    ARCHIVED Anxiety

I've been there. I know exactly where you are coming from. I've even posted about it, as well as many others. Something that has really helped me, but of course you need to work with your doctor, was going on an anti-depressant. It really has helped to cut back on the anxiety/panic attacks I was having. Also, my working with my therapist, I've helped...
  3. Have a smoothie! Throw in your favorite fruits (lots of vitamins) and add a splash of your favorite milk (soy, almond, whatever) for some protein and calcium. Add some ice to make it cold and thicker. It's easy on the tummy and good for you!
  4. Sometimes I am bothered by chips, but I think it's the grease factor
  5. I've been on Lexapro since January, and it's very effective for me! I still get anxious at times, but it's not nearly as bad and overall it's a huge improvement. I take it at bedtime, so if it is making me sleepy I don't notice (although I do seem to need 8 - 9 hours now). It also has helped the IBS too.
  6. My dr. started me on Paxil, and I did not do well on it (although I know others who are fine on it). My dr. switched to Lexapro and I LOVE it. I feel like a million bucks!! I do not know if it has any of the ingredients you are sensitive too though.
  7. I'm proud to say I've been dabbling w/ dairy for a little bit now and seem to be doing ok. I eat the garlic/basil goat cheese on Knickknick pizza - YUM! and I found a goat's milk cheddar (reminds me of a Vermont Sharp White Cheddar that's good too. I've had a little dairy (garlic mashed potatoes at a restaraunt) and a piece of American cheese on my eggs...
  8. Another O - here too!
  9. It was probably a couple weeks, but I distinctly remember the day I was driving to work and singing out loud and suddently it hit me "man, this is what it feels like to WANT to get up and go to work"! There are lots of up and downs, don't get discouraged. Keep your diet simple. Check ALL your products - not just food, but lotions, make-up, etc. Find...
  10. Hi! I'm in Ann Arbor. I've been gluten-free and DF since August, and really feel amazing. The diet looks overwhelming at first, but now it's a piece of gluten-free cake
  11. I buy mine from Market Day - which is kind of like a Gordon Food Service or Shwans, but also is a fundraisor too. Check it out at marketday.com One of the things I love about Market Day is each item has a little no wheat symbol right on it!!! The bacon is very good, and is pre-cooked... it literally takes seconds in the microwave and is not as greasy...
  12. I've been known to flip off a Pizza Hut as I'm driving past... Imagine me Friday at my daughter's Ice Cream Social - pizza and ice cream abound!! My DD only ate one piece of pizza saying it tasted old... I almost didn't care, it was so tempting... but I stayed on the wagon!!
  13. I've lost 54 pounds in a year!! Now, to be fair, some of that is a direct result that I'm eating much healthier then I ever have before. I lived for food out of boxes, take out, etc. Now I don't have that luxury, but it's a good trade off
  14. If you were near me, I'd hope for cooking lessons and/or tastings. I have trouble deciding what product to try next as it's such a gamble some times. gluten-free can be expensive, it would be great to try a sample before investing in a box of cookies.
  15. mine acts up when I'm stressed, which - according to my dr's theory - is how IBS is supposed to work. Your bowels are irritated, and uh... do what you got to do... then your fine. Mine did clear up after going gluten-free but really improved after I started an anti-depressant. The gut is your second brain, it has all the hormones and other chemicals of...
  16. It's ice cream social at my daughter's school tonight. Obviously I'll pass on the pizza and ice cream, but they do have snow cones and cotton candy. Do you think those would be safe?
  17. My anxiety was over the top around the holidays, I finally started on an anti-depressent. It's helped a lot, esp. since I'm in a very stressful time right now.
  18. I would suggest keeping your diet as simple as possible and keeping a food log so you can see which foods are triggering reactions. You may also want to look into Candida Overgrowth, when you're on that high of anti-biotics it can create havoc on the good bacteria in your system and the candida (which feeds on sugar) takes over. My dr. put me on Diflucan...
  19. I actually started working with a Wellness Coach to helpe me loose weight. I was slowly changing my eating habits and paying more attention to my body. I did start to loose weight, but realized I was still having D every day, and it was getting worse. I'd often feel as if I had the flu - feverish, achey, dizzy. I can look back now and see other incidents...
  20. I bought some divided Tupperware containers, and now when I make a big dinner I will automatically just make a bit extra and create my own "frozen entree". I throw them in the freezer and it's great to grab as I'm running out of the house in the morning.
  21. I love the Crayola Model Magic, plus once it dries you can keep your creation and it's not all crumbly like PlayDoh is.
  22. I almost always have rice bread (toasted) or a gluten-free english muffin w/ a lot of nut butter (cashew or almond) and a bit of jelly. If I know it will be a while before I can eat again, I'll have a banana with it too.
  23. Remember also that as your GI tract is healing you will absorb medications differently. Hope you're feeling better soon!
  24. I Like the Bette Hagman books, and there is one called "Fast and Healthy" or something - one of her cookbooks is very elaborate. I received a "Cooking Free" (for multiple sensitivities) that looks good, but havent tried it. You really can adapt a lot of your "regular" recipies. And i tend to cook pretty simple now anyway, roasted meats, stir fries...
  25. I'm on the pill and NOT for the usual reasons (dang it)! When I'm off the pill (which was pre-gluten-free) I would have a heavy period about every 18 days - ugh. When I"m on the pill (and I take it straight for three months, then on the fourth month I have an "off" week) I barely have any bleeding, if at all. Love it!!
