  1. This is from my Website, so it is a little old...and says some things that you guys already know, but it is faster than typing out the whole thing! I have been gluten-free for a year now!!! Thank you Guys for all of your help!~TiffJake I (Tiffany) was diagnosed with Celiac disease in December 2005. This is a genetic autoimmune disease that affects the...
  2. That is so great!!!! Thanks G! I actually ate at a Longhorn Steakhouse a couple of weeks ago. I had NO IDEA what I could have. I took my own dressing..... I talked to the manager and she was GREAT and I got a steak and potato and it was REALLY good steak!
  3. The sugar free foods often contain sugar alcohols (different, more sweet than sweet n low or equal) that VERY OFTEN give people diarrhea. Check the label for sorbitol, or manitol. Sugar alcohol usually end in -lol. If you check certian foods, like Atkins Diet Bars that contain sugar alcohols, you will see a warning to avoid comsuming too many, because...
  4. I get the Jello No Bake Cheese cake and just throw away the crust mix. You just add milk. I pour it into the aluminum baking cups (makes about 15) and chill them and then eat out of the cup with a spoon. I also made them for dessert for Thanksgiving dinner and topped them with Cherry Pie filling.
  5. Guhlia-did you get it without the bleu cheese? Their menu says that the bleu cheese dressing is NOT gluten-free! I eat at Outback all the time. I used to get sick everytime I had a ceaser salad (but not with house salads with ranch). I called the corp office and found out that there were other things in the ceaser dressing that I was intolerant to (anchovies...
  6. (ps- emcmaster, the wedding dress is beautiful!)
  7. Bone Fish Grill is also in the Outback Family. They have a shrimp app that is really great. They have a gluten-free menu that is pretty good.
  8. I have a can of Bruces Yams. the ingredient list says Sweet potatoes, water, corn syrup, and sugar. Looks ok to me. I got them at walmart.
  9. That is totally cool that you are looking up things for your frat bro! Ditto Carla. Alot of the work will be looking up gluten-free menu's online, and then talking to the staff at the place. It is so cool that you are understanding of your buddy. I am sure he really appreciates your help!
  10. Yeah, I am "allergic" to that stuff. I never had an allergy panel for it, but GOD do I *know* that I can't use it. Ok, any more would be WAY TOO MUCH INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Hey girl, just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you. Hope your appt tomorrow goes well and you get lots of info! Talk to you later, Tiff
  12. Thats the one I got in the first place that showed me gluten problems. VERY impressed with them.
  13. Hey Ursla! Glad you are finding some answers! I did the iodine patch test, and mine was gone in 20 hours (maybe faster, I forgot to look at it....oops...but I did take pics to show a doc). I got a referral for a endo, but the wait is 2 months at the nearest doc (30 min away). CarlaB, I am thinking about using that supplement that you were talking...
  14. I would, but in the States, they can't prescribe meds, draw blood, or do anything involving "medicine" without a medical lisence. (The only reason I know this for sure is because I was going to go to Naturopathic Medicine School! And decided against it because there are only 4 schools that are "in-house" and the online-mail-type schools are under investigation...
  15. I didn't mean to hijack your thread Ursula, in fact, thank you for this discussion! I made an appointment with my primary doc so I can get a referral to a endo. Thanks for the insight! Tiff
  16. This is so frustrating! I can't find a doctor that will see me without a thyroid diagnosis. They don't want to do the work, they just want to give out meds. And my doc is stumped ("Oh, uh, I don't know, Hm, maybe your should see a specialist"). I hate doctors.
  17. I freaking love this show! I think it is too ironic that the "time-bender" is named "Hiro"! Great show, can't wait to own the season and watch them over and over and catch little things....

  19. I have all of my test copies (I keep copies of all of that stuff) and I went back through it after reading everyone's responses. I have low "ALT" on EVERY test. I looked that up online and it is liver function. NO ONE EVER MENTIONED THAT! I will be calling an ednocronoligist tomorrow. Thanks everyone. (Thanks georgie too, for your abundance of info!) ...
  20. Well I had three different docs run a total of 6 thyroid tests over the last year. One look severely hypo, so they ran the others (the first one was the only "off" one). Should I go to a FOURTH doc for more tests???? Feels like pushing it to me.....I had the radiation test done on my thyroid, and I had a small node on the right side that was cold...
  21. I apologize if I offended or upset you. I was simply giving you my story.
  22. Just FYI-Naturopathic docs CAN NOT prescribe meds in the US. And I have done the temp chart as well, because I do basal temps every AM and mine were always below 97 (considered the lowest normal). I made my own chart, charted my temp every 3 hours, and took it into my primary doc. I didn't reach the "normal" 98.6 at all, over a week of charting my temps...
  23. Its called "Fluid Overload" and I have done it....dumb story....I really wanted to get that 10 glasses of water in, so I drank all 10 tall glasses within 2 hours, and I had a terrible headache and felt really sick. I called the nurse, and after running through all of the normal questions I told her how much water I had just gulped and she told me about fluid...
  24. Yeah, thats what it was, barley malt. I double checked at the store today. I wanted to post to make sure that you got the info, georgie, to make sure you look for barley in your Lindt!
  25. Courtney, I am glad to hear that you are taking your health into your own hands (about your food). I had a doc put me on Nexium, Reglan, Aciphex, and then told me to cut out tomatoes when my acid reflux still wouldn't go away! They are all nuts, if you ask me.... Anyway, how is it going? I understanding people thinking you are crazy. I have gotten that...
