ARCHIVED Aauggghhhhhhh Doctors!
Rusla replied to moonunit's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Believe me I know where you are coming from on this. I went through this with so many doctors not just on this disease but on the Hashimoto's as well and pernicious anemia. Vent away when they blather to me about this and that, I tell them I have had my body much longer than they have been admiring it so, who knows better how I feel me or them. Time to... -

ARCHIVED Opi Nail Polishes
Rusla replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh my gosh! I have the nail envy and after using it my nails became worse. I did not feel good the whole time I had it on so I took it off. Darn now what will I do for my nasty nails. -
ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Rusla replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know that it takes a very small amount even just a few crumbs for me to react. So, I know my limitations and how awful I feel so cheating is not an option or something I even think about. Radman--As you have found out, we become addictive...lol. I guess you come back to talk to us for the same reason we do, so that we can share experiences, gluten-free... -

I can share my Gorilla Munch. -
Don't worry I get all excited and bounce around and dance when I see things are gluten-free. I just realized something, it was horselover's name. I will never be able to kiss horses velvety lips again.

Yes!! That is what I like to see. That is how I feel about it also. I look at cookies and think, I don't need those and I walk away smiling because I know I can make ones that taste better gluten-free. People tell me they would not want to have what I have and I tell them it is not so bad,I like my food better now than I did with gluten.

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Rusla replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Step right up folks, come one, come all..we have a real live doctor in our midst. Yes, we have one brave doctor who has joined the ranks of disgusted and bitter Celiacs. Yes folks he was captured wandering in the hallowed halls of Celiac.com and we are thrilled to have lured him in with gluten-free food and smelly stool talk. Now you over there, don... -

ARCHIVED Grocery Store Rotisserie Chicken
Rusla replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can only speak for the Canadian contingent. I have a gluten-free list from Safeways in Canada for their safeway and select brand items. I actually had the Safeway store in Montgomery in Calgary make a copy to keep in their store in case I leave my list at home which I often do. So, I know their rotisserie chicken is fine. -
I drove the point home by using some medical conditions family members have to get it across. For my brother and his wife (she is diabetic) I said that I would eat gluten for a month if she would go without insulin for the same period of time. For my mother, I told her the same thing only she had to go without her Coumadin for the same length of time. Then...

ARCHIVED Gluten And Dairy Free Plum Sauce
Rusla replied to Carriefaith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know if I am reading this right but I am reading it as Act II popcorn and Hunt's Tomato sauce and paste have gluten in them. -
Let me see. The GI I saw 8 years ago with my Pernicious Anemia said: "This is all in your head you are insane." The GP prior to that told me for a year; "You are going through menopause, you have the flu." I had neither. The specialists who refused last year to to do anything about the nodules for my hypothyroidism said: "We want them to get bigger before...

I think this is a cartoon on irony. The top of it says Barnyard blues. Imagine how depressed a horse would be without grain and how depressed a squirrel would be with out nuts and acorns. I am taking it that Hilary thinks we would feel the same way if we had those problems.

They are all annoying. The pain nausea and profuse sweating is the worst, the D and bloating is second and the ugliest is the DH on my face that happens. -
Humans are the only animals that drink milk after they have grown. I never give milk to my cats or they will have the runs all the time.

ARCHIVED Do Normal People Have This Problem?
Rusla replied to gointribal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have never been normal nor shall I ever be normal and I don't know any normal people. So, this whole question could be lost on me. But now when I get even a few crumbs of gluten by accident I get very, very sick. I had a few flakes by accident at a wedding in Jamaica that got into my food. I was so sick I had to go up to bed. -
ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Rusla replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Radman--I guess most of us ,with our lack of faith in the medical profession in diagnosing this is well founded as you knew the same problem existed. I have not tried to make pizza crust yet but I plan to out of my Bette Hagman books. Her other recipes that I have tried have turned out great. On the issue of Bm's you will have a very hard time grossing this... -
When I googled the site this is what it said. Find a Specific Strip So you're looking for a specific strip, but it's not in the recent archives? Here's what you do: If you JUST saw the strip in the newspaper, you have to wait two weeks for it to appear on the site. I don't want to be in competition with the newspapers that pay me. The Web site has...

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Rusla replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Radman, I hope you stick around there is so much we all have and can learn from each other. There are times we all sound bitter and it is because so many of us have gone through our lives being told "it is all in our head" while we suffered. This place has been my lifeline and we can help you as much as you could help us. There is one thing on my... -

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Rusla replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When I am at work, I clean off my desk and anywhere I have to sit or touch. I wear vinyl gloves and clean it with alcohol wipes. I was glutened at work a few times from bread crumbs I couldn't even see that got on my hands and I touched my face. I don't care to suffer so, I am dilligent about the gluten things and still sometimes I get glutened.
