  1. Just having one of those days... started out good, but then had a little "D" (but I feel pretty good). So now I'm looking at my foods logs... was it the small amount of steak I had for dinner? Tuna salad for lunch? I go back to my food logs and some things seem to have given me problems some days, and not on others. Sometimes I feel sure no matter what...
  2. I do have dreams where I've had something to eat (usually mac n cheese!) and I get SO mad at myself in the dream, and then I wake up and I'm all 'oh - ha ha, just a dream..." But last weekend I had one of those dreams where I dreamt that this whole thing has been a bad dream, and that I am in fact healthy and can eat what I want when I want, where I...
  3. I do lots of stir fry... (do you have a rice cooker? Best $20 I've spent!). Check out Bette Hagman cookbooks - love the Cashew Ginger Salmon and Wild Rice salad. One of my favorite/fast dinner side items are McCain Smiley Fries... so tasty and fun. Just found some great Rice Snaps - a sweet/salty lo-cal rice cracker/cookie. I usually have toasted rice...
  4. Hello and Welcome! I'm pretty new here myself, but have learned *tons* from this website - read everything you can get your hands on!! Has your dr. run any Celiac tests? If not, and you want to be tested (both blood and stool) then you need to be consuming gluten - at least for the blood tests. OTOH, my blood panel came back perfectly "normal", as lots...
  5. I'm in Ann Arbor! Have you checked out the yahoo/ann arbor group? It's at Open Original Shared Link I just joined over the weekend. I hope you're feeling better!
  6. Any fellow Michigan-ders out there? Brrr.... it's too cold already isn't it?
  7. My own dr. says "you don't need the paper to tell you - listen to your body". He did run the blood panel, but it came up perfectly "normal". I do so miss dairy, and hope to one day be able to have it again! But for now - it's working, so I'll keep doing it!
  8. Great Smokies Labs will also break down many foods for sensitivity testing including casein, cheese, milk, goats milk, etc.
  9. I have been GFDF since mid-August. I keep a detailed food and bathroom log (how's that for fun reading?) which is very helpful. I've noticed that I usually go on average 5 times/day - sometimes more. One day it was less and I was all freaked out until I remembered that was my goal! I'm trying to re-introduce dairy but that gives me *horrible* gas for...
  10. How can you tell the difference between a Casein intollerence versus a lactose intollerence? and FWIW - my next step is to try some dairy, the dietician I'm working with wants me to try Digestive Advantage - a once/day lactose intollerence pill. They are gluten-free. Anyone else tried them? Thanks!
  11. My story is almost the opposite: I paid for the blood tests (negative) and for expensive food allergy tests with Great Smokies - which also came up negative for any wheat/barley/oats sensitivity. And now I'm right where my dietician originally suggested.... not eating any gluten or dairy. I'm slowly reintroducing foods and keeping a food/symptom journal...
  12. Hello! I've been lurking here for several months, and am glad to have had you all as my "friends" even if you didn't know it!! I'm going to Cocoa Beach, FL for five days in February - it will be soooo good to get out of Michigan in the middle of winter. But I need suggestions for restaurants and shopping for food staples to keep in the hotel. Thank...
