ago with a fruit juice of all things - Capri Sun ( I am not sure if they have it in America- I'm in Europe and here it is popular in several countries) . And don't do what I do: assume something should be gluten... -

Hi CK1223 I am also in UK, and I completely sympathise with you- I also have a GP who prescribes paracetamol for anything and wait and see.... Don't want to discourage you, but you still have a while to go.... Best of luck and I'll be thinking of you! -
Hi you can buy gluten-free foods in Spain in most ordinary supermarkets- especially the one called MERCADONA who's owner' daughter is also celiac and made sure that for every gluten full item you can find the corresponding gluten-free nearby... You can also find a variety gluten-free products in Health food shops, they are called " tiendas de dietética" ...

MGR replied to heymom45's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not sure how Fahrenheit works... But it sounds cold... We're having a most mild winter.... It rains a lot and it's often very windy down from the Highlands, but it is not as cold as it should be- this means that it will probably snow in April- May !! -
ARCHIVED Need Advice For My Next Step
MGR replied to Sparky123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Also some types of bacon, or cooked ham sometimes have hidden gluten among their ingredients- you have to try to get the most natural kinds of these. For breakfast I tend to have fruit and a bowl of natural yoghourt with maple syrup, coffee or tea.. -

MGR replied to MGR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh, I am so grateful you all of you who took the time to answer my plea, this would explain a lot, Shellie.. As I mentioned above, the endoscopist saw scallopings ( even though mild, but they are still there) .... I will have to make a fuss about my skin rash the next time I see the doctor. In the meantime I feel soo much better gluten free. Because I...- 10 replies

MGR replied to MGR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks, very much for the info, I thought I had also read something about negative results for individuals with DH, but wasn't certain... Yes, my uncle has been diagnosed- I don't think I will have a biopsy because I would have to eat gluten for them to appear .... I've already done one gluten challenge, I am not doing a second one! I will just wait for the...- 10 replies

ARCHIVED Another Boring Plea! But I Am So Upset!
MGR replied to MGR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks to the flower compliments, my daughter made it for me.... Unfortunately, how the system works in Scotland, it is highly unlikely I will meet this endoscopist again as one never meets the same person twice, sometimes it is a good thing but at other times it is not... I will just have to nag the one I get the next time..- 10 replies

ARCHIVED Another Boring Plea! But I Am So Upset!
MGR replied to MGR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
As regards to the DH no, it has never been diagnosed formally - I just started getting the burning, yellowish/ red rush that looks like watery bubbles on the back of my legs, sometimes around and inside and around my genital area, other times around my scull since I've had my first daughter- I always assumed it was some sort of odd looking chicken pocks...- 10 replies
