  1. Well, I figured that out on my own that the ones that said wheat had wheat---but what about the wheat proteins and such on the list as "may or may not contain gluten"....why are they on that list and not the unsafe list? Then, as I asked before because it is STILL unclear--some of the natural and artificial flavorings show up on this list----and I was directed...
  2. I DO read labels. I've said that many, many times. Just because some people got sick from those items, doesn't mean they got sick from gluten. The Amy's pizza blog, from 3 years ago...Amy's tests their products "Amy’s has always had strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to avoid cross-contact of our non-gluten products with gluten and we continue t...
  3. The cheese I was talking about had wheat on the label--yes, that is easy--again, still new and if one cheese says gluten-free and one doesn't, I'll buy the gluten-free. If Kraft knows something is gluten-free, they could put it on the label just as easily as another company, yet they choose not to...THAT is the point I am trying to make. I skipped the Jell...
  4. No, these were just spiced up cheeses. I guess you could use them to make a sauce or whatever but they were just flavored cheese.
  5. A high IgA should be sent on for other testing. Your next step would be to see an immunologist and get more testing done to see what is causing your high IgA.
  6. I do read every label--but when something comes up and I don't know what it is, I put it back on the shelf...paranoid, maybe, but like this example, what is it??? So, us newbies coming here, asking for help, getting blasted because we choose a product that says gluten-free vs one that does not because we are new...that's not ok???? Then, if you do research...
  7. Well, I was at the grocery store the other day and was looking at some flavored shredded cheese and wheat was one of the ingredients. I was at Sam's club a few weeks ago and their Sam's brand frozen veges are NOT gluten-free--says so right on the label--they are processed on equipment that processes wheat. It's not as cut and dried as you make it out to...
  8. Ok--case in point--I looked up the ingredients for Kraft Shredded cheese: KRAFT NATURAL CHEESE - SHREDDED CHEESE W/TOUCH OF PHILADELPHIA - TRIPLE CHEDDAR W/TOUCH OF PHILADELPHIA Ingredients: VERMONT WHITE CHEDDAR CHEESE (PASTEURIZED MILK, CHEESE CULTURE, SALT, ENZYMES), SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE (PASTEURIZED MILK, CHEESE CULTURE, SALT, ENZYMES, ANNATTO...
  9. Not all Celiacs are underweight...if they were, I'd be a lot skinnier than I am . I agree, get an appointment with a GI dr that specializes in Celiac disease. Go to Chicago, Mayo Clinic, etc. if you need. The other thing, your total IgA, while still normal, is on the low end of things and that could alter your TT IgA results some.
  10. OK, one more time---the FDA doesn't ALLOW them to put gluten-free on the label if they are NOT......
  11. Most spices are safe, some blends may not be. I can't find the Garlic and Herb but there is a Garlic and Red Pepper on their website and that is fine. Your ground beef could be the culprit if you but it over the counter vs pre-packaged and they grind it in an area where they might be breading meat or whatever. It's possible your rice was the problem. ...
  12. If Kraft is so good, why don't they label items as gluten-free???? I am one of the newbies!!!!! Like I said, there is a lot of hidden gluten in the various products---and no, they don't always say "wheat"....the list is linked on this site. If Kraft was so good, they would put gluten-free on gluten-free items. Don't you see that by not doing this they...
  13. So,,,what is the difference between you putting back an item where you don't know what the label reads or if I do???? But, hey, gluten doesn't hide in those goofy ingredients I've been told, so you can eat whatever you want I guess. Like I said, I eat cheese all the time. I'm having some right now as a matter of fact....but the bag is labeled gluten-free...
  14. When I contacted our mail-order pharmacy about my medications, they said the current batch I had was gluten-free but they could not guarantee in the future that they could provide gluten-free medications and suggested I work with my local pharmacy instead. I contacted 3 local pharmacies and they all said they could order in the brand I needed but I would...
  15. If they are real friends, this should be a non-issue and they will understand that you need to do what you need to do. If not, find new friends.
  16. I am not twisting your words and it isn't just beer in cheese that can make it gluten-free...but whatever....I did not accuse you of gluenting yourself... The law says that if they are labeling something gluten-free it has to be less than 20 PPM...click on the link I provided to the FDA website....it's right there. No they don't have to test if they...
  17. again--back to my comment of contradictory information by the "old timers" that you all love so much...according to the FDA's new laws, gluten-free means gluten-free....so, if the product says gluten-free, it has to test under 20 PPM....or naturally be gluten-free---but then some naturally gluten-free items like frozen veges have gluten in them too...sooooooo...
  18. With numbers that high, not having a scope is pretty common. Head over to the "Coping" page here and read the intro post to get information about cleaning your kitchen, etc. The worst part is reading labels. Grocery shopping takes twice as long. Don't assume something is gluten-free because it's hidden everywhere. There is a thread about that too--stuff...
  19. BBQ ribs and broiled zucchini
  20. The odd thing is, most of their competitors ARE testing. If I have a choice between two products, Kraft and something else, and the something else tests and lists they are gluten-free on the label, I'm buying the something else. I bought some pudding yesterday, yes, the Jell-O (Kraft) was probably ok, but I don't know for sure, so I bought the other brand...
  21. Actually it is helpful to hear. Today was a good day...we will see what happens tomorrow . Knowing that it's not out of the ordinary to appear to be doing well and then have a few weeks of "what in the heck is going on" helps.
  22. I've been very careful about labels or checking company websites if I'm not sure. For the most part, if it's not labeled gluten-free, I don't buy it--unless it's fresh fruit or something obviously gluten-free. I might have to try cutting out coffee---but how do you get caffeine then . I don't drink soda. I do track my food and mostly eat whole food. ...
  23. Ok--hot out of the oven...taste is basically the same as their gluten pre-made dough mix--not as good as homemade but not bad and easy. Just a little gritty but not bad. I only made a couple so they won't make it to the cool stage to see how they are not warm .
  24. Says "contains soy and eggs and may contain milk"...it also has "palm oil"...sorry....
  25. Right--I do have follow-up appointment scheduled--but, if I am doing something wrong or something else is wrong that is causing my issues, that's a long time to wait to figure it out.....I have appointments in Dec. Yes, there is some of that but this is different and doesn't only happen when I drink coffee. At first I thought it was Rice Chex. ...
