Has anyone else read a complete copy of their medical records? I received my medical records from birth until age 26. I find them rather disturbing. Note after note from multiple doctors complaining of the same symptoms time and time again. Reading doctors state " I can't find a reasonable explanation for reoccurring symptoms" or after taking medical...

As to your name glutenfreegrump, I am assuming your husband is also on the grumpy side. You will notice that slowly diminishes as the diet goes better. I would read the newbie threads on here and read about cross contamination. Good luck in both your struggles ( it becomes a team effort ), it's an uphill battle the first year. But things will get better...

ARCHIVED Constipation And Diarrhea
beth01 replied to beth01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My boyfriend thought I was crazy for posting this until I let him read the responses, he laughed. I feel like I just graduated Poop School at the age of 37. I hate to see what a diploma from there would look like lol. -
ARCHIVED Constipation And Diarrhea
beth01 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know this is a TMI, but I have had chronic constipation and slow movement my whole life or diarrhea so I am excited to share and I know you all understand! I have actually had a whole week where I pooped everyday!!!!! Never happened to me before in my life. All normal, not too soft, not too hard, still a rainbow but hey, I pooped every day. Just... -

Sorry that you are going though this after moving and not knowing anyone, that has to be hard. Just know this, you aren't alone and this site is a wealth if information with some very knowledgeable people. We will help get you through this. It is very frustrating at first but I have learned so much on here, it helps make it easier. I would suggest reading... -
Brain Frogs, that is priceless. I am with Karen, they can go live in someone else's brain. I find that doing something that is going to challenge my brain helps. Two years ago I could do a 5 star Sudoku in the paper in less than ten minutes, now I can't finish them at all. I stick more to the one and two star ones to cut back on my frustration, but they...

ARCHIVED Heart Issues
beth01 replied to Steph1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Have you had your thyroid checked? That is usually my first tip off when I am either hypo or hyper thyroid - my heart almost feels like it is beating out of my chest and skips a beat or two. That's usually when I haul my butt to the doctor, get my blood drawn and am told I need to adjust my meds. -
ARCHIVED How To Deal With Servers Who Don't Think Celiac Is Real
beth01 replied to ChelseaS's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
My glutening happened when I went to a supposed "safe" restaurant for a celiac support group meeting. My daughter and I had the same thing, I got sick she didn't. She doesn't seem to have classic GI symptoms though and I know she told me she had some gluten ( a Kit Kat) a few weeks ago because she "forgot" she had celiac. She said she didn't feel sick... -
ARCHIVED One Child Celiac, The Other Not
beth01 replied to beth01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I by no means meant any offense and the "normal" part came right out of my diagnosed child's mouth. I would never call her abnormal for having celiac, I have it myself. To me having celiac is my new normal which I explained to my daughter. Unfortunately children can be mean and she was getting picked on at school for the fainting problems she was having before... -

ARCHIVED False Positive Tests?
beth01 replied to Anne01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If I were you I would believe it and thank my lucky stars it was caught early. So many have a lot of health problems from misdiagnosis for years as Laura said, myself included. Check out the newbie threads on here and read about cross contamination, they are very helpful. Everybody reacts differently when they do get glutened if they even notice it at all... -
ARCHIVED Is Endoscopy Necessary?
beth01 replied to beth01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Went to the Ped's GI today and he isn't going to do an endoscopy. He feels comfortable officially diagnosing her based on my diagnosis and her tTg IgA. He did draw the DGP tests so we will wait for them. Has her going back in six months to have her tTg IgA checked again. He had her checked for some deficiencies and thyroid testing and liver enzymes also... -
ARCHIVED One Child Celiac, The Other Not
beth01 replied to beth01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We went to the Pediatric GI today and he suggested to have him tested every two years and get the gene testing if insurance will cover it. I guess it will be a waiting game with him. He will be gluten free at home and then eat lunch at school like all the normal kids. Hopefully he stays negative. Thanks for all your input, it's greatly appreciated. -
ARCHIVED How To Deal With Servers Who Don't Think Celiac Is Real
beth01 replied to ChelseaS's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I got glutened at a Celiac Support group meeting in my area where everyone in our group was a celiac except for two people. I had figured if it was good enough for them, it's good enough for me. It's more of a gamble than anything. You are just playing Russian roulette with your health. -
ARCHIVED Gluten During Menstruation
beth01 replied to Steph1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Last month during my period I was having weird cravings. I really wanted a bunch of things I shouldn't have. Taco Bell, Chinese food, Cheddar Bay biscuits, a deep dish pizza. My boyfriend gave me this speech: you want to a Taco Bell- I will go get you an order of stomach pain, you want Chinese- I will order the diarrhea, the Red Lobster biscuits- how about... -

ARCHIVED Newbie Needing Advice For Hurricane Season
beth01 replied to Serielda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome to the forum! I sent you a private message with a few names of sites that have stuff just like this. One of them has been banned from this site and would have been removed. If you are a newbie I would read the newbie 101 thread and read up about cross contamination. You could also search vegan on here because I have read that a few on here...- 8 replies

ARCHIVED Jennifer's Way Breads!
beth01 replied to user001's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There were four people that replied to this post besides me. I can't multi-quote, the function just does not work for me no matter how hard I try. I try to be tactful in everything I say. I take time in what I write trying not to offend anyone. Obviously not everyone feels that way. Jules is obviously feeling discouraged and it's understandable. I was... -

Remember your first job? How you were new, didn't know exactly how things were done (even after reading a procedure manual), made mistakes, and felt stupid all the time? The same sort of applies here. The OP and I are like that only we weren't handed a procedure manual on the way out the doctor's door following our diagnosis. I was given a small pamphlet... -
ARCHIVED Wow Without Wheat--Okemos, Mi (East Of Lansing) (Photos Included)
beth01 replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I think I need to move to Michigan. I would love to open up a completely gluten free restaurant in my area but don't have the energy or patience for it right now ( or money lol). Maybe someday ( now I hear Judy Garland singing). Maybe I just need to follow the yellow brick road. LOL -
ARCHIVED Body Shape, Effect Of Weight Loss In Celiac?
beth01 replied to UK2004's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This is all my belief and I am sure someone will dispute it just based on the fact that it's not scientific.... Your body has lost the ability to gain nutrients from the foods we eat, our intestines are too damaged to absorb them. Your body then looks to the nearest thing, fat cells. If your body depletes that source, it then moves on to muscle mass... -

ARCHIVED Frustrated, Not Sure What To Do From Here!
beth01 replied to Trisarahtops's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know you probably don't want to hear this, but it sounds like you are getting glutened from some where. You have to listen to your body. I know that I used to get terrible migraines my whole life and they magically disappeared after going gluten free. When I even get a headache now it's a tip off that I have been glutened. Do you share your living...
