I HAD sleep apnea. I don't have problems with it anymore as long as my vitamin D is in the eighties at least. When I first had problems with sleep apnea, my vitamin D was very low. My old doctor prescribed synthetic Vitamin D 2 (big pharma's synthetic form that the body can't use well). I had an aversion to those. Can't explain why, but I just dreaded...

My advice is to go ahead and have the endoscopy without doing a gluten challenge. Sure, you've started healing, but as we age, some of us can take longer to heal completely. Sometimes as long as eighteen months to two years. At least you'll be able to get a starting point from which to measure future progress. And it's also important to check... -
Hello! I've found that passion flower extract helps me sleep, especially after being glutened because it is also an anti-inflammatory. It helps one relax and get good deep restorative sleep. Hello! Have you been tested for diabetes? Has your doctor tested your blood glucose level at your appointments? Getting sleepy after meals til you feel like you're fainting and being fatigued all day may be signs that your blood sugar levels are too high. In other posts, Cycling Lady has suggested getting a blood glucose meter (inexpensive...

Hi! Welcome to the forum! Found some scientific research that says some grey hair is caused by low ferritin (iron), vitamin B12, folate, and copper. Deficiencies of other vitamins and minerals might play a part, too. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Celiac Disease causes malabsorption...

Have you been checked for Gall bladder problems? B Complex vitamin deficiencies? Pernicious Anemia? Magnesium deficiency? Keep a food/poop journal in order to see if there are any connections between input and output. Don't eat processed gluten free foods for a while. Don't eat in restaurants. Cut out dairy and nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes... -

Yes! I've noticed their eyes, too! When I get glutened badly, my herpes simplex one (cold sore) virus acts up. The virus is in the nerves on one side of my face where I originally got the cold sore. The reactivation of the virus causes Bell's palsy. The Bell's palsy causes my eye lid and mouth to droop (I have a crooked, one-sided smile) and I have...

Ravenwoodglass, I've wondered the same thing about misdiagnosed B12 deficiency. I believe I was presenting with psychiatric problems because of B12 deficiency, but dismissed as a depressed hypochondriac because my blood work didn't show the "usual" drastic signs of anemia. Here are some interesting articles... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih...

Ravenwoodglass, I'm having trouble finding the study that tells about the B12 intrinsic factor and gabapentin. I apologize, I'm usually so good to bookmark my references. But here are some reports that tell about antiepileptics and B12 deficiency. (Gabapentin is an antiepileptic drug.) Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link ...

Tina, Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is used as part of the anesthesia given during surgery. The nitrogen in the nitrous oxide binds irreversibly with the cobalt in Vitamin B12 (cobalamin). This will use up any B12 stores you have. B12 deficiency results in nerve damage. People with dermatitis herpetiformis have low B12 levels. Gabapentin...

Get your B12 level tested. B12 deficiency will cause your body to make more cholesterol. Here's an article from National Institute of Health https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4356060/ B12 deficiency is common in Celiac Disease, and B12 deficiency can cause gastrointestinal symptoms, but there are other reasons for a B12 deficiency besides...

It could be Eosinophilic esophagus which is associated with allergies and can also occur with Celiac Disease but not caused by Celiac Disease. Perhaps an Ear, Nose &Throat doctor can help you with a diagnosis.
-
I agree with Cycling Lady. You could have Celiac Disease and need to have the complete panel done. Celiac Disease causes malabsorption which results in vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Celiacs often develop B12 deficiency and anemia, but there are other signs of B12 deficiency before the anemia shows up. Canker sores can be caused by vitamin...

Looking for opinions/advice
knitty kitty replied to maxwell-jay's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Maxwell, Hi! Welcome to the forum. Hope we can help though we're not doctors, but we have lots of personal experience. I believe your GP (general practitioner) can order the Celiac Panel tests that Tessa listed. If there are any positives, you can then go to a gastroenterologist for endoscopy and colonoscopy where samples can be taken and examined... -

Stargazer1111, Hi! I had this happen to me, the glucose dropping drastically after eating gluten/corn containing meals. My doctor was less than helpful. Eye socket pain with celiac flare ups
knitty kitty replied to Elie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Definitely wise to get retested! You may also want to be tested for vitamin deficiencies, especially the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of nutrients, especially fats, like omega three's and vitamins A and D. The eight B vitamins may also be poorly absorbed. Riboflavin is one B vitamin that is needed for eye health... -
Eye socket pain with celiac flare ups

It could be Sjogren's syndrome. Tear glands and salivary glands get attacked by those antibodies that go on the rampage after exposure to gluten. The tear glands and salivary glands can't do their jobs resulting in dry swollen eyes, dry sinuses, dry mouth, migraines, and high blood pressure. An ophthalmologist can do a Schirmer's test which measures... -
