Kept getting worse, so I'm spending my evening at the hospital....with talk of gallbladder. :-/

Today I have had: Fritos Diet Coke Mission Brand Corn Tortillas Uncle Ben's Boil in Bag Rice Black Beans Johnny Appleseed Hard Cider I'm nauseous, doubled over in pain (not my usual belly area, it's right side just below the rib wrapping around to the back), and upper abdominal cramps. I don't see anything that could have had gluten?!?

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease For Almost A Year And I Am Almost SickGeorgia-guy replied to Ashley25's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff Ashley, first I want to say welcome! Next, curiousity is killing me...is the 25 in your username your age? Now down to the important stuff....how were you diagnosed? Have you had a follow up of the same testing to see if there are improvements (this would tell if you might be missing something and inadvertently glutening yourself)? I would strongly recommend...

ARCHIVED Minimisation By Family/friends.Georgia-guy replied to Chrissie32's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I have yet to tell my family. But I guarantee it will get interesting. But moosemalibu, you hit the nail on the head with what I was thinking....it's not so much finding something we can eat, it's more the questions and looks when I pull a snack bar out of my laptop bag, or take a burger right off the grill before it goes on the "serve yourself" table, or...

ARCHIVED Really? Another Curveball?Georgia-guy replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms The main reason I want to get the official Dx is so that there will be reason for doing follow up blood work (monitoring my antibodies, vitamins, etc). I can do the diet without the official note in my charts, all I have to do when I look at a sub sandwich is remember the pain it will bring.

ARCHIVED How To Deal With Servers Who Don't Think Celiac Is RealGeorgia-guy replied to ChelseaS's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants The only place I have been told for certain around me meets the requirements for keeping a meal gluten-free is Ted's Montana Grill. From what I've been told they have an entirely separate part of the kitchen with it's own equipment for gluten-free prep. As for regular restaurants, those that have a gluten-free menu should be well aware of the requirements...

ARCHIVED Really? Another Curveball?Georgia-guy replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Cyclinglady, when are we going to the lake? I haven't been to Lanier in years. NatureChick, it's not that it was outside of their system, it's that it was completely outside of a doctor's office. It's because I went to the lab myself without a doctor's orders and had the tests run at my request. Moosemalibu, dare I say first of all, you have a very good...

ARCHIVED Really? Another Curveball?Georgia-guy replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Yes I'm in Georgia. The problem with getting a new doc is there's only 1 medical group where I live, and it's their "policy", so a different doc would have no difference. I know the lab still has the results cuz they came in a week and a half ago.

ARCHIVED Really? Another Curveball?Georgia-guy replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms They can charge my insurance all they want, they're worthless anyways.

ARCHIVED Really? Another Curveball?Georgia-guy replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms If another doctor ordered the tests, they would accept them. It's because I went outside of the system and did it that they won't take them. The results were electronically sent from the lab to the doc, and I brought them a sealed copy from the lab with a tamper evident seal.

ARCHIVED Really? Another Curveball?Georgia-guy posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms So I thought that after going out of pocket at a lab, and getting positive blood work, I would be done with a need for tests......... However, I just read a letter from my doctor saying that "due to the fact that I did NOT have the blood work done through a doctor's office, the results of the blood work would not be accepted by the office as valid for diagnosis...

ARCHIVED Waiting For ResultsGeorgia-guy replied to HilHil's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Welcome HilHil! As Beth said, you still need to be eating gluten for testing to be accurate. The genetic test only tests to see if you carry the gene for celiac, and is not a diagnostic test. Your doctor should also order the following tests: Ttg IgA Ttg IgG IgA total syrum Dgp IgA Dgp IgG The IgA total syrum test is important because many people with...

ARCHIVED I Am Blind...Georgia-guy replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I use ipiit, and when it's not in the database, it asks if you want to add it, if you say yes, them you take pictures of it (front, nutrition label, and ingredient label) and in a week or so it gets added. But I still also double check if it says it is gluten free. :-)

ARCHIVED I Am Blind...Georgia-guy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications As a bat. I went grocery shopping at Kroger today, and was getting very frustrated trying to find gluten-free products, and not because they don't exist. I am still new to the whole reading the label deal, so I'm being extra careful. I downloaded an app that tells me when I scan a barcode if it contains gluten or wheat, then if it says the item is safe, I...

ARCHIVED How Do You Describe Celiac Disease When People Ask You "what's That?"Georgia-guy replied to HavaneseMom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease That part right there had me laughing! However, I think the curtsy part wouldn't work too well for me. :-/ But what I have been saying is something to the effect of "I have a disorder that causes my body to react very badly to certain foods". (I say disorder because when I said disease people tended to back up like it was contagious...have you had your...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer/aleGeorgia-guy replied to rick797's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Sorry Karen, I didn't see your post. I just came accross the website looking for salad dressings and remembered this post, so I went to the beers and shared the link real quick like. :-)

ARCHIVED College, Work, Travel, And DatingGeorgia-guy replied to Hobbes's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff This part of your posts is exactly what I've been feeling like lately. I just go my Dx a week and a half ago(ish), and I've had some people I've talked to that are baffled, I've had some who are familiar with celiac (they have family and friends that have celiac), and some one person (whose mom is celiac and about 100 other food issues) tell me "you're life...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer/aleGeorgia-guy replied to rick797's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Here is a link to a website I found that lists gluten-free items. They state they "strive to provide up to date information" (so just double check labels or contact the manufacturer to verify). This site is amazing because the list pretty much every good category you can think of. The link is directly to the gluten-free beers. Open Original Shared Link

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer/aleGeorgia-guy replied to rick797's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I'm not the OP, I just posted that link to give an idea of a starting point, and how to look up lists on google since there is no "master list" of gluten free beer. (Which thinking about it, I might just make one...)

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer/aleGeorgia-guy replied to rick797's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Karen, just to make it clear, I said they are listed if they are gluten-free (a glance at the list shows the right column says "gluten-free" if they are reported as Gluten Free), but I would appreciate clarification on your comment, Crabbie's Ginger Beer and New Planet are listed on there as gluten-free, as is Woodchuck Cider; are they not gluten free? Crabbie...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer/aleGeorgia-guy replied to rick797's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Below is a link to a beer festival listing. The beers that are gluten free are labeled. I have not found a true full listing of gluten-free beers online anywhere, but looking up beer festivals, every one that I found has the gluten-free beers listed. This is just one of them (I can't find the links to the other ones I found right now), but I have been enjoying...
