  1. Hello, @Hiawatha, This article explores how EOE may be connected to a thiamine insufficiency.... http://www.hormonesmatter.com/eosinophilic-esophagitis-sugar-thiamine-sensitive/
  2. I can't tolerate phenylalanine which results in tyramine excess. I avoid tyramine foods, too. So don't take Tryptophan. Take the Benfotiamine and Theanine.
  3. Hi, @lydialoo, How long have you been taking the oregano oil, ginger, and garlic? Oregano oil has the side effects of nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal symptoms when too much is taken. Ginger has side effects of mouth and throat irritation, stomach upset, and diarrhea. Garlic can cause heartburn, gas, and diarrhea. You would...
  4. This study found that some Celiacs on a gluten free diet have fluctuating tTg IgA levels, and some have decreasing levels. Riboflavin Vitamin B2 is as important in correcting iron deficiency anemia as B12, Pyridoxine B6, and Folate B9. Riboflavin intake and status and relationship to anemia https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3601876...
  5. @hayley3, I've tried that brand, but didn't like it. It's got whole rice flour listed as an ingredient, including the rice bran. Mine smelled like the bran had gone rancid. I couldn't eat iceberg lettuce without a lot of gastrointestinal distress. I switched to Romaine lettuce. Romaine is a veggie that has thiamine! When I was down...
  6. Blood tests are NOT accurate in measuring deficiencies. Blood is a transport system! Blood levels of vitamins can reflect how much and which vitamins you absorbed from dinner yesterday. Blood levels have little to do with the amount of vitamins inside cells of the body where vitamins are actually utilized for cellular and organ functions. The...
  7. Correcting vitamin and mineral deficiencies is very important. Hypothyroidism Complicated by Vitamin C and Thiamin Deficiency in Surgical Patients https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37278003/
  8. @Kwx525, One of my doctors excused my brain fog as a type of migraine. Not 100% scientifically and technically accurate, but more acceptable to the uneducated masses and doctors clueless about Celiac. Do consider supplementing with vitamins and minerals. Subclinical deficiencies in Thiamine B1 Pyridoxine B 6, and B12 Cobalamine can help clear...
  9. I wrap half of the loaf in waxed paper, put it in a freezer safe plastic zip lock bag, and chuck it in the freezer. The rest of the loaf or several slices, I wrap in waxed paper and store in original packaging or another zip lock bag in the fridge. I can't eat a whole loaf before it goes moldy.
  10. That's sad the VA has no nutritionists available. I like the brand Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex, also available from there. Yes, there are some vitamins that are smelly due to the sulfur content in a few of them. I take mine as I sit down to a meal. With food behind it, there's less burping. Are you taking Vitamin D 3? Vitamin...
  11. @emma1semrad, I've experienced the same things, the anxiety, panic attacks being in public, and more. (Visit my blog for more of my story.) My doctors put me on antidepressants, but they only made everything worse. Antidepressants can worsen the inflammation and damage in the small intestine. What worked better was to correct nutritional...
  12. I like to keep my Vitamin D level above 80 because at that level Vitamin D can act like a hormone and regulate the immune system better and reduce inflammation. Have you considered supplementing the eight essential B vitamins? These are important because our body cannot make them, so we need to get them every day from our diet. Since malabsorption...
  13. No, I've never stopped breathing. I don't have asthma. I'm a lifelong Celiac. My symptoms when exposed are throat tightening, difficulty breathing, feeling faint. Feels like I'm drowning, can't get enough air even if forcefully inhaling. It's scary, I agree. I can react to airborne gluten while walking past the bakery aisle at the grocery store...
  14. Welcome to the forum, Sounds like you may be having an allergic reaction to wheat. Some people can have a wheat allergy as well as Celiac Disease, producing swollen tongue and esophagus, and difficulty breathing. After gluten exposure, I got gluten ataxia, panic disorder, vertigo, pins and needles (parathesia), loss of speech and hearing. I...
  15. @hayley3, Didn't your doctor recommend supplementing Vitamin D in order to correct your very low Vitamin D level? Low Vitamin D can cause an increased risk of fractures and falls. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to osteoporosis, muscle weakness and parathesia. Low Vitamin D is also associated with anemia and infertility. Vitamin D is instrumental...
  16. It can take months to years of exposure to gluten (or casein) for the villi damage to become observable with the eye. Most of the early damage is microscopic. Were biopsy samples taken during your most recent endoscopy? There is a food additive, Microbial Transglutaminase, that can elicit the same tTg response. Microbial Transglutaminase is...
  17. @nattaliec, Has your daughter been eating lots of gluten free processed foods? A diet high in carbohydrates (and low in nutritional value) can result in Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth which will cause gas (wind), diarrhea, and bloating. The anemia and fatigue can be helped with vitamin and mineral supplements. Has your daughter been...
  18. @Gilly M, Have you discussed with your doctor the possibility of Celiac Disease? Lactose intolerance? SIBO? Malnutrition from malabsorption? Your stools may be resulting in malabsorption of nutrients because you may not be digesting and absorbing your food properly. Especially if you have had improvement while taking thiamine and B Complex...
  19. Thiamine helps balance your electrolytes. How did you arrive at the conclusion you have electrolyte imbalance? Were you diagnosed by a doctor? Thiamine improves electrolyte imbalances. Insomnia, muscle twitching, muscle tension and tremors, and air hunger are neurological symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Heavy periods are a symptom of Thiamine...
  20. Hi, @Gilly M, I'm sorry to hear you're still having problems. Have you ever had a genetic test for Celiac Disease? I'm concerned that you are still having "oxalate dumping". How does your "oxalate dumping" differ from sandy or grainy diarrhea? Have you been diagnosed with kidney stones? Gout? Have you tried removing dairy from your...
  21. Welcome to the forum, @Wendy226, Yes, your doctor should have been aware that Celiac Disease is genetic. After diagnosing your daughter with Celiac, all her first degree relatives (like her mom) should have been tested for Celiac as well. You've got a genetic combination common in Celiac Disease. Many of us have struggled with symptoms...
  22. @Karinosa, Sure, I'm a big fan of scientific sources.... Mucosal reactivity to cow's milk protein in coeliac disease https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1810502/ And... Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies not related to gluten intake https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29555204/
  23. More information.... Damage to the small intestine (villus atrophy) results in malabsorption of essential vitamins and minerals. B vitamins cannot be made by the human body. We must get sufficient B vitamins from our diet every day because B vitamins cannot be stored. Unfortunately, the gluten free diet can be low in essential nutrients, especially...
