  1. I know there are TONS of threads about stupid people....but I can't tell you how many times someone has said "glucose" after I just said "gluten".....and what gets me is that they don't say "Excuse me, I dont know what you're talking about, what is glu-ten?" They just say what soulds like something they know, glucose, and keep talking.......idiots..........
  2. Thanks! I am sooo excited!!!! He will be home for a month, and then he goes back . We are going to Vegas for our 4th ann. and I am !!!!!!! But I don't want to change the subject to me, back to House, I bought the first season on DVD, I LOVE that show. I LOVE medicine though, and I am really NOT into the OC or crap like that. I like medical shows. If...
  3. Ditto!!! I have lost 2 good friends over celiac stuff. One wanted to be my mother, and badger me about my food. See ya! Another thought I was full of crap. Nope! Cant be full of crap when you have D! See ya! It was not easy, AT ALL, but I have tried to eliminate people from my life that bring me down. I have noticed that the friends that I have made...
  4. That makes sense, because I remember it being sweet, and when I was little, I would lick the tin-foil-like wrapper because the powder was yummy!
  5. Ditto. And glutino dot com.

    ARCHIVED Help!

Welcome to the board! I am in America, but like someone else said, you can do a thread called "Any Aussies out there?" and see what kind of response you get. But you are more than welcome to post and ask questions! Welcome again!
  7. My husband comes home from Iraq on the 10th, so I will have to write that down and tape it on the TV or I will forget! I don't want to miss it!
  8. BUT, do check your chicken or deli meats, but chicken is often "pumped" or injected with marinades, juices, or thickeners and I have founds some that have wheat starch in them (tyson I think? I can't remember the name now, because I check them ALL when shopping now). (PS-I am talking about the meat, not the live animal, is injected with stuff.....)
  9. I have ALWAYS been a night owl. I worked at a hospital on the 7p-7a shift and LOVED it. I thrive at night. I don't know why. My husband jokes that we will be ready for kids because he will take days and I will take nights. I am up till nearly dawn, and then I sleep till 4 in the afternoon. I don't work right now, so it is ok. But I will be screwed if I have...
  10. Yeah she does, I heard her at a celiac meeting, and she said "kinikawhateveritis" and I said "you mean ka-nicky-nick" and she said "whatever" Now, I will write a full legnth movie about the experience, it was moving. It will be shown at Tribecca and win an award. It will be called "glucose-free". On a more serious note, I had to call them about...

    ARCHIVED Burger King

I read that the fries were ok because they were made in a dedicated fryer, and I have had them with no problem. I know you don't want to live on fries, but hey, it is a start.
  13. Ditto! And you can get a test through EnteroLab (a genetic test for you).
  14. I have read that you can go a long time without having damage in the intestines (like, 20 years or something, I can't remember the details though). But that when it hits you, it is REALLY bad. Maybe you are like that.....But I never had the endoscopy because I didn't want to eat gluten for weeks just to do the test. I had "inconclusive" blood work from my...
  15. I ordered one from Pam's Celiac Kitchen. I haven't made it yet, so I don't know how good it is, but is it already made and it is in a little metal tray so all you have to do is pop it in the oven. Their website is www dot celiackitchen dot com.
  16. I had pernicious anemia for years and had to take weekly B12 shots. (Do you have pernicious anemia? It is important to note to others that pernicious anemia, or megaloblastic anemia, is a B12 shortage, not an Iron shortage). After finding out about celiac disease, and going gluten-free, my b12 level had leveled out on its own (guess I am absorbing all of...
  17. Who? The idiots? Yeah, it is life altering...we get new laws, new medical advice, and a host of other problems. Too bad they are everywhere. Maybe we can make an "idiot virus" that will seek them out and infect them all? Eh, just a thought. Back to the article though, if people DID know before there were symptoms, I BET MONEY there would be less use of...
  18. Wow, you have been through a lot! I know what you mean about diagnosing yourself (atleast in the research department) because NO ONE has ever sat down with me and gone over all of my history and problems. I had to do that myself, and order outside tests, and THEN take them to my doc before he would do the celiac panel. I think a lot of the people here are...
  19. I have read otherwise, can you explain? I know that allergies involve allergens and antibodies. Your body creates antibodies (like histamine) to allergens. Other than that, I cant help. I tell people at resteraunts that I am allergic to gluten, because I think "intolerant" sounds like I don't like it (breat, croutons, etc). But I don't know the defining...
  20. I first found out about my gluten intolerance through an Lame Advertisement test (Lame Advertisement dot com). They test for food allergies (intolerances actually). I tested intolerant for sweet potatoes, strawberries, almonds, stringed beans, and a couple of other things, including gluten and gliadin. I cut out all of those foods and I can't even begin to...
  21. You listed the second test as a blood test....what it an IgA or IgG type test? Because, if so, if he was not eating gluten-filled foods, then a gluten antibody test would be negative......and my first test (through Lame Advertisement dot com) didn't list wheat, but it did list gluten and gliadin, so perhaps that is the difference? Not sure.....and about the...
  22. Yeah, one of those cookies is nearly 300 cals! Healthy? No. Tasty? Yes!
  23. I like how they put "gluten free" in quotes, like "big bad gluten" Yeah, I agree, and it makes me worry. I don't want to be the next "Atkins" or "Dr Phil Diet" out there....before you know it people wil be asking at the resturaunt "oh! Your doing the celiac disease too"
