  1. I've had this comment several times from a co-worker who I see munch on chips, McDonald's and other things all day long. It's hard not to say "gee, if you'd eat lean meat and veggies...."
  2. Thanks for the advice! Yes, they did swabs and all sorts of other tests. I also react to antibiotics, and I've never tried this one so I hope I can stick with it. Lots of probiatics for me!!
  3. After spending 9 fun filled hours in the ER yesterday, they sent me home with a diagnosis of Pelvic Inflmatory Disease. I have moderate (but fairly tolerable) pain/cramping in my left lower quadrant on my tummy, and vaginal cramping - almost like starting a horrible period, but I'm not. During the several pelvic exams, things were... well... very tender...
  4. Welcome! Everyone's advice is right on. I'm one of those people who's bloodwork came back "normal" but I had such an improvement on the diet my dr. thought it would be a waste to do a biopsy, and that if I was feeling better eating gluten-free then just eat gluten-free. No hocus-pocus, just smart thinking. Welcome, and feel better soon!
  5. I take Metagencis brand Ultra Dopholis... free of everything except the zillion little good guys I get in my system. It's a powder that you mix in water. Keep the powder in the fridge, they like it dark and cold to stay alive.
  6. I get this, and I love it! I haven't yet made one thing from it, but at least I know I can!!
  7. I was gluten-free for at least six months and whenever I tried dairy I'd have a reaction. I finally stopped trying until just recently... which would make it almost a year. I now have hard cheese (yum, cheddar!!), butter, sour cream and whip cream. I have not yet tried the heavier items like yogurt, milk, ice cream. I would think if you can handle yogurt...
  8. Plain grilled fish, no seasoning and a baked potato - uncut. But I'd rather ask and find something tastier if possible!!
  9. Document document document!! And the document it all again. Bring extra copies for the judge. Stay strong!!
  10. Try Imagine brand, they have a "creamy" mushroom soup - you may need to thicken it a bit.
  11. I've got a great layered mexican dip that can be customized to meet all tastes! Spread one can of Frito Lay bean dip on a large plate (not regular re-fried beans!!). Spread 1/4 - 1/2 bottle of taco sauce, then spread sour cream over that. Sprinkle on cheese. I top with big pieces (so they can be removed by picky eaters) of tomato, olive, peppers, onion...
  12. I'm 5'1", a gluten-free co-worker is also petite. But, I have two friends with celiac disease who are at least six feet tall.
  13. We must be doing something right, the boss has asked if I can stay on until I find a job or she hires someone. I said of course! Even if I only work until Oct 2 then my health insurance is paid for through October. Personally, I think she realized she's about to be up a creek Thank you!!
  14. If we're at the table, I'll say something like "oh, you're eating... best not to talk about it right now".... that usually shuts them right up
  15. I'm single and dating... or trying to the last guy I went out with ended up having a peanut allergy, so he couldn't have been more understanding. I've met a new guy (and we haven't gone out yet) but we were joking about eating something and he said he'd bring me one, but he used whole wheat flour so it just naturally turned into a "can't have that"...
  16. Long story short, and some of you know this, I work for an "interesting" person (substitute almost any other adjective there!). She terminated my employement but I filed a grievance and was able to extend the deadline until Sept. 29 - which yes, is just a few short days away. I've had NO luck finding another position, until this morning when I got a call...
  17. I use either LaChoy or SanJ Tamari - WHEAT FREE. (They do have a wheat version). These are the only two I know of, but there may be others.

    ARCHIVED Stress

How about some stress management??? Seriously though - get some good self help books or magazines (I love Oprah's magazine) and practice some stress relief. Stress does effect your body! You will heal, but much slower. You really need to take some time for yourself and get some chill-out time going. I took a relaxation class, and it's done...
  19. Sounds like we need to plan a gluten-free Scrapbooking Retreat!!!
  20. I don't take much, except for some Tylenol PM at night. But I am a big beleiver in Zycam, which you need to start using asap when you feel a cold coming on. I did verify that it is gluten-free. Feel better!!
  21. I'm so glad you started this thread. Will all the recent um... "emotional outbursts" (for lack of a better term) we need to concentrate on why we're really here. I learned 100 times more here then I did from my own doctor, nutrionist, and wellness coach combined! From cross contaminiation, to reading EVERY label especially lotions and shampoos - which...
  22. Shhhh... my guilty little secret is that I live on these! I shop at Busch's or Hillers and pick up at least one a week.
  23. Yep, keep him hydrated and let him eat what he wants when he wants. He'll be up and raring to go any day now.
  24. I'm in Ann Arbor... Go Blue!
