ARCHIVED New Please Help, Does This Sound Consistant With Gluten Intolerance
user001 replied to Matt.tilley's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have heard that many people are tested for years before having a positive diagnosis for celiac. If you feel better off gluten, then stay away. I have been having a similar pain on the right side under the rib case, radiates a bit into the back 1-2 hours after eating. It seems to be ok if i take a digestive enzyme with my food, I think it has to do with... -
ARCHIVED Just Found Out Celiac Is In My Family
user001 replied to camelCase's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I understand what you mean. I also come from that type of place, doctors yelling at me for having deficiencies when I ate healthy food! I ate my whole wheat toast and my whole wheat pasta! I moved to a much better city, better known for healthcare and still, I had to insist on testing for celiac, the doctor didn't think I had celiac and discouraged me from... -

Chicks love dudes that can cook! -
A few weeks after I stopped eating gluten, I had ridiculous energy and I would always go to bed thinking I needed 12 hours, and that's just not how it was anymore. I have settled on about 9 hours but for awhile there, I had such a burst of energy and was up till 2 am some nights.

ARCHIVED Gaining Weight Since Going Gluten Free, And Already Overweight!
user001 replied to JesikaBeth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This has happened to me also, even eating good food. I have always had days where I just have uncontrollable hunger and it seems to have improved the past month or so. I have also taken up swimming a few times a week. I have arthritis and it seems to be a great workout with no pain for me. I looked it up and it actually burns something like 450 calories for... -

ARCHIVED Meal Planning For The Newly Diagnosed- Challenge
user001 replied to user001's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
OK #1 I had a problem with gluten free oatmeal and spending time with children who consumed gluten and may have gotten some on me. I had eating spicy food (very mild) 24 hours prior, someone had suggested this was why I was having a problem. Never have had problems with spicy foods. #2 thank you for clearing things up for me with the damage and such... -

Totally paranoid, just want to get better. I have been drinking a protein/vitamin shake that seems to be a good snack for me. I didn't realize it till last week but it has L-glutamine which is supposed to be great for healing. I hate the taste but whatever helps. -

ARCHIVED Bob's Red Mill gluten-free "oatmeal"
user001 replied to SMRI's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have recently gotten into millet for breakfast. It is easier to cook overnight in a crock pot. Loaded with protein, fiber and low fat. I feel like its pretty cheap too because 1/4 cup is a serving which cooks up into 1 cup. I treated it like oatmeal and added some sugar and cinnamon, it satisfied my want for oatmeal in the morning but didn't give me heartburn... -

Thank you! Im just very concerned about making more mistakes, I made a lot when I first started in march and I just want to get better. I really try to avoid processed foods but occasionally you need to have your turkey burger with a bun or just have a freaking cookie so you don't go insane. -

I am really just looking for what things are good for healing for people who are new. I looked at the newbie thread, but im really passed the "omg i cant eat anything" and more at the point where Im like, what can i eat to start getting healthy. I like squash and I have read its easy on the stomach, but I think diversity is good for getting the most nutrition... -

Being recently diagnosed is hard and many people tell me their nutritionist was not very helpful when they visted after being diagnosed. I agree, there was so many things they left out and never mentioned, like they say we can eat everything but gluten, NOT TRUE. Like eating gluten free oats, hello- bad suggestion doc! I will be seeing a different nutritionist... -
ARCHIVED Just Found Out Celiac Is In My Family
user001 replied to camelCase's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Continue to eat the way you normally do till testing is complete, no biggie! Ask the dr to run the blood tests for celiac, and go from there. I am a 30 year old college student at a state university and I managed to cut out gluten last semester and it actually benefited me very much. My brain was so much clearer, my concentration improved and I could study... -

I noticed that around my 2-3 month point of being gluten-free. I had read that it was normal to have that so I wasn't took worried, but it really just faded away after a few weeks-a month. I think I read it can be part of the detox process. -
I'm going to ny Presbyterian Columbia next month, I think Boston and Chicago are the best of the best though.

It's so funny to me, looking back I could eat hot peppers all the time with no problem, but every time I ate oatmeal (pre celiac dx) it would give me heartburn without fail! -

ARCHIVED Weird Problem With Acetaminophen
user001 replied to user001's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh, I also wanted to note that I was not curious about him being glutened from the medicine, I was wondering if its some allergic reaction that was common for people with celiac disease, I thought it might be possible because of how it is processed through the body or something. I really haven't ever taken it till recently, so I was curious to know if this...
