  1. Have you been tested for other autoimmune diseases (ANA test)? Have you been tested for vitamin deficiencies (iron, vitamin D, B12)? And also, have you had your thyroid checked (TSH, T3, T4 and thyroid antibody tests)?
  2. You’re not alone. Everyone who has been diagnosed with celiac goes through this unfortunately. First, I would definitely recommend buying GliadinX enzymes. I always take 2 whenever I eat out. I only eat at places with gluten-free menu and always stick to basic meals to reduce cross contamination risk (usually avoid anything with a sauce that is usually t...
  3. If you are able to eat dairy, Against the Grain is hands down the best gluten-free pizza (and I'm from N.Y. coincidentally:-)) Open Original Shared Link Regarding parties, or any social gathering for that matter, I always eat before hand and get a glass of wine or cider when I'm there.
  4. I have the same problem at work. I pack my lunch in a columbia travel cooler with ice packs, make sure to keep the cover loosely on when microwaving and wash all my dishes when I get home. I eat in my car or at my desk everyday and read a book.
  5. Hard cider is usually what I get when I go out. Most all are gluten free. I find most bars carry Angry Orchard and Woodchuck (both very sweet). I'm sensitive to grain alcohol, even if it is distilled so if I do drink hard liquor, I go with potato or corn based vodkas (such as Tito's) with cranberry juice. Here's something I had bookmarked too: https:...
  6. For parties, I usually use the Betty Crocker gluten free mixes since they're quick and easy. They have a lot of good recipes on their site too. I love the vanilla cupcakes with caramel sea salt icing. Open Original Shared Link My local grocery store also sells Krusteaz gluten free mixes for cake and brownies :-)
  7. I had the same symptoms from gluten. This is exactly what would happen to me before I was diagnosed with celiac. I was living by myself at the time and would pass out in the living room, bathroom, kitchen, etc from the pain. I would break out in an intense hot cold sweat and be doubled over in so much pain that I would hyperventilate and pass out. It...
  8. I use the DineGF app and it has an international search feature. This restaurant came up when I searched on Venice. It had a very good review. Da Poggi Rio terra de La Madalena, 2103 Cannaregio, Venice, Italy Here's a link to the app too: Open Original Shared Link When I was in Rome, I had no problems. They had little stickers...
  9. I'm seeing a functional medicine doctor as well. They can run an Alcat test to determine. It is pricey though. I tried the elimination method and was able to figure out some though. Cutting out processed food helps, and other major allergens one at a time, such as dairy, eggs, soy etc.
  10. Hi zengess, I feel your pain.. my family doesn't get it either. My husband is very supportive though, so that helps a lot. I volunteer to host all holiday dinners if possible so I know the food is safe. If I go to someone else's house, I bring my own food and serve myself first, or eat beforehand and bring snacks. Be sure to bring all your own condiments...
  11. Thanks Renaye! Just saw your response now.
  12. I believe Dextrose can be made from wheat. I think Maltodextrin is usually derived from corn, but can also be made from wheat. I find it's easier to just not eat a lot of processed food, or only eat it if it's certified gluten free or from a trusted brand.
  13. Hi Tracy, I take Zantac with no problems. Also, liquid Gaviscon works well for me and is listed on their website as gluten free.
  14. Thanks Renaye. I have vitreous detachment so I'll have to check with my ophthalmologist to see if it's ok to go on. Does the Plaquenil treat the symptoms, or stop then from progressing, or both? Do you have to get frequent lab work if you're on it?
  15. Hmm, that's interesting. I eat a lot of high oxalate foods too, so that may explain it. Thanks! I should probably start taking a calcium supplement with my D3.
  16. I take sublingual B12 and D3. That really boosted my levels. It doesn't have to go through your digestion. You just put it under your tongue. I buy D3 in liquid drops and B12 lozenges.
  17. Ok, thanks! I can't seem to keep up with what's associated with what anymore. .
  18. One more question I had for you all. . Have you had any kidney stones and do you think they could be associated with Sjogrens? My last xray of my back showed a small, 3mm possible kidney stone. This was pre-sjogrens diagnosis, so now I'm wondering if they're related. It hasn't given me any serious pain. . Yet. .
  19. Thanks Emily! I'll look into it. I've read about it before. I have a cookbook with some AIP friendly recipes.
  20. Yes, my mom suffers a lot of bad side effects from her meds, which scares me a lot. I don't know why docs have her on so many but she is very ill and doesn't take good care of herself (she actually has 3 autoimmunes; lupus, autoimmune hepatitis, hashimotos). I am pretty sure she has celiac as she's had digestive and neurological issues for a very long...
  21. Thank you, Gemini and Hummingbird-Hill. I'm with Gemini on the immunosuppressives. I am scared I'm going to go into the Rhuemy and she'll start pushing these drugs on me. I don't have any pain, except for pain in my hip from SI joint problems and lower back pain from mild degeneration. My jaw also occasionally hurts. I try and control hip and back pain with...
  22. Hi all, I'm having a bad week.. I was recently just diagnosed with yet another autoimmune - Sjogren's syndrome . I'm reaching out to see if anyone else on this forum also has Sjogren's and can share their experiences. My PCP diagnosed it with a blood test (negative SSA antibodies, positive SSB, negative ANA) and referred me to a rheumatologist. Unfortunately...
  23. I have celiac as well as gastritis, gerd and esophagitis. I also have an irregular SC junction, which my GI thought was Barrets but the biopsy came back negative. I also found out I was also lactose intolerant from my last biopsy so I think that may have been contributing to the gerd. My doc put me on PPIs too and they made me feel awful. I now take Zantac...
  24. I'm not sure how expensive he is but Dr Peter Osborne is in Sugar Land. Open Original Shared Link
  25. Sorry!! Just read sdlane's response! I'm on my mobile and can't read that well on it!
