ARCHIVED Need To Get This Off My Chest
beth01 replied to beth01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You guys are great! Thank you so much for your kind responses and I am sorry you all have had do endure much of the same. I can't believe the overwhelming support I have found here. I wish I would have had it ten years ago, but I have it now and that is all that matters. I have found a family here. I went back to the doctor this morning, lost more...- 12 replies

ARCHIVED Need To Get This Off My Chest
beth01 replied to beth01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This was probably the PERFECT first response I could have hope for. I cried, but they are happy tears. I am doing things right! For one, I am doing or talking about doing everything you stated. Depending on when I have the energy and actually feel healthy enough for any of it. There is still more to the story but I edited for content, I have enough...- 12 replies

ARCHIVED Need To Get This Off My Chest
beth01 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi all. I am sorry if this gets long, but I have a story to tell and I think if I tell it to people that understand and relate I will feel a lot better emotionally. Even if no one reads anything this long. I remember having my first health problems my first day of second grade, that was 30 years ago. I had the worst headache and puked up my spaghetti...- 12 replies

ARCHIVED Frustrated With Co-Parent
beth01 replied to Christina.V's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think that people are going to have different opinions for two different reasons: 1. They have children with celiac and have been through the testing before ( some with a co-parent). 2. The degree in which they are sick if they are Celiac themselves. I don't know much about Celiac and it's testing, I was just diagnosed two months ago. I was a lab... -
The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Sequel
beth01 replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I don't seem to have a filter and my mouth seems to think faster than my brain lately, I think I just now end every sentence in "I'm sorry" just in case I said something stupid. I have to give a little back story to make this funny. My parents divorced when I was a year old and when I was 4 my biological father deserted me ( I know, not funny but it... -

Just putting my two cents in. Pot has saved me the last few years. Do I smoke daily? Yup. Do I eat daily? Yup. Would I eat if I didn't? Not nearly as much, and I am a walking skeleton right now and need as much food as I can get! I also don't use it to get high, I use it more for the fact that is makes me hungry. Just be careful. It seems you are... -
ARCHIVED Positive Blood Test- Gluten Free For 4 Months
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I lost my job as a Medical Lab Tech for missing too much work because of illness a few years ago and decided to work somewhere that was a little easier emotionally. I got a job at a Creamery making yogurt and a job as a cook in a restaurant that I had worked at while I was going to school. Two worst places for me. Who can work with all that flour and different... -

ARCHIVED Positive Blood Test- Gluten Free For 4 Months
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Didn't mean to post that twice, I am having problems with my computer. It disappeared and then I had to retype it. I didn't mean it to sound b%$@#y, I was just wondering. I am scared poop-less of family get togethers -
ARCHIVED Positive Blood Test- Gluten Free For 4 Months
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am not saying you aren't a sensitive Celiac, I was just wondering how you can tell how foods are prepared by smell and appearance? Did you prepare all the Easter meal yourself? I didn't go to Easter meal this year because I had just been diagnosed the week before. My family offered to make gluten free menu items, I declined. How am I to know if Aunt... -

ARCHIVED Confusing Diagnosis, Would Appreciate Your Opinion!
beth01 replied to lasvegas's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I also had gallbladder issues for about a year before they figured it out. I had a lot of problems with my stools, a burning sensation across my whole chest under my ribs, no matter what I ate I felt awful. I also didn't have stones, or any other classic signs, except my gallbladder was inflamed. It was such a small amount they weren't going to do anything... -
ARCHIVED Concerned About My Symptoms
beth01 replied to Laura88's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The immunoglobulin panel is all normal. That wouldn't necessarily make the tTg IgA come up as a false negative, but I would be more concerned about the 0 result. I would ask about it. -
ARCHIVED Concerned About My Symptoms
beth01 replied to Laura88's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did you get a physical lab report? The normal values should be listed next to the test value, to the right. If I remember correctly, most of the immunoglobin test here in the stated are reported in mg/l or mg/dl. I was a lab tech for 16 years but haven't been an immunologist so I am not as familiar with these results. Having the normal values would gives... -
ARCHIVED How To Approach Dating?
beth01 replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I don't date, I have a live in boyfriend but I can relate to the newness of your diagnosis. But, I can tell you that if I would have been diagnosed when I was still married my ex-husband wouldn't have been nearly as supportive as my boyfriend is now ( maybe why he is an ex lol). My point is, yes it's going to be hard trying to date when some people are... -
ARCHIVED New Member. Had To Go To Medical School To Figure This Out!
beth01 replied to Deekle's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
This might be a totally stupid question, but how can your insurance claim your "symptoms" are a pre-existing condition if it wasn't diagnosed until recently? Do they have a Magic 8 Ball and knew you would some day get a diagnosis for your symptoms? Are they psychic? BTW, welcome to the club. I was hoping you were still doing your challenge and I could... -
For one, if you are dating someone they need to be informed of your Celiac and explained in detail just what it does to your body. Many people have been glutened by their significant others from eating gluten and forgetting to brush their teeth. For two, if you explain your condition to a girl and they still want to go to a pizza joint are they even worth...

ARCHIVED Contamination Anxiety- Help!
beth01 replied to afitgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I felt the same way you did when I was diagnosed two months ago. At first I was relieved that I had a diagnosis and finally knew I wasn't going insane. It seemed that every doctor thought I was a hypochondriac. Then came the waves of depression. It's so hard to clean out all your food, get rid of some of your appliances, tell family and friends, getting... -
ARCHIVED Exercise And Emotional Problems

With the labs that you had drawn, did you have a TSH test done? Seems to me that Celiac and thyroid issues go hand in hand. When I was diagnosed with Grave's disease ( thyroid condition), I had lost a ton of weight, sweating all the time, my heart would feel like it was beating out of my chest even with a normal heart rate, I was losing all muscle mass...- 9 replies

ARCHIVED One Child Celiac, The Other Not
beth01 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter who is 11 tested positive for Celiac ( we haven't seen her GI yet but she has been gluten free), and my son who is 9 screened negative, and I also have Celiac. My house is gluten free and her father's house is also gluten free. How do people deal with things like this? I have been talking about just having my son going gluten free exclusively... -
I already do feel noticeably better already, two months ago was non stop puking, pain, migraines, and other unmentionable things bathroom related. I am much more regular, don't have to take any stool softeners, haven't had a headache in months ( at least nothing Tylenol didn't fix), the brain fog is barely there ( except for a few mishaps), no more joint...

ARCHIVED Is Endoscopy Necessary?
beth01 replied to beth01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
For blood tests for celiac, both her and I have had just the tTG IgA and the IgA. I had the endoscopy the same time as the blood tests, I was really sick. My GP that had Lainey tested was the one that said for her to go gluten free. Can they officially diagnose her based on my Celiac diagnosis and the fact that her tTg IgA was >100? Is there also more... -
ARCHIVED Frustrated With Co-Parent
beth01 replied to Christina.V's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Another thing, what kind of custody agreement do you have? Could you go to mediation to try and get your ex to change his mind? Maybe with the help of a judge you could get him to comply. It has to be some sort of abuse to your daughter feeding her foods that are going to harm her later in life. I know I told my ex-husband after my daughter's diagnosis... -
ARCHIVED Frustrated With Co-Parent

What do the numbers mean anyway? Her tests results are 27.6, isn't it supposed to be <4.0? Mine was 35.6, and I have a TON of health problems, my daughter's is >100 and she has little symptoms. Isn't a positive a positive? I am not trying to sound b%$@#y, just asking.
