You're in good company Guest! My doctors laughed at me when I suggested Celiac Disease. When I was suffering from nutritional deficiencies, instead of diagnosing life-threatening Pellagra and Wernicke's Encephalopathy, they said I was crazy and sent me away. Can you visit the doctor that diagnosed your friend? Have you had an at home genetic...

Celiac Sprue, Or Latex Allergy?
knitty kitty replied to michelleL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I chose to make dietary and environmental changes. I follow a low histamine Paleo diet. I take Benfotiamine B 1, Pyridoxine B 6, and B12 Cobalamine because they make an enzyme Diamine Oxidase that breaks down histamine. DAO, Betaine Hydrochloride, and Niacin are available as nutritional supplements. Betaine Hydrochloride helps to breakdown histamine... -
Welcome to the forum, @mack4m! Dairy can cause the same autoimmune response as gluten does in about half of us. Dairy is also high in Iodine. Removing dairy from the diet may be helpful. High histamine levels, which are part of the immune response to gluten and dairy, can cause eczema and hives. Other food sensitivities (IgE responses) can develop...

@Nitsa, welcome to the forum! You may feel better taking Betaine Hydrochloride or DAO (Diamine Oxidase) supplements, both are digestive enzymes. With digestive enzyme supplements, food gets digested better. Poorly digested carbohydrates, like your gluten free rice, get digested by intestinal bacteria with gas and bloating as a result. You...

@DebJ14, That's great that the second doctor took your son off the Ppi! We need Thiamine and Niacin Vitamin B 3 to make stomach acid. Is your son taking a B Complex in addition? A B Complex will contain Niacin and Pyridoxine B 6. Pyridoxine is needed to make Diamine Oxidase, DAO, another digestive enzyme our bodies make that helps lower histamine...

@birdboyden, Hello. What a concerning situation! I've had gallbladder problems before my Celiac diagnosis. Problems with my gallbladder were caused by nutritional deficiencies. Malabsorption affects all the vitamins and minerals we need. Damage to the lining of the small intestine caused by the autoimmune response in Celiac can result...

Not to worry, I simply like to add in references for future readers. Vaccinations and so many things can cause Thiamine deficiency disorders. I find it fascinating how insufficient Thiamine can affect the mitochondria. Without Thiamine, our mitochondria don't function properly, affecting different organs, and causing all sorts of diseases. The...

@Vicrob, It doesn't really matter what sort of immunization or inoculation it is. Thiamine helps recover from it. Read more here... https://www.hormonesmatter.com/vaccination-stressor/

@Linda68, Good to hear from you! I looked at the ingredients of Jarrow B-Right Optimized B-Complex. The form of Thiamine it contains is Thiamine Mononitrate. Thiamine Mononitrate is not a form of Thiamine that the body can utilize well. Our body doesn't absorb much of it, and what is absorbed has to undergo chemical changes in order to...

Yes, you should try eliminating dairy for a while and see if you feel better. Some people develop lactose intolerance while others begin to react to casein, the protein in dairy.
-
@gffoodie, Dairy can cause the same antibody production reaction as gluten. A segment of casein, the protein in dairy, is the same as a segment in gluten. It's called molecular mimicry. About half of people with Celiac react to dairy the same as to gluten. Try dairy free and see if symptoms improve. Yes, it is trial and error,...

Excellent! I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear how you feel with Benfotiamine!

Hello, @Karinosa, Are you consuming dairy? Half of all Celiacs react the same to dairy as they would to gluten. Try cutting out dairy and see if things improve. Have you been checked for vitamin and mineral deficiencies? POTS, MCAS, gastroparesis, alopecia, sleep apnea, and autoimmune diseases are associated with Thiamine deficiency...

I would love to "transporter" you some like on Star Trek... P.S. divide your dose into 300 - 500 mg doses throughout the day with meals or snacks.

Egads! No wonder! Thiamine Mononitrate is NOT a good type of Thiamine to use. The body has difficulty absorbing it and it's hard for the body to utilize. Thiamine mononitrate is used in supplements and processed foods because it is shelf stable, it won't break down while sitting on a shelf in the grocery store, and of minimum cost. The body...

@Vicrob, Infuriating! It's Thiamine deficiency outside of alcoholism! Doctors think inside the box! Same thing happened to me. I kept getting questioned about alcoholism and mental health. I'm so sorry you've been put through this. I understand and commiserate with you. {{{Hugs}}} Which vitamins and minerals and any supplements are you taking...

Welcome to the forum, @Sparkles01! Those symptoms, loss of appetite, nausea and insomnia, were symptoms I've had. My symptoms were caused by malabsorption due to CeD damage in the small intestine which resulted in vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Anorexia (loss of appetite) is a symptom of a Thiamine deficiency disorder. Thiamine Vitamin B 1...

Celiac Sprue, Or Latex Allergy?

@Dionysus, Histamine Intolerance could be what you are experiencing. You would do well to focus on getting the essential vitamins and minerals needed for healing. We can lose our ability to absorb sufficient nutrients when our bodies are inflamed. Many of the essential vitamins and minerals we need will help reduce inflammation. Vitamin... -
@Matt13, A lot of newbies simply change out their gluten containing foods for gluten free versions. Gluten free facsimile foods are not required to be enriched or fortified with vitamins and minerals like gluten containing products. So, you need to buy your own vitamins and minerals now. IBS, as well as Celiac Disease, can affect absorption...
