  1. I am always shocked at my grocery bill! But I should sit down and compare it to what I actually spent when I was eating out all the time - I bet there's not that much difference. And I am so proud now when my daughter (she's 8) and I grocery shop and come away with a cart full of fresh, healthy fruits and veggies instead of all the junk we used to buy!...
  2. I just checked the Avon site and I don't see any gluten ingredients in the Glazewear - did someone get other information they could pass on to me? Hate to throw it all out - but certainly paranoid now Watch Bed Head products too - there was three forms of wheat in the shampoo alone as well as the thickening lotion! I use L'oreal now.
  3. When I first started on the meds, I felt like I was jumping out of my skin too. And while this one may have worked well for you before, it will take some re-adjusting to it (or you may have to switch). Remember too that if your GI tract is healing, it's absorbing things differently then before so you may have a different reaction. Hope today's better...
  4. Well - prunes will do that to you anyway Could it be that you're sensitive to sulfites in the dried fruit? Sometimes I think that gets me. And I'm always more sensitive when my "friend" is here too! Feel better soon!!
  5. We were recently traveling and found an IHOP. I went in and asked the manager who assured me (at least in this location) eggs are cooked in a seperate frying pan (and it's just eggs, no added ingredients) bacon is cooked on the "bacon spot" and hashbrowns cooked on the "hashbrown spot". All pancakes, etc. are cooked on an enitrely different grill. I ate...
  6. I went gluten-free/DF in August, and was doing great till around Thanksgiving. Shortly after I had some huge job stress, my daughter got sick twice, then I was sick.... Christmas was awful. Which depressed me even more! I was overwrought w/ anxiety - about everything but especially foods and lost a lot of weight quickly because I was scared to eat. After...
  7. Where are you going in Michigan? If you're going "up north" or to Lake Michigan you can find lots of cottages to rent with a kitchen. I'm in Ann Arbor. We have an Outback, Seva and I've had luck at a breakfast/lunch place called Cafe Marie. We also have a great Whole Foods, Hillers, Trader Joes and even our mainstream grocery stores have some products...
  8. Well, I have survived my first adventure on the gluten-free/DF challenge - a trip to Florida! Partly thanks to Wendy's and Progresso - but either way I not only survived, but had fun. But I have to share how accomodating Sea World was. We stopped at a cafeteria style place and I totally stressed but I remember reading on their web site how they could...
  9. I love Boomi Bars - mostly nuts, and they have a good one w/ cranberries.
  10. I love the white sandwich bread and the Tapioca Itallian too. Don't forget the chocolate donuts and K-Toos!
  11. I always woke up and had a glass of the Premium OJ (not from concentrate) with calcium and -sigh- graham crackers. (Obviously this was before my wheat free days.) I also always carried snack bars in my purse. I just got some great ones - Boomi Bars. Lara bars are good too. Both have a good source of fiber too. My OB told me if I got C to watch...
  12. The orange smelly stuff is exactly what happened to me when I took Diflucan for Candida overgrowth. (It was almost "foamy" too) It's quite interesting, isn't it???
  13. Are you religious or beleive in a "higher power"? Now's a great time to put your faith in them. Just take good care of yourself, take your vitamins (I took mine at lunch), stock up on gluten-free snacks to keep with you!
  14. I found this too, it lists the ingredients: Open Original Shared Link
  15. I tried to look it up on their website, but it said "no product found". Please call them asap to put your mind at ease. I know whenever I take an antibiotic, I get D pretty badly. Also, if it's killing off the bacteria in your gut - then the dead germs only have one place to go... Hope you're feeling better soon!
  16. Floridanative... (I tried to PM you, but it wouldn't let me). You don't happen to live near Cocoa Beach? Any dining suggestions you could share?
  17. Thanks for the tip! I ordered my dressings and the rep said I should have them in time for my trip. She also suggested I try their new "Ritz Cracker"... can't wait!
  18. These are great tips, thanks. And today it's 5 degrees with a -13 windchill.... at this point I don't care if I'm eating rice cakes and peanut butter... at least I'll be warm!
  19. Everyone is different and you just have to find out (unfortunately through trial and error) what works best for you. I have a friend that can have some dairy without incident, another friend has all the cheese she wants but no milk or ice cream, I reacted last time to a half serving of plain yogurt...grr... Personally I usually try to avoid soy if possible...
  20. To be completely honest, the question of getting more food intolerences and how will I ever know what's safe to eat had me completely wigged out, esp. around the holidays. I also had some other issues going on (sick kid, job stress, holidays...) so between the whole combination I was getting very anxious and depressed. My dr. put me on an anti-depressant...
  21. Hooray - I'm leaving Michigan (where it's 7 degrees w/ the windchill right now) for balmy Florida next week! I have long flights there and back with a big layover. What's your favorite tip for being stuck in an airport and planes all day? Any recommendations on eating out when I get there? (I rarely eat out at home, but will be eating out a lot there...
  22. Dani - first of all your cake makes me drool.... I've been blessed to have my mother's best friend to use a resource. She's also a RD and her daughter has Celiac. While I love my dr., he didn't know much about going wheat free nor did he refer me to anyone. My mother is the one who suggested I see her friend. She was very helpful, esp. in the...
  23. If you're sensative to soy, you may want to try a different mayo. I just bought one made from Canola Oil, no soy - it's pretty good too.
  24. Celiac Specialties, which is in the Metro Detroit area. I've had their stuff - very tasty!!
  25. It was on our morning local news today!
