  1. Welcome to the board and congratulations Slacker Mommy on the diagnosis. I started to cry when I read your post and I don't cry for anything except animals. I remember all too well what it felt like to be looked upon like a fabricating liar. It is a great vindication to be able to say, "see I am not nuts." This is not a horrible life, it is not so tough...
  2. Wow! Fast results. Happy to hear you are okay and you can resume you bump and grind tassle routine. Perhaps that is why they are so sore, remember they are not helicopter blades.
  3. I wonder if anyone reported that woman for sticking a pole up her butt.
  4. Iron shots are not painful, no different than any other vaccination in the upper arm. As for low iron, I think I can successfully say that after a lifetime of low iron and the not discovering the cause until just over a year ago. As it was described to me that; with the damage that has been done some of us will always have to boost our iron levels, because...
  5. Here is the deal. I know when myB-12 is dropping, I feel like I am wilting. I went through iron infusions and B-12 shots which I refuse to take for the rest of my life. I would say for the majority of us if not all of us normal swallowable B-12's don't work because of our problems absorbing. I take sublingual B-12's because they go right to the blood stream...
  6. Tis the reason why I make my own salsa.
  7. I hope you have a really great Gluten-Free Birthday!!!!!
  8. I wrote to Barb Walters and thanking her for the show on Celiac and to thank Rosie and the very brave Elisabeth for coming out and presenting it. I also said we would be so very happy if they were to do a whole or even half a show on it, and I did a ps that Autistic people cannot have gluten and there is a connection. As well as it's very debilitating effects...
  9. Think of all the things they do bigger shows on now when we had never heard of them many years ago. Anorexia was rarely heard of until Karen Carpenter died from it. The same from Bulimia until Princess Di had it. Autism never came up until Sylvestor Stallones son had it and then Rain Man was made. If we had someone who is very prominent in society...
  10. I had my gallbladder removed 35 years ago. It was a great thing having that and all it's nasty stones out as they callled me great pain. Gallbladders are not really useful for much. However, my body went into changing when I had mono which was two years before my gallbladder was removed. Until I went gluten-free it was the big "D" all the time. Now, it is...
  11. Well, it is and has been difficult for most of us in North America to get a diagnosis for Celiac Disease also. As most people originate in some form from European background we all have the potential to have the genes. I am the only diagnosed Celiac in my family. I am from Scandinavian and Italian background. I figure my aunt who has all the same problems...
  12. I guess the most we can hope for is that no one saw this cast or very few. You should write to them and thank them for setting us back 50 years.
  13. The fact that Celiac disease was mentioned in itself may help people. People who are having problems may think "hmmm, maybe I should look into this." that alone could be a help. A few minute blurb and someone saying "it isn't pretty down there." is not the best by far. Because people may think it is only there that is not pretty. However, getting it out there...
  14. I would tell her that you do not choose to end up with a bag or cancer because of this disease. If her husband wishes to that is his decision. It is your decision to make not hers how you will eat, what you will eat and your choice not to contaminate yourself. Tell her to respect you and your health by trying not to contaminate you and you will do the same...
  15. I worry about cross contamination because it is equally as bad as full scale glutening. I never touch anything that is said to be made in a facility that produces wheat.
  16. I think why we don't get a lot of air time on anything and this included when it was Celiac awareness week here is because we are not "big name" yet. Meaning if it was cancer, heart attacks or three-headed whatevers then we would get a great deal of exposure. I think that would render us more notice is making the fact that it can unfortunately cause other...
  17. I am sad that I never got to see it but as I work Fridays they pciked the wrong day.
  18. Gosh Shirley, I thought you were at first going to talk about having a problem with a date. I have had problems with dates but usually they were not edible and had two legs.
  19. I don't know when it is on, and I work all day so, I am going to miss it but I did write to Elisabeth. Seeing as how so many of us have written to her that if they do have it tomorrow maybe they will run it again sometime.

ARCHIVED My Dermatologist Made Me Cry

She sounds like the dermatologist that diagnosed me, after I forced him to do it.

    ARCHIVED Losing My Doctor

Finally, I find a decent doctor who knows about Celiac disease. Everything is going swimmingly and I go see him last Thursday at his office and he doesn't say he is leaving. There are six other doctors in the clinic and he was the most popular. He did work a great deal out of the hospital but no office there. Well I find out this week that he is no longer...
  22. I didn't see it on the website for tomorrow but I bet that is when they will have it because I will be at work.
  23. Lynda, the maltodextrin is fine, it is likely the smoke flavor as many times that is not gluten-free. Call Planters and find out.
  24. Hi Dave and welcome to the board. Finding decent sandwich bread is so much a problem that I have primarily given up on it. That is because some you have to take and put in the toaster oven or microwave for a few minutes to get it soft and then it is okay. However, stay away from the pure rice bread the only thing you get out of that is crumbs.
  25. Well, I had originally lost 40 lbs but because of extreme stress in the last six months I have gained it all back. I have been eating tons of chocolate and coke, which I really need to stop doing. Contrats AutumnE.
