Hey melrobsings, welcome to the girly talk!
-
omgosh Donna you have magical skin! It seems like every shade of foundation works for you!
How awesome!
It's crazy! I have a feeling that they probably don't ALL look as good as I think they do, but at least in my mirror and the mirrors at work, they do. Outside...that may be another story, lol.
I found a new combination that looks great today. Good china all over, snowflakes on the lid and mystic night as a liner. Very hot, if I do say so myself.Yes...very nice colors!!!! You hottie!
Not sure about Saturday delivery for DHL...
-
I've got the no makeup look going on today, lol! I woke up late so had to do a quickie.
Skipped the concealor and finishing dust primer and went straight for the foundation, which today is the new color Golden-Winged Butter. I really like this shade...looks very good and natural on. I think it's a good match for my neck...maybe better than the warm shades I tried. I wish they'd do one more lighter shade in the warm category...I think that would really work for me. I may try mixing golden and warm shades to see what happens.
The other thing is did was use the Summer Silk Dust as a blush...it's almost like a bronzer for me, lol. I don't know what else I can wear it for, so blush is probably all...it's a tiny bit gritty, so probably wouldn't want to put it on my eye area, although the color would be good for shadow.
Glass Bottom Boat is not nearly as bad on as in the jar, lol. In the jar it screams bright light aqua, but on it's a subtle smokey shade...barely any color to speak of on me...just the tiniest hint of greenish blue. I put chamomile on as a base...very pretty and sparkley...looks a little like the sunlight concealor but sheerer and very much more sparkly, lol. Then I used emerald as an eyeliner. I wish this was just the tiniest bit darker green, but it looks good. It's not quite dark enough for my taste as a liner, but it's a nice darker green eye color for those that like green.
I think I've also figured out why none of the eye colors are very pigmented for me...I almost ALWAYS put concealor all over the eye area, from lashes up to the brow, then I put finishing dust all over, then foundation, then a base color (which is usually very light) all over, THEN the color. No wonder the color isn't pigmented...it's mixing with all the lighter base things...sometimes three layers of them, lol. Today I just had a little bit of foundation, and while the colors were still muted, I can at least tell what they are.
I did the same thing once. Express DHL means "we'll bring it when we feel like it".Oh, and you can see my make up too. Fawn foundation, soft touch blush, cozy nights lip gloss, samba lessons eye liner and crease, good china eye base, chamomile on brow bone, pots and pans on lid.GREAT picture!!! You look beautiful!
Yeah for hair nazis, lol. My hairdresser is a very semi hair nazi, lol. She will NOT let me go grey.
She told me as long as she is breathing I MUST keep my hair dyed.
How about a brush??? Since the foundation brush is out of stock for eternity, what makes a good brush?I found this one Open Original Shared Link
That looks like a good one. Do you have a Target nearby (oh wait, I think you're the one that would rather order than go to the store, lol)...anyway, they have a line by some lady...Sonia Kushkuk, or something like that...anyway, the brushes are pretty good...not QUITE as inexpensive as EM, but very soft and she has a lot of different types.
-
I really like it. I don't know how it would work for EM, but it's a great case!
I think I shall take a few hundred
of my EM containers with me to the Sephora store and see how they work.
-
FUN order Stacie!!! I LOVE all those eye shadow colors!
-
Samba Lessons (dark brown with lots of sparkle) good for eyeliner
Comfy (smokey brown)
Countryside
Exhale (medium brown)
Hot Chocolate (very light brown)
Scented Candles (not sure it's exactly brown though)
Um...that's it for me, lol.
-
poo chunks
Yeah, my little ones had a few of those too, always recognizable by the slow walk towards me with lowered head stare
-
Hum, I always used to call the cling-ons (or I guess more accurately, called my dogs) poopie butt...always got the impression that my dogs didn't quite appreciate that as much as I did though.
-
Hi Lore!! Wow, you paid for express and it's not there yet!? Wow. Hoping you get it soon!!
-
I actually usually like the goth look on most people, lol, and I usually like how she does her hair, but this was just distracting to me for some reason.
-
Yeah with the shipping and tax the amazon order would be about five cents or so more than the yazmo order (don't know but Yazmo might have to charge me tax too since I'm in Cal, so then amazon would be cheaper).
Okay, for the curious here links

So for anyone who didn't record or watch the show last night here is a picture (hopefully) of the group of ladies...Amanda is unmistakable (but in the middle, just in case, lol):

I am crazy about David Archuleta, along with the rest of America I'm sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he won. I really like Carly too, she's my favorite girl at this point. There are a few others I like, but none so much as those two. They're really awesome.
About Amanda's hair, did anyone else think she looked a bit like Cruella DeVille from 101 Dalmations??? lol
I agree about David Archuleta and Carly...
OMGOSH!! That's it...I kept trying to think of what her hair reminded me of...that's it, lol. All I could think of was SUNBURST, lol!!!
-
OMGosh...what a stinking dilemma!
I can't decide if I should get:
The Sephora Pink train case,
Pros: removable and infininately configurable dividers (can satisfy my most obsessive organizational tendencies, WHICH by the way only seems to apply to makeup, lol), very spacious, local (i.e., no waiting time, lol)
Cons: may be bigger than I need, expensive
OR
The pink train case that Paula got,
Pros: Very cute, removable drawers, space for brushes on the "doors", the right price, now available at Amazon, not to big
Cons: has to be shipped, might outgrow it sooner (maybe ALREADY outgrown and I don't have it yet, lol), not configurable
SEE, what a dilemma
Sorry folks...I'm needing frivolity in my life right now and you all are the recipients of my endless distractions
-
So, what'd everyone think of the girls. Again I only saw the first hour last night, so only the first 5 girls. I thought they were mostly good...just a few pitch problems here and there. Most of these girls and guys have just amazing voices.
I was most disappointed in Amanda...I didn't think she did as well as she could have. I love her individuality, but I sort of had to agree with Simon last night...her hair was a bit distracting, lol.
I closed my eyes so I could just focus on the vocals and unfortunately she had some rough spots.
I thought I had set my recorder to record the last half of the guys the other night, but apparently I didn't, lol. I DID record the women last night so, I'll watch that later before the results show.

Okay, so today's picks: Autumn Afternoon and rare silk eye colors (love both) and samba lessons as a liner.
Plum dust blush...very nice color, but very pigmented, lol. Didn't need much.
Foundation today was Warm-Buttered Tan. This is a MUCH better match than the Medium Beige that I wore yesterday. This matches my neck almost perfectly (so far, lol). I actually think this may be lighter than Medium Beige even though it's listed after it.
Oh, and I took pictures of my newly color coded stuff. I had to take some stuff out though so I could actually lay the containers flat. Also included pictures of the the mini train case I bought a few weeks ago...note the size in relation to the pen next to it, lol:

Hello Stacie...welcome to the colorful side!
As far as mascara...EM is supposed to be coming out with one, but they don't have one yet. Some people here use Ecco Bella (available at health food stores I think). I haven't found any locally yet, but must admit I haven't looked that hard. So I use a drugstore brand currently (Lash Blast), which is probably NOT at all good for us, lol.
As far as cleansers go, I take it off with Cetaphil lotion. A side note here: I stopped using Cetaphil for a long time because I didn't think it cleansed well...I'd use it to take off my BE makeup and I'd always have foundation left on my face. I haven't had that problem at all with EM...all traces come off with the Cetaphil! I DO follow that up with an acne scrub (as I did with BE, and still I'd have traces of foundation left on my face when I used my toner).
I haven't tried Afterglow, so can't give a comparison there....I used Bare Escentuals for a long time and I can say that this is every bit as good quality wise--maybe better--and it is much less expensive and much more natural.
Wow, color...I'm so bad at suggesting colors. You almost sound buff, beige or golden. The nice thing about this make up is that a lot of times you will fit into more than one category. So far, I have SIX categories that look good on me. My problem now is trying to decide which one is best, lol. I am technically SUPPOSED to be olive complexion...I have Italian and Hispanic blood...but also have Polish and Dutch, so I've got very fair skin. So far either the lightest or second lightest shades in the Olive, Buff, Beige, Golden, Cool and Warm categories look good on me. My face tends to be darker/redder than my neck, so I have to go pretty light on my foundation to look good.
-
Congratulations!!!! I wondered what had happened to you (and a few of the other regulars from around when I first joined).
-
I didn't get to watch the whole thing, but I liked that guy, Bobbie...don't like to watch him, but from what I saw I liked his performance best. I turned off the TV around 8:35 though, so missed a bunch. I've got the last hour recorded, so I'll watch that later.
-
Okay, new order is all labeled and color coded.
Phew!
Today I've got on Warm-Medium Beige. It may be slightly too dark to match my neck, but sheesh, matched my face exactly just no red.
It looks pretty good though.
New colors for eyes: Scented Candles and Countryside.
 Okay, LOVE both of them. I put Scented candles all over, then a little Countryside at the lash line and up into the crease, then put a little more Countryside as a liner. Very nice!
Blush: Once and Again. Like this very much too. I actually haven't found too many blushes I don't like, so I think maybe I'm done with buying blush...seems like I have a plethora of good shades already.
If I do get any more shades it will just be the little mini sizes, just to try them or just to have the color on hand just in case.
Lips: Well, so far I like Siesta better than any of the other lip colors I've tried, but none of them show up on me...this one was VERY orange when I tried it on my arm yesterday, but this morning when I put it on my lips, it barely showed. It made my lips very light...almost like a primer might, but not much color. Spring Pink also does that...the other two Cherry Fizz and Cozy Night just don't show at all...they are so close to my natural color that they just don't show, and there's no shine to them. So, I'm a little undecided if I want to try any more colors...wish they had a little tiny sample of the lip colors too!
Those familiar with MUA, how accurate are the ratings? They rate the EM brushes low, or at least the Baby Kabuki, I think they give it about a 45%. Don't quote me on that though (I need to go recheck).
I usually take ratings with a grain of salt however, because something that one loves and raves about another may not like, or vice versa.
I take them into consideration, but I often find myself liking what other people don't, lol. That seems to work with a lot of things...not just makeup.
(It also says I purchased three pounds of make-up - um that's a lot of minerals)
Wow, I thought MY orders were bad!!!
This is why you are our cult leader!

am I the ONLY person who abhors and doesn't remotely comprehend the appeal of Neil Diamond?????????????? help me.........
Nope, not the only one.
-
Okay, I'm SCARED of Summer Silk Dust...DARK, lol. I have a feeling that it will look much better on than in the jar, lol.
Mojave Camping is VERY pretting in the jar...but also looks a bit scarey.
My foundations MAY be too dark...we'll see.
Angled blush brush...very nice...not as big as the one I'm using (which is a good thing).
Glass bottom boat...pretty...probably won't wear it though.
Okay, the rest I'll review when trying them, lol.

WOOHOO, mail room guy just handed me, no kidding...just as I hit reply here...MY BOX!!!
He jumped back a bit as I leapt from my chair and yelled with gleee "YAY, THANK YOU", snatching said box from his hands.
Today i put sunlight under my eyes and on some red spots were i mostly put mint, then i put 2 layers of medium beige on wet, then i also do one small layer of it dry if i use wet foundation. Then on cheeks i put on plum dust, not alot since it is very plummy lol. Then on my eyes i put floating feathers all over then in the crease i put oasis(love that color) then on bottom put on suset voyage and then baby bath on top, then for liner i used samba. Then when i was done i put on the finishing dust powder and put on my siesta lip gloss and then i put on some tight black jeans on and a cute little sexy shirt, and now im thinking were i need to go, i cant just sit here looking this good lmaoHey, we're non-identical twins...well except for the tight black jeans... well mine are tight, but not for the right reasons and they're brown not black.
Oh, wait, where was I, oh yes, semi-twins. I'm wearing floating feathers all over the eye, then sunset voyage.
I USUALLY use Samba Lessons as my liner (it's my favorite, lol), but today decided to use In The Garden.
I think we all need cute little pink handbags to carry our brishes around in. Kind of like the starlets in Hollywood with their little lunatic dogs.Um, would it surprise anyone terribly if I said that I already have 2 cute little pink handbags that might suffice.
Wow - that's a lot of colors. I think I will even have all of those when my order comes. I am excited for (but a little scared of) Oasis. I hear so many good things about it, bt don't want to look like I am starring in Goldfinger. Time will tell.....You'll be safe with Oasis. Unless you put it on wet, it is pretty subtle.
-
Woohooo! My order is out with the delivery courier! I know you all hate DHL, but I just ordered Thursday night, lol. Now, the only question is...will it be delivered before I leave and will I have to hunt down the mail room guy.
-
Lori, reading your story just broke my heart. There are just so many people who suffer so long without finding answers.
It sounds like you at least have a couple of good practitioners now. Many of us have tried some of the energetic and/or muscle testing and it's been very accurate for us. That is what found lyme for me...I later had that confirmed with a blood test by a doctor who specializes in lyme and other hard to diagnose issues.
I'm not saying you have lyme, but after years of searching for answers I FINALLY found a doctor who was willing to listen to me and who tested me for a bunch of things. Turns out I have metals toxicity, mold toxicity, lyme and a host of other things. I think everyone on this thread can relate to your post.
So basically, I just want to give a little bit of encouragement!

Dang, busted by the emoticon police!!!!

Good news. My mom said my face matched my neck!!!!
Today's foundation was Golden-Fair...I've worn that before but not in intensive. My spreadsheet tells me that I thought Golden Fair Matte was a little light, so I guess formulation can alter the color slightly because it was not too light.
My aunt didn't even know I was wearing makeup (not sure how she missed the blush (story below, lol), wonder if her being 71 has anything to do with it, lol). She DID notice and like my lip gloss (not EM) though.
So, I've decided to NOT get the Sephora train case. I went in today to look at it again with the intention of buying it, but when I got there it was just huge. Much more huge than I remember, lol. So I think I'm going to pare down what I have in my "everyday" case somehow and go for cute. So I'm going to order the smaller cuter case like Paula's.
I DID buy more lip gloss and some nail polish.
It's spring weather here today and my toes are freshly painted.
Next up...decals on my toes.
Okay, for todays color reviews:
Mojave Camping: Um, WOW. Very, very pigmented, lol. It's a very nice red, but very pigmented so be careful out there. Blush responsibly folks.
It looked great once I put a dusting of finishing powder over.
New eye colors: Swing Set...just what the heck color is this anyway, lol. I can't tell. It's nice on, but I don't think it quite went with my next color.
Morocco...very nice and smokey...kind of a dark wine. I liked it. Again, wasn't quite dark enough for a liner for me, but after putting near the lashes and up into the crease, I added some Samba Lessons to it for a liner.
Woo hoo!!! That's exciting for sure!
