ARCHIVED Colonic For Severe Constipation
beth01 replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for sharing. This might be something I will look into. I have always been more on the C spectrum than the D and it seems no matter how hard ( haha) I try to stay on top of it, I am never normal. Where does one go to get a colonic? -
ARCHIVED Dealing With Being Gluten Free Accompanied By Other Serious Food Restrictions?
beth01 replied to supersquatchy's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I think the hardest part right now is our stomachs are so inflamed that it seems like everything is bothering us. I have some of the same problems that you have with food and it's frustrating because that is what we are supposed to eat. It's gluten free, why does it make us feel like poo? Right now eat your safe foods for a while and only them. Start...- 4 replies

ARCHIVED Bladder Pain
beth01 replied to UK2004's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was wondering about this myself. I have been having problems with a lot of bladder pain that is nothing like a UTI ( I was checked for one last week). It seems like the more water I drink, the better off it is. I have also been taking the stuff from the store that helps with urinary pain. I have also had problems with vaginal itching that isn't BV or a... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Found Anything That Helps With Memory Retrieval?
beth01 replied to Blu-1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am memory problems something fierce. Six months ago I would have swore I was getting early onset Alzheimer's, I'm 37. I am still having problems, though they are not as bad. I wasn't trying to offend anybody by trying to make light of the situation, sometimes that is the only way I know how to cope. We know it is our disease and hopefully those around... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease For Almost A Year And I Am Almost Sick
beth01 replied to Ashley25's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ashley- First off, welcome to the forum. This place is great for information and support. Everyone here is wonderful and most helpful in trying to help with everything! I will ask the questions that Georgia_guy didn't ask.... Do you have a completely gluten free kitchen or do you share it with others? Cross contamination is a big issue. How did... -
ARCHIVED Waiting For Results
beth01 replied to HilHil's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I love insurance companies. You would think they would pay for the panel before they would pay for the gene testing. I looked into getting the gene testing done and it was between 8 and 10 thousand dollars!!! The whole celiac panel doesn't cost that combined. I hope you get the answers you need, it's no fun feeling like crap all the time. -
ARCHIVED Am I Highly Sensitive? When Will I Feel Better?
beth01 replied to Kias4's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Have you gotten any animals recently? A lot (ok most) pet foods have gluten in them. I got glutened one day and knew without a doubt that I hadn't eaten anything with gluten for days. Got tipped off a few days after while watching my cat drink out of my water glass. That's where it came from! Once this bag is gone, it's gluten free food for them also... -
ARCHIVED Super Cranky, Terrible Day. Thinking Of Hunger Striking
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There is a bakery a few towns from me that does gluten free on Wednesdays. I have some of the cookies in my freezer lol. They are delicious. I just don't eat them that often since the whole sugar thing is a bother for me. On a brighter note, I took Lactaid for the first time last night and had a 1/4 of a cup of ice cream. Probably the best ice cream I... -
ARCHIVED Super Cranky, Terrible Day. Thinking Of Hunger Striking
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, it really is hard to make future plans these days. You just never know how you are going to feel on a day to day basis. I hope you are up for it, those bakeries that make the gluten free goodies are so much better than the crap you have the option to buy in the store. I think I need a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie now. LOL -
I hope you get things figured out with your doctor situation. About your children, have them tested. Mine are 9 and 11 and when I asked about testing them, my GP that sees us all said it wasn't necessary. This was after my 11 year old has been to cardiac specialists, had an echocardiogram, EKG, and an ultrasound of her heart because she was having unexplained...

ARCHIVED Super Cranky, Terrible Day. Thinking Of Hunger Striking
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am a pro at surgeries! The endoscopy really isn't bad. They start an IV on you, and give you a little something to calm down (at least they did me). They ask a lot of questions, then you talk to the doctor who is going to explain the procedure, they tell you they are going to give you a little something to help you sleep, then BAM, you wake up. A little... -
ARCHIVED Super Cranky, Terrible Day. Thinking Of Hunger Striking
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I didn't find out squat today. My doc sent a referral for rheumatology. A fat lot of good that did, they can't get me in until July 25th!!! Why the hell they think I can wait that long when I am in this much pain is beyond me. The doc wrote me a script for some form of anti-inflammatory since my GI doesn't want me on narcotics (the 2 I'm not allergic to... -
ARCHIVED Can H Pylori Give False Positive On Endoscopy Biopsy?
beth01 replied to Prairigirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Maybe you can start a topic about diagnosis based on increased IEL's to see if anyone else was diagnosed that way. Have you gotten a second opinion? -
ARCHIVED Super Cranky, Terrible Day. Thinking Of Hunger Striking
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been taking B12 supplements but my numbers were below the lower limit. I have been having some weird pain going on too, head to toe hurt. It travels. I am going to go to the doctor tomorrow to get it checked out. I just hope I make it that long. I can't take another night like last night, might have to break down and go to the ER. My emotions... -

beth01 replied to HilHil's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the club. I think we have all had these symptoms at one time or another. I would recommend reading the newbie thread and learn about cross contamination. Are they doing more than the gene testing? Are you having an endoscopy? You need to still be eating gluten for the endoscopy. -
ARCHIVED Can H Pylori Give False Positive On Endoscopy Biopsy?
beth01 replied to Prairigirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No need to apologize. For one, I just noticed this was from March and they probably already have their answer. I just didn't want to give anyone false hope. I really don't think doctors diagnose Celiac based on increased IELs alone, and the OP didn't state just what the findings of the endoscopy was. I didn't want them confused. We're all here to help -
ARCHIVED Super Cranky, Terrible Day. Thinking Of Hunger Striking
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The road to celiac is paved with ups and downs. The ups are our good days. We feel well, eat well, and live well those days. The downs are our bad days. We feel like crap, don't eat well, and try to live. We rant a lot on here. I think the first year is the worst. We just have to make it through that year. That's what we have each other for -
ARCHIVED Can H Pylori Give False Positive On Endoscopy Biopsy?
beth01 replied to Prairigirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
h-pylori might cause increased IELs but it will not cause the atrophy of the villi. The study/research that is posted above is from 2006 and clearly states that only 17 people out of the original 639 were included in the final research. Only 2% of the initial 639 were celiacs, which it doesn't state how many of them actually made it into the final 17... -
ARCHIVED Glutened Myself Bad, Any Tips On Surviving?!?
beth01 replied to ezgoindude's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Pepto Bismol has been my best friend lately. I have bottles of it everywhere! In my car, purse, house, parents' home, friend's homes, literally everywhere. Seems to really help calm my intestines and helps with that awful burning. I would stay away from fried foods in general, unless they only fry gluten free foods in the oil.. too much cross contamination... -

ARCHIVED Blood Tests, Diagnosis, And Dithering
beth01 replied to hannely's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yearly you should be tested for B12, Folate, Vitamin D, Iron, a Complete Blood Count, a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel ( which needs to include calcium and magnesium), and you should also have your thyroid checked every year. I can tell you that a lot of people with celiac also get migraines. I have had them my whole life except for the last two months... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Pediatric Hearing Loss - Does It Improve?
beth01 replied to greenbeanie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Kids can have small/short Eustachian tubes that don't properly drain all the junk. My daughter only gets ear infections when she gets colds. Does your daughter get a lot of colds? There is a test they do where they stick a probe in the ear that blows a little air in and they test the waves in the ear to see if there is a fluid build up. The fluid build... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Pediatric Hearing Loss - Does It Improve?
beth01 replied to greenbeanie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My daughter is 11 and was just diagnosed with celiac. She has had chronic ear infections her whole life, two in the last few months. I had asked about if there was a correlation between the two and was told no. She has also had 4 sets of tubes and is getting her 5th set in a few weeks. Is it possible her ears just aren't draining properly and would... -
ARCHIVED Need Some Advice
beth01 replied to beth01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I somehow managed to make it through the night. Not sure how, the pain was everywhere and traveling but it seems more like nerve pain that anything. And some of my bones ache. One minute my back would hurt, then my foot, then my arm, my neck, my chest, my legs, then the fun of everywhere all at once. It kind of came in cycles. I called the clinic this...
