  1. 6 weeks is not enough time for your thyroid levels to work out. It can take a year or so of going back and forth with blood draws and adjusting levels, sometimes more. It would be nice if it were a quick fix though. At your next appointment I would ask for the Celiac testing.
  2. I think you need to go back to the doctor and figure out what is causing your bathroom issues.
  3. Have you had any cardiac testing done?
  4. yes it is mostly a lung condition, and as far as I know, not everyone is checked automatically for CF. CF also has a GI component and CF does not always show up at birth.
  5. I could probably dig one up or you can search for immune deficiency and info on the subclasses for IgG. My daughter has this so that is how I know about it. Low IgG subclasses and low IgA is called CVID, Chronic Variable Immune Deficiency.
  6. Along with diabetes, I would test for Cystic Fibrosis as well. It disturbs me that your doctors are not the ones seeking other testing. She is obviously a sick child. SOMETHING is going on.
  7. Thanks. I've heard that the gluten-free cream of soups are not very good so I have not tried them. I'll have to see if I can find either of these.
  8. I will have to stop at Target. I've yet to find the Go Picnic stuff anywhere in my area yet so hopefully they will have them-and on sale!
  9. Ask if they ran your total IgG, including the IgG subclasses. If not, you should have those done too. It's very common if you are low IgA to also be low IgG. If your IgG subclasses are low, it might why your ttIgG level is just barely positive. It would also probably mean that is really higher than that. Low IgG subclass 3 has similar symptoms as Celiac...
  10. If you can toss most of that in the dishwasher, it should be fine. The sippy cups, maybe--but again, if you can wash/rinse them well, they will be fine. Your hand mixer should be fine too. Plastic that is intact is fine, scratched up, probably not. The toaster is obvious--no possible way of cleaning that.
  11. Ok, thanks!!! I'll have to pick this one up!
  12. What are his numbers and which tests did the run? Define "gluten light". You just need to have about a piece of bread a day for the tests to register.
  13. I'm trying to figure out how to make Green Bean Casserole for Thanksgiving too. Anyone find a good substitute for the cream of mushroom soup?? I'm going to make crispy onions somehow, maybe just slow cook them in the oven until crisp?? I could try frying them too. I would think if you cooked the onion rings long enough in the oven they would be pretty...
  14. When you have a low total IgA, your IgA celiac tests are not going to be accurate. Did they measure your overall IgG, including subclasses? Without those numbers, your IgG levels might not be accurate either. I'd be suspect of your overall results as well given you do not have the common celiac genes. There are some people that feel there are other genes...
  15. I was home for a few days and I don't know what my hubs did while I was gone but I spent more time in the bathroom than not. I'm on the road again and my system has settled down. When I'm back home I think I have to start all over and clean the kitchen and such again. I am NOT happy. I know he brought out our old toaster and I had to clean that up but...
  16. Call your doctor and ask for the full Celiac panel. What other blood work did they do? Did they test your thyroid?
  17. 1 in 3 adults are on a gluten-free diet--um, I don't think so. It's quite possible that people's gastric issues are caused by something else, but like Laura said, they are benefiting from a better diet probably. If people do not think Celiac is real, they are welcome to spend time with anyone that has Celiac and see what it's really about.....
  18. The blood tests are very accurate. It was once thought that you had to have a biopsy to confirm but not really any longer. Many dr's still do them though. It is really up to you but with a positive blood test, you have Celiac. Some people like to do the biopsy so they have a baseline to see what damage is there and how they heal over time, but isn't not...
  19. I guess I was getting at does it have "cooking' recipes vs "baking" recipes as well .
  20. Well, I didn't have any problems as a kid. I was rarely sick and pretty much never sick with any stomach issues, no bathroom issues, grew fine, etc. At 48 I was being tested for something else and they tossed on the Celiac tests because I have a niece with Celiac and boom, I have it. Your MIL needs to read real information.
  21. Well, I did read the story, I read it over several sources as a matter of fact and could not figure out what the news was because if you are celiac you wouldn't be eating wheat anyway so I thought maybe there was something else to the story that the reporters just didn't get or understand.
  22. ok-so after how many of these stories--what exactly are they talking about that should maybe be avoided now beside gluten?
  23. Is the America's Test Kitchen mostly bread recipes? Is it worth getting for cookies and other baking if you already have good "Gluten" recipes and just need to substitute flour?
  24. I made Chili yesterday. Shopped at a new grocery store that was mostly "organic" foods. Chili was horrible!! I have to go back to my not organic stuff . The seasonings I bought were bland and just awful. Good thing I made a small batch. I doctored it up some after I tasted it so it's ok but just not the same. Making roast beef and mashed potatoes...
  25. Maybe?? I've tried several brands. Problem here is DH likes to bake. His Pastry Chef Grandmother taught him. I've been spoiled all these years. It's just not the same. In a lot of ways it's good, I don't eat them--nor do I need to eat them . Christmas is going to be hard, very hard!!
