  1. Hi, Just wondering which of you stay completely away from products that were made in an environment with wheat (or any gluten for that matter), and which of you don't count that as being a possible risk for contamination. I finally got a reply back from Atkins, by phone stating that their protein bars (most of them) are gluten free, but she said that...
  2. I don't mean to be a brat, but has no one had these? I'm craving chocolate and I'm scared to just go by a gluten free list because I did that a few days ago and got glutened. I don't mean to be pushy....... but just a yes or no?
  3. Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if any of you have ever had, or have them regularly (Atkins Advantage Bars). On the delphi list, they say they are gluten free, but there is no phone number, and there is also number on their website. So, anything you know about these would be helpful because I would like to add them to my diet. I looked at the...
  4. I've gotten exactly that too! Right after I had some ham with bourbon in it (when I first went gluten-free, I thought that bourbon was just corn derived, later I found out it ALWAYS has rye and barley in it as well!) that was the first symptom I got. It lasted only a couple of days, but I also had a million other symptoms from this 'glutening.' But that was...
  5. What about Atkins protein bars? Those are supposed to be gluten free too, am I right? I hope so because I just had one! Oh and Balance energy bars, are NOT gluten free. They don't list gluten in the ingredients, but it clearly states that they use the same machinery to produce products containing wheat. I actually got glutened from them a couple of days...
  6. Congrats! And I mean it! I know EXACTLY how you feel! The same exact thing happened to me! I went to a million doctors, had negative blood tests, inconclusive biopsy, VERY POSITIVE DIET CHANGE and then I went to Dr. Green (the famous Columbia University Hospital Celiac Doctor) and he tested my genes, and finally, I got a confirmation of what I had suspected...
  7. Thank you Patti! That's so sweet!
  8. I'm so sorry, but if you're still checking this, could you please send me another list? My fiance accidently threw out the one that I printed before, and I deleted it from my e-mail. I'm really sorry and really appreciate your help! Danikali22@hotmail.com is my e-mail address. Thanks again celiac3270!
  9. Okay, thanks guys! Good to know I"m not crazy! I'm actually feeling better today. The muscle pains were sooo bad yesterday! I've also noticed that the pains go away within a day or two and before I was gluten free, it would last no less than a week, it was horrible. I would get one little leg cramp and knew it would get worse and worse for about a week and...
  10. Oh okay Stefi, I hope you're right! hhaha or otherwise, I'm gonna be a whale someday! hahaha.
  11. I don't understand when they say that you should eat the equivilance to the size of your fist. I'm not looking to loose weight, but I've never understood that. Today, a snack I had was a big granny smith apple and a big banana. So that was a bad portion size? My fist is pretty small. Really small actually. I couldn't imagine having my meal sizes that small...
  12. Thanks to both of you! Well, I know that I don't have a cold or anything because it just doesn't feel like one. It's the way I used to get A LOT when I was eating gluten a lot. But thanks for telling me that's it's a little bit different everytime for you guys too. I was doing so well for so long too! I haven't had this long of a streak before with feeling...
  13. Okay, if anyone is confused about my topic, does anybody know this answer: Can you get varied symptoms when you are glutened. For example: Glutened once: GI troubles Second time glutened: No GI, but tired and cranky Third time: Knee pains and gas, nothing else Fourth time: Muscle aches, all over body, throat ache nothing else Fifth time: just...
  14. Hi, it's me again, I know, for the third time today! Anyway, I was wondering, I am almost positive that I got glutened by CC of a few balance bars. When I was undiagnosed, and on what I thought a gluten free diet(I was constantly getting sick still and not knowing why- then I learned about cross contamination and hidden gluten), I would get sick about once...
  15. Hi, I have a question regarding that purell hand sanitizer. I'm such a freak about my hands being clean these days and cross contamination because once I ate an apple and had the 'bad gas' (sorry) that I get right after eating gluten. Of course, I didn't rinse the apple off before eating it because I was nowhere near a faughcet, but now I know just how delicate...
  16. Actually, I have been keeping a diary, a very detailed one actually. And I've been feeling soooooooooooooooo amazing, and making note of it! But then Sunday (when I ate those Balance bars for the first time) things came back and then when I ate them a second day, things came back with a vengence. So I know what my culprit is. But I'm glad to hear that dairy...
  17. Yeah, that's what I thought. Lactose intolerance isn't going to mess up your whole system, right? It's just annoying but not as dangerous as Celiac, right? I don't think that I have a problem with dairy. I'm like 99% sure that I don't, but just a question......can dairy cause severe muscle pains like the ones that I'm having right now? I feel like someone...
  18. Yeah Patti, I think you're right. For example, a lot of us in the first years of our lives didn't know anything about Celiac because we had no or very small, miniscule, symptoms. But the damage on the inside was still being done. So this doctor is saying, you won't feel bad, but in the meantime, your body starts to get off balance, regardless. So therefore...
  19. Yeah, I should from now on. This isn't worth it. I mean, I know it can't be the dairy in it because I can drink milk and be okay and I've added a plain chocolate hersheys bar into my diet almost everyday last week. So, it has to be from CC. I wrote the Balance Bar Company and e-mail just to see what they say about how high the risk is for CC on the product...
  20. Actually, he said 'eventually when my system gets back to normal.' Sorry I left that out. Are there any of you out there who 'cheat' sometimes, after being gluten-free for a long long time?
  21. Well, from one of the mainstream product lists that I reccently downloaded, it said that chocolate balance bars are gluten free. So, my fiance ran out and got me a bunch of them. Of course, I was enjoying them so much, knowing that they are packed with vitamans and gluten free, not to mention soooooooo chocolatey. (It's that time of month, too! Sorry, haha...
  22. Well everyone, my family is finally getting tested for Celiac Disease....well, the people that have symptoms anyway. So, this doctor that they are seeing is supposed to be pretty knowledgable on Celiac. But my Dad told me something interesting that came right from the doctor. He said that eventually, I could cheat once in a while, especially with the help...
  23. Thank you! I just need caffine sometimes, and I can't handle any kind of coffee. It really really upsets my stomach......
  24. Thanks for the good coke info.....i had one yesterday and had problems! so today im trying the pepsi to see if its different........is pepsi okay??
  25. Well, I just got a diet cherry Pepsi and I was wondering if even flavored soda is gluten free. I couldn't find it anywhere, so before I drink it, I would just like a quick 'okay!' Thank you!
