    ARCHIVED This Just In

Yeah, TRH really pissed me off. I was in contact with them about this whole thing because I write for a local gluten-free newsletter, and they were going to get me a statement, and lo and behold, they don't return mycalls, and put this crap out there.......whatever. Buttheads. Anyway, rant over...they did say that the stuff that was gluten-free will stay...
  2. I always say "its like food poisoning" because they get the idea, and I don't have to share the details.
  3. This is sooooo just my opinion, but when I get glutened, chewable pepto helps me....I don't know if you have any, but that works for me.....
  4. HI Mindy! Welcome! Here is a typical day for me. Breakfast: gluten-free Cereal with Skim Milk (got the cereal from Whole Foods, it is EnviroKids "frosted flakes" kind) Lunch: Bushes Bakes Beans (Veg. Version is gluten-free, don't know about all of the others, but I don't like the pork in my beans, so I get the Veg kind) Hamburger Patty Dinner...
  5. The spot you are talking about is ususally associated with gas pains. If you have a large gas bubble there, then it may feel "numb" because it is pushing against the walls of the stomach and not allowing them to touch. Hope is doesn't hurt!
  6. What did you tell me once? "This too shall pass"! You can handle this, just one day at a time. You have such great stregnth and you share it with all of us! Thank-you for that. I have faith in you! I know you are stressing, but rant away, and remember that this is one day, and tomorrow is another. BIG HUG!!!!!!
  7. Hi Mara! Welcome! Stay Brave, you can do this! You have great advice so far! I second CarlaB, sticking to naturally wheat/gluten free foods will be the best for now. Fruits, Veggies, Meats (that you cook at home, simple, no frying). You may feel like a rabbit for a little while. There area lot of great gluten-free meal ideas, and when you want to be adventurous...
  8. Well, I guess we can just use the ones without the Vit E?? Hm...I wonder if it is pharmaceutical grade, because if so, then it is triple distilled, and should be very gluten-free........
  9. I read that the food is tax deductable if you have a dr's diagnosis...but I don't know about FSA's. You should ask the insurance adminstrator.
  10. I do that too! I feel "down" and don't want to do anything. For me, it is a "normal" response to being glutened. If it is not PMS, then I have been glutened. Infact, since going gluten-free, I have been able to stop all anxiety and depression meds. My doc is convinced that it was the gluten that messed with me so much! It has been a year, and I only...
  11. If you SEE blood, then go to the Dr. If you TASTE blood, then do worry (as much anyway) because the lining in your esophagus is made of a fowl tasting mucous that will TASTE like blood if you cough too much, but will still be clear/yellowish. If it is RED, then you need to see someone. If is it minor, then you will still need to be careful to not irritate...
  12. At the risk of sounding like an MD (which I am NOT), how long have you had this? JUST since eating those foods? Or since you did your challenge? Could you be preggers? What about new Meds? Change in sleeping habit/pattern, workouts, any other diet change???? Different pillow? (Can effect the way you sleep, and the way you digest food through the night...
  13. Or, aren't their bean in hummus? Beans make people gassy!
  14. I want another one too....LOL...and my first/last one was a disaster! I want the words "Ancora Imparo" for "still learning".
  15. Stinger! Nice to meet ya! Watch out for condiments! Like Soy sause (and teryaki sause) because they have WHEAT in them many times. I learned that the hard way! La Choy is a gluten-free soy sauce! Other than that, sounds like you are doing great, and I second what everyone else mentioned! You ARE a great friend!!!!
  16. Ingredient list for Purell: water, isopropyl alcohol, glycerin, carbomer, fragrance, aminomethyl propanol, propylene glycol, isopropyl myristate, and tocopheryl acetate Active ingredient Purpose Ethyl Alcohol 62% w/w Antiseptic With Aloe: Inactive ingredients water, isopropyl alcohol, glycerin, carbomer, aminomethyl propanol, fragrance...
  17. Here are the manufacturers, Mylan, Teva, Actavis Elizabeth, EON LABS, and Taro Pharm. I will try to look things up, BUT you should still call them on monday. Mylan-724-514-1800 Teva-215-591-3000 Actavis, Elizabeth Location- 908-527-9100 EON Labs- 718-276-8600 Taro Pharm- 914-345-9001
  18. Welcome Heather! I had many "weird" symptoms because of celiac disease. I second CarlaB. If you want to get blood work done (the celiac blood panel, tTg, IgA, IgG, Esa, i think there is one more...) then you will want to be EATING gluten until you have that done. But your symptoms sound like they COULD be celiac disease. You could have something else...
  19. yeah, someone told me to put my lettuce in a salad spinner to clean it. I was like "why? it just spins it around, right??"
  20. Do get too worried. Is it just gas? It could be anything. Maybe the cookies. Are you stressed? Did you eat or drink quickly? If you chug a glass if water it will give you gas! If you have gas pains you can stretch your arms over your head and lean to the left and to the right and it will move the bubbles around and hopefully up and out. I get painful gas...
  21. Hi Dana! Welcome to the board! I, too, need to lose weight. I am doing weight watchers, kinda....LOL! One if the biggest things is cutting back on sugar, since you are already pretty grain free, right? I don't think rice is bad (fattening) if you are having brown rice, and not too often. I think you should be find with ONE sandwich a day. Then how about...
  22. Hoppin on the Welcome wagon to say HI Britni!!!!! Ditto to Nini about Buckwheat. And to gfp about quinoa. There is also millet. My favorite gluten-free bread is from Whole Foods. It is their Gluten Free Bakehouse Sandwich Bread. I love the texture. It is like thick deli bread, not spongie like some others I have tried (yuck EnerG). Nini has a newbie...
  23. If you take that more than once a week, you might want to ask a pharm about it (because I don't have all of my info with me here or I would look it up for you). Just to be safe.....
  24. So....back to the point, see ya later Chelsea! Had fun on my birthday, thanks for coming with me! Hope you are doing ok, and kitty too! See ya around here before too long, I hope!
  25. I don't know if those are gluten-free or not, but I do know that GNC's are.
